installation drive internal 3 TB in hp z400

I need to install an internal 3 TB drive in a z400.  Anyone knows if it can handle or will I need to updates, drivers, etc.. ?

whbc, you install a second drive that will be used for data only?  If so, there should be no problem - just plug the initialize and format it in the operating system.  No other updates or drivers are required.

If you use it as a boot drive, there are a few limitations.  The Z400 cannot use drives of greater than 2 TB start.  If you connect the 3 TB drive and try to make the boot drive, it will appear as ~ 765MB instead of 3 GB.  The drive could be partitioned into 2 disks, where each partition is less than 2 GB, and then is used for the operating system and other data beforehand.

  • Installation of a BLU - RAY DRIVE internal in a 8700 XPS PC.

My purchase of a Dell XPS 8700 computer has arrived, and I want to install a drive internal blu - ray since mine did not come with one.

    Is this possible?

I'm a bit of a novice in computer science and I watched videos online of the people equip their computer with a blu - ray player, but none of them is featured a 8700 XPS.  Can anyone help me with instructions on how to:

    -Open the computer

-connect/install the blu - ray player?

I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you!

    Hello

It should be possible.  The XPS 8700 should come with unused bays where the blu - ray player can be adapted.   But I must warn you that you're dealing with electronics when you do the upgrades and installs.  Please make sure that you watch videos that explain all the security requirements when it comes to the delicate pieces.

Here is the link to the manuals for the 8700 XPS.   It has both a guide and the specifications for you to review document.  Again, I strongly recommend reading the safety precautions section and "before you begin" to get a better understanding of what you need to do.

It should also be a section in the manual to know how to install a replacement disk, which will essentially be the step by step instructions.

Good luck and don't forget to follow the safety guides and installation instructions completely.

  • No boot sector on hard drive internal?

I got a Dell Latitude D610 with XP Professional pre-installed on a few years ago and it worked fine up until last month. I discovered that the hard drive crashed so I bought a new.

After I installed the new hard drive, when I turn on the computer to reinstall the operating system, I get the error "no boot sector on hard drive internal no bootable devices - strike F1 to retry Reboot, F2 for Setup utility"

Now, whenever I look in the BIOS, it is said that she read my hard drive. (40 GB HARD DRIVE) I know that the drive is empty and the OS installation disc has service pack 2 on it, but when I put the disc in I get the same error message. The drive, which I am using is a clean CD Windows XP Pro I had earlier.

I'm guessing that because the HARD drive is perfectly clean, is it not a MBR hard disk. I don't know how to get the disc to run and the diagnosis says that everything else is fine.

I am a student with a part-time job full time and cannot afford a new laptop or even an operating system for the moment. Could someone help me find a solution to this problem?

    OK, I solved the problem:

-J' have torn the XP Pro CD Image and stored on this desktop computer.
-J' mounted the ISO on my flash drive.
-J' took my laptop HARD drive
-On my laptop, I set the BIOS to boot from USB
-I reconnected it the HARD drive while the computer has booted the OS Setup
-J' reinstalled the operating system of the
-Download the drivers on the Dell site and put on another flash drive
-Install the drivers on my laptop

Now, it works fine. Like everything new again. Daavee and THIS_IS_INSANE, you two are awesome! Thanks for the help. x]

  • Cannot start. Don't get the error "no boot sector on hard drive internal.

Original title: computer does not load.

After that I turned on my laptop (windows XP) I get a black screen saying "no boot sector on hard drive internal" "no devices bootable-strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for installation; After pressing F1 displays the same screen and if I press F2 Setup screen appears and then I'm lost. Help please!

    Hi Jose_luna47,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?

    Method 1

I suggest that you perform chkdsk analysis on the computer to check and fix the errors on the hard drive by using the recovery console.

If the previous step fails, then you will need to check the settings in the basic input/output system (BIOS) and you need to contact the computer manufacturer for help with basic input/output system (BIOS).

  • Where to keep the drive internal or external libraries?

Question #1. I'm an old school and used to keep the media on an external drive and internal SSD flash disk application. (FCP7) I was thought to keep them separate for optimal performance. Now, I hear very often to keep the libraries on SSD internal flash drive. Why? First of all I can't consolidate as images can fill the space.

Question #2. I am using a Seagate FW 800 as external, is replacement with USB 3.0 would improve performance?

Question #3. I have many USB 3.0 devices. I have to constantly to move as my iMac does not provide sufficient USB3.0 outs. I read that USB powered ports creates problems.

    Thank you.

P.S. One of the 3rd party plugins companies support highly advisable to keep the libraries on a flash SSD drive internal

    1. it may be a valid option to store the library on an SSD - especially if you travel and work on a laptop but I'm not hearing, saying that it is the best practice.  And you're right that media can fill disk quickly enough. What developer recommends it?

    2. Yes.  I guess that your connection to the FW drive is via an adapter Thunderbolt. So you should be really better off choosing a Thunderbolt drive.

    3. possibly. Maybe someone else will be chime.

I see a black screen with a cursor on startup or a black screen saying no boot device... After using Boot Camp Assistant. I tried to not use the wizard and make a Fat32 partition on my USB on and implemented to date, but this method failed as well for some reason any illogical.

Please help me or at least explain certain restrictions that I can never get about in what concerns my machine and Boot Camp.

The EFI on your Mac version works partially with a USB Flash drive, but the file info.plist mounting is required. The VM/Winclone method also works.

I forgot to add something that the /Volumes directory is a hidden folder in OS X with all the mount points for all the drives on your computer. I'm guessing that the files are actually created on the hard drive when connected to your iMac, and you have finder configured to show hidden files and folders you iMac and not your MacBook - please see quickly show/hide hidden files on Mac OS X Mavericks & Yosemite | Ian Lunn - front-end developer.

  • Installation of the 2nd hard drive internal

I have a HP Pavilion a6750y, with an internal hard drive and a LightScribe DVD Super Multi burner.  The system is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit, with 8 GB of RAM.

I want to install a 2nd internal hard drive... If all goes well.

The original hard drive goes SATA1 on the motherboard.

The DVD player will SATA2 on the motherboard.

So, obviously, I chose SATA3 on the motherboard to connect my cable purchased and only plugged SATA 2nd hard disk.  So far so good.  Now the problem...

I did not know that the SATA drives have a power connector different than the old records.  So, a single SATA power connector goes to the original drive and the other for the DVD player.  There is no third party.

All other power connectors are old white 4 holes plastic ones.  And like 5 of them.

If I'm screwed?  How can I get another SATA power connector?  Are there adapters that connect to the 'old' white maybe?

Or do I have to buy a new power supply with 3 SATA connectors on this subject?

    Thanks for our help.

    Hi Mike,.

  • Bookmarks to Safari from backup to the New Installation drive

Failing HARD drive. Fortunately just copied HDD external HDD before the failure. New Safari installation on the new HARD drive. How to make bookmarks and favorites of the old disk backup on external drive for the new Safari installation on the new HARD drive?

How do you have copied the data externally? You want to backup the folder User/Library/Safari, but how to get that depends on how you copied. If it's a Time Machine backup, go to Finder and select your user folder. With this Finder window as the windshield, select Finder/display/display options for presenting or order - J.  When the display options opens, check "show the library folder. This should make your visible user library folder in your user folder.  Select library/Safari. Enter Time Machine and restore this file.

If the outside is bootable, boot off of it, do what above, and then copy the folder to the library user to internal drives.

  • El Capitan loaded on my external hard drive disturbed my system preferences Maverick on my drive internal

I currently use the most recent version of Maverick from an internal hard drive on my iMac. I needed to download the demo of Final Cut Pro X or under of El Capitan Yosemite and due to a limitation of version of FCPX. As I had an another Maverick boot on an external drive, I've decided to upgrade this drive to El Capitan. A few hours after the installation was successful, and I was able to download the trial of FCPX. So I planted my system and restarted with my boot Maverick my internal drive. So far so good, however, to my surprise, I can't the system preferences window because it gives me the following message appears "Unable to open the preferences system because of a problem.". Similarly, I get the same message when I load a DVD and the DVD player will automatically load.

I need to go to my applications and open the program individual (Preferences system and DVD player to do what I want to accomplish.

I restored tOSX recovery Mignot, but nothing has changed. I believe that El Capitan installation on another drive has created conflicts.

I also discovered that my backup should be completely redone (i.e. backup lull in my go 530)... beautiful!

    Someone has a similar problem?

If I can't solve this problem, I have to install El Capitan on my internal drive and maybe the problem will be solved.

I would eject the external hard drive with the installation of El Capitan and see if it helps.

FWIW, I have never known or seen reported when an installation on an external drive also changed the preferences on the internal drive.

I suggest that you eliminate problems in your user folder by checking in the comments or in a new user.

    CREATE A NEW USER

Go to system-> Preferences, create a new user in users and groups.

Place in the new user by logging in under the Apple in the menu bar.

Log in to the new user.

You can ignore connect them with one identifier Apple. Hit continue and then jump.

Only applications Apple will be on the dock.

Go to Applications to open other applications.

    You still see the issue?

If Yes, then the problem is with your core files.

If not, then the problem is in your user folder.

You have the time Machine and internal backups of your disk clone?
