Installation of 10g on Suse 10 - Orarun

Hi all

In fact, I installed a few databases with a procedure that I found on the page of Novell, it simplifies the installation of Oracle without having to mess with some settings.

After you have configured the basic Oracle Server to install, just allow the oracle user.
Then change the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID in /etc/profile.d/oracle.sh

After that just to run the script/usr/sbin/rcoracle start that defined the parameters of kernell

Then just run the installer from the ora
Is a fast method, but I thought that if this is the best

What do you think?

Certified Oracle configuration of Novell we have orarun.

With Oracle Oracle certified configuration, we have "oracle-validated .rpm '.

For the rest of the Linux world, if you can find it, you can use Howards 'doris' script.

All make a lot of assumptions about how you want to configure your system. For each of them, the assumptions are usually satisfactory to start.

Once things are started for a test configuration (a database of "it works"), a professional DBA will review the configuration and make changes according to the load and politics.

So yes - orarun is perfectly good... for starters. (And probably not valid for 11 GR 2! As oracle - validated.rpm with 5u2 OEL not.)

I must admit that I have not looked at 'doris' in a while. It's the support matrix can be much better and much more flexible than others, but I have no idea how he rises now.

  • Whats needed for the installation of 10G 32-bit on Windows server 2008 R2 x 64

    Hello

I can't use 11g with what I need to use on the server.

I installed 10.2.0.3.0 32 bit on Server 2008 R2 x 64. It does not work and I get a page not found error when I navigate to our application. I know that I have to install a group of patches or something more recent than 10.2.0.3.0. How to install the Group of hotfixes 32bits 10.2.0.4.0 on my server? Is there a different group of patches that I need to install? When I tried to install the patches group, he said:

As long as you succeed ORACLE_HOME correctly to work on your different databases, having more than one version of Oracle on a server is not a problem.

These 'individual files' report to the FRA.  What you need to do is allow rman use the FIU, which it wants to do by default.  Then clear your default settings trying to name/place your backups differently.
