Installation HP Windows Server 2003 on Dell PowerEdge 2600

I'm trying to implement a PowerEdge 2600 for use as a test platform to run SQL Server 2005 scenarios.

I bought the system off eBay without BONES.

I bought a copy of Windows Server 2003 R2/5 cal off Ebay too.  When the OS disks arrived disk #1 is a HP "for distribution only with a HP Server new."  Version.

When I tried to boot the system on drive n ° 1, the system goes by it's starting controls and then presents the message:

The system is not a supported platform.

1. is legal to sell and use the specific operating system OEM?  Apparently the systems OEM disks provided with finished up having Linux installed on them.

2. other OEM/HP disks would work with Dell platform?

Thank you!

What do you mean by people with disabilities?

You are not able to boot from the CD?

In these cases, please press the C button immediately after switching on the laptop. This should allow booting from the CD/DVD drive.
Alternatively, you can try to press the F12 key instead of the C key. This should allow the start menu. Then you could choose the STRANGE as boot device and might try to boot from the CD-ROM Server Win.

    First I had the

"found no hard drives installed in your computer error.

I have install windows OS was frank. Anyone faced this problem. Please advise me? I have 2 CD (Cd1 and Cd2) of Windows server 2003 edition.

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks in advance

1 you shouldn't have to download all the drivers for the vHDD, as LSI Logic drivers are included in Windows Server 2003.  In other words, you have not selected correct SCSI (LSI Logic) controller.

Now I get NTLDR is missing, restart the computer.

Make sure that the disk is disconnected.

    Welcome to the community,

Installing on Windows 7 is sometimes delicate. Take a look at http://faq.sanbarrow.com/index.php?solution_id=1113 to verify that your installation is ok or how to fix it in case it is not.

In addition to the installation of VMware Player, I suggest that you install the guest without using "Easy Install".

first of all, you need to start EM before (ab), you can use it.
then why you depend on 'EM?
EM has simply SQL for the lazy or incompetent.

  • Installation of Windows Server 2008 R2 on Poweredge R820, where the hell are the drivers preinstall?

I created a VD to install windows server 08. Readers are attached by the Bay before port hot swap, connected through SAS. Currently, it says that it can't find not all hard drives, I'm sure I need drivers preinstallation of the raid controller for the operating system to detect the drive but I can't find these drivers anywhere on the page list of the driver on http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/poweredge-r820

Anyone know where I can get the drivers? I checked the page twice and I can't find something that even alluded to preinstall drivers.

What RAID SAS controller do you have?

This will cover the H310 and H710 (using the "hard drive" version, run to extract before putting on optical/USB) - found under SAS-RAID/driver:

    www.Dell.com/.../PowerEdge-r820

You can also use the deployment/installation embedded utility which can help to install an operating system, that includes drivers - F10 during POST.

  • Installation of windows server 2008 R2 on Poweredge R320

    Hello everyone

We bought a new Poweredge R320 server in order to install 64-bit Windows Server R2. There are 2 drives inside and they are preconfgured as raid1.

I changed the configuration of SATA in RAID mode and also initialized by PERC-H310 RAID1 without any problem. When the server starts up, I see the following messages.

We found no Raid 0 disks

1 Vitrual disk (s) were found.

I can boot from the windows media but no disks are found and is prompting me to browse and install the drivers from nesseray. So I downloaded

SAS Raid drivers from this link: ftp://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/poweredge-r320.html#Drivers%20for%20OS%20Deployment

Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit driver for controllers in PERC H310/H710/H710P/H810
Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit driver for controllers in PERC H310/H710/H710P/H810
    Recommended 5.2.220.64 18/10/2012 Windows
    Windows Server 2008 R2

The name of the file is: DRVR_WIN_M20VR_5.2.220.64_A02_ZPE.exe

I extracted the contents of a USB, restarted the server and when you are prompted for drivers during the windows installation, I traveled to USB which 2 files are found.

    nodev.inf

    percsas.inf

I tried both of them, but every time I get a message saying to make sure that the correct drivers are found. It seems that is not the correct drivers.

Could be he you please direct me to the correct drivers? Or if you have any suggestions please let me know.

    Thank you very much

PS: I posted the same topic in the forum "Blade" by mistake. Apology.

"Do you mean that if my BIOS/SATA configuration has been set to RAID 1 I should have drivers chipset/AHCI for a successful installation?"

No, because you are not using the onboard SATA RAID - your built-in SATA is used ONLY by your optical drive, so it should not be in RAID and AHCI usually requires special drivers, which is not required when you use optical drives.  However, pilots of chipset/AHCI may have helped Windows to see the optical drive in such a way that the installation could proceed (if she needs the RAID controller for real hard disks, you will NOT see this particular message - you will see another message when Windows cannot find not all drives to be installed on).

"When someone would set RAID 1 for sata configuration?"

ONLY if you use the S110 RAID controller onboard.  You use the H310, so you don't want to mess with the SATA RAID on board.

  • Windows Server 2012 on Dell PowerEdge R610

    Hello-

Anyone know how to upgrade R610 so that I can install 2012 from the BIOS?

I tried as 'other' to F10 and it failed with pilot errors. I tried to update the firmware with the management of the ISO and the same thing happened.

Is there a method I'm missing?

    Thank you

    Prince

    Princesly,

The R610 takes in 2012. You tried to start directly on the support of 2012? Looks like you were trying to use a Dell OS installation disc.

What happens when you start Media?

Also, have you tried to install it using the lifecycle controller (F10 on screen Dell)?

  • Storage DELL OMSA [Windows Server 2003 R2 64-bit] not shown [14/10/2014]

    Hi all

I have a general question/issue. I install DELL OMSA on a poweredge 1950 using Windows Server 2003 R2 server and the only part not appearing is not in the list system is the storage controller.

The system carries out the following:

Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Version 5.3.0

It shows everything except the storage controller. Please indicate how we can improve this to show the PERC controller/storage for the following:

    WX072
    1
Assembly, Card (Circuit), Serial Attached SCSI PERC5I, 1950, 2950
    TX846
    1

THE ASSEMBLY, CABLE, CONTROL, SERIAL ATTACHED SCSI, POWEREDGE EXPANDABLE RAID CONTROLLER NUMBER

    Thanks again as always!

    Kent C.

    Hello Kent,

The first thing to check is to ensure that all four OMSA services are running. They appear as DSM in services. You can also make a change to the Setup from Add/Remove programs and make sure that the storage options are installed. Alternatively, you can install a newer version of OMSA http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=28KFC&fileId=3365343263&osCode=WX64&productCode=poweredge-1950&languageCode=EN&categoryId=SM

  • Dell Power edge 2850 will not let me install windows server 2003

    Hello

I tried to install windows server 2003 on a few servers, I received a few weeks back.  The RAID put a system in place and turned but when it tries to install WS he says that there are no hard drives.

I tried to download "server Dell Power Edge update through bootable media / ISO ' but there is no download for a 2850.

Also I tried to download this "Dell systems build and Update Utility" but most of the time it stops and says failed download...

    Hello

    Also visit this link

This link is the user's guide.

    And another one

I bought a 2950 on Ebay the month last but never had the intention on the installation of a Windows operating system, but I downloaded the ISO of DVD here file and installed without any problem they send you a key to save the operating system. I updated the bios after this and no problem. You never said how many hard drives you have, but make sure that you have two or more. So far, I've installed VMWare ESXi which was supported on 2950 but I settled with XenServer 6.5.0 and I 2003 server running as a virtual machine which works very well.

I have a Dell XPS workstation I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 on it but I had only one drive is connected and the operating system could not see all of the hard drives. After that a second device and do not use raid on this machine, I was able to install Windows. I tried the ISO Live Dell 2850 version but it is not a. Which includes diagnostic tools. When you by a Dell there pre installed in a hidden partition on the disk utility, you can run, but it really isn't anything I know install that. Usually the F12 key will give you a list of items to boot from and if she isn't here the disk, it cannot run. The diagnostic utility that is.

  • new PowerEdge: windows server 2003 standard r2 install problem

    Hi all

so I started with this procedure

    1. Insert the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility CD or the Dell and Documentation DVD systems management tools in the CD player.
    2. Reboot your system and boot from the CD/DVD.
    3. Select Dell Systems Build and Update Utility to go to the Dell Systems Build and Update Utility Home screen.
    4. Click the server operating system Installation.
    5. Follow the instructions step by step to set up your hardware and to install your operating system.

Now in the select list of Os, I chose windows server 2003 sp2. When I come to the part where it asks for my o/s drives, I get a "invalid" drive, and my windows install dvd is ejected.

I use our msdn 2939.3 disc titled "Windows Server 2003 R2, Standard Edition with Service Pack 2.

I tried our other msdn discs, but they no longer work.

    so I'm stuck.

All I need is to put in place the RAID-1 and windows server 2003.

Anyone who is willing to light on that?

  • Windows Server 2003 STD Installation of PE 1950 freeze

    Hello

I have a PE 1950 I'm trying to reinstall Windows Server 2003 STD. There a PERC 5 / i controller SCSI with a Raid 1 configuration. I've updated the Bios Dell 2.0.1 and the PERC 5 / i firmware to version 5.2.1 - 0067. I created and initialized from cd Dell Open manage Cd (V 5.2.0) and go through all the instructions. It copies the files from the Windows CD-ROM server hard disk, so he asked to restart. So I do, then the Windows installation screen rises, and the server hangs. The gray bar at the bottom of the installation is not upward to install a 3rd party SCSI driver. If I restart the server, it freezes again at the Windows screen.

I ran an extented diagnostic systems on it, but she came back without error.

I'm running out of ideas on how to get Windows Server 2003 is installed on this server. Ideas or comments will be appreciated.
