Installation of CF-8 32 bit on 64-bit machine

Hello

We intend to upgrade our server to test and to do this, we planned on buying a 64-bit hardware from Dell running Windows 2008 x 64 Web edition.

However, for now, we want to continue to use 32-bit CF 8. Is there something to make us stop, or does move to the 64 bit CF? Or someone had problems running CF 32-bit on Windows 64-bit?

Thanks in advance.

Ciaran.

You need to enable the 32-bit on your 64-bit machine:

  • Installation of Windows 7 (64 bit) on a 500-089 Pavilion

    Hello...

The computer is a HP Pavilion 500-089 with an AMD A10 CPU, Radeon graphics card, card mother MSI MS-7778, containing the chipset AMD A75 and 8 GB of RAM. The vehicle is currently Windows 8 is installed on the hard drive.

I would like to install Windows 7 (x 64) on the partition where Windows 8. I would do this while keeping my recovery and other partitions intact, just as it has been partitioned at the factory. In other words, I want to keep the GPT partition table, it came with.

I want to be sure about the BIOS settings, that I needed to change to it. My view is: 1) disable Secure Boot in the BIOS (the UEFI firmware) under Secure Boot Configuration, 2) Enable Legacy Support

Then I'll be able to start the installation of Windows 7 (64 bit) of the DVD, and will my GPT recognized and uncompromising of the installation?

I know running Windows 7 does not have any support from HP. That's why I need to keep the GPT and all partitions intact original.

For what it's worth, I would also suggest HP seriously consider adding Windows 7 to their list of operating systems supported on other computers 'Windows 8 '.  W7 is a proven operating system.

    Hello

Yes, if you meet the two steps that you mentioned before installing Windows 7, it should work fine. But owning a www.hp.com and download the necessary drivers before installing Windows 7. So that you don't have to run around to download drivers once you install Windows 7. If you have problems during the installation, you can read back the same message.

I tried to install windows 7 64 bit several times but I always had an error after the first reboot, and never fill the installion. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    @DidokB,

Thanks for posting back.  The other drives must have some sort of issue if they all failed to install.  If you have to install on the last of them, then is not the operating system recovery or the laptop.

With some drives, there could be questions that are not connected to bad sectors.  It may be something with reading / writing system.

Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • Multiprocessor Configuration does not support the installation of Windows 7 64-bit.

I'm going as a joint discussion on the multiprocessor Configuration not supported during the installation of Windows 7 64-bit. I have a HP with a motherboard HP xw6200 workstation. The Machine has dual Zeon 3.20 Ghz. the procesors are identical. There bus 800 MHZ front. It has 6 gigs of 400 MHZ DDR2 Ram. I've updated to the latest version of the bios a few months ago. It has worked very well in dual boot with the last pack of 64-bit XP and Vista 64-bit SP1 for a long time. I tried to upgrade using a clean 64-bit Windows 7 installation when I got the error Stop Multiprocessor_Configuration_Not_Supported: 0X0000003E. I tried to upgrade to Vista and XP with the same error message. I also installed a new unformatted disk and tried to install the operating system again through the CD and got the same error.

    Hi ITCoreTeam,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

Test the material under test once, by contacting the manufacturer. The problem is caused due to hardware.
Cause: This situation can occur if the incorrect processor packages are used or if the BIOS incorrectly allows a processor erratum.

Download the update available in the link below and install it. It may solve your problem.

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the computer to update the chipset drivers as you have updated the BIOS of your computer.

Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Lightroom 2.5 installer fails on Vista 64-bit

I downloaded the latest Lightroom 2.5 update, twice on two different computers, both with Vista 64-bit, and at any time after the execution of the update I get the following message:

A problem occurred during extraction of files. Check the amount of space available on your computer and the rights to write to the destination folder.

Given that this same error message occurs on two different computers and computers have a lot of disk space (more than 300 G free on one) and more than 250 G of free on the other, and both computers running at the admin level, this seems to be a problem installing Lightroom with Vista 64 bit.

In the installation under the error message window, it indicates that the setup64.exe file is being extracted when a failure occurs.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?  Is there a solution?

    Thank you

    -Todd

I do not know what causes this problem, but I downloaded the update about a dozen times.  Finally, it is installed on my 64-bit machine.  I then copied the downloaded file which worked on an external drive and it is installed on my 32-bit desktop computer.

It seems that something went wrong with the downloads, because when he finally worked, the same download worked on both machines who had received the same error message on all previous downloads on both machines.

    Hi Roger,

Thanks for choosing Windows and thank you for providing an opportunity to help you.

According to the description provided, you have problems with the installation of 32-bit Windows 8.

The Architecture Cross upgrade is not possible. This means that you can not upgrade to Vista 64-bit for Windows 8 32-bit. However, you can perform a new installation of Windows 8 32-bit.

Note: Make a backup of all your data on an external hard drive, as new facility will result in the loss of data.

Meet us if you encounter any problems during the installation of Windows 8 32 windows little or any other issue, and we would be happy to help you.

  • Windows 7 Pro Full Retail Edition - building a new 64-bit machine.

I installed and registered Win 7 Pro on a 32-bit computer. I have the full retail version, which includes a 32 and 64-bit installation cd

Now, I want to build a machine separate 64 bit of all new components. I would like to install the 64 bit, Win 7 Pro just to the point where I can check that the construction of material and install Win 7 Pro worked.  I should be able to do it from the 64-bit installation CD.

When a system of work is done, I can remove my 32-bit computer, install the software on my 64-bit computer and switch the recording of my 32-bit to my new install Win 7 64-bit.

When I did my 32-bit installation on my current machine, I think I got a 30-day grace period to register for my 32-bit installation of Windows 7.

This strategy works? Is there a grace period of 30 days? Who should I contact at Microsoft to move to the record?

    Ed Perry

It would be helpful to know what version of W7's retail, you have (?)

For example, I have W7 Pro retail.

The COA license key is good for installation on my computer or any other 'one' computer.

With retail W7 pro, I can use it to upgrade to a new computer, if my old one died or I just want a new computer (the old OS is more usable however).

If the HARD disk drive dies I can replace the HARD drive and reinstall without worries.

I can install 32-bit and in a year I can change to 64-bit (and vice versa if I want). There is no time limit on this for 30 days.

There is a period of 30 days at the entrance of the key to the COA on the 32 bit or 64 bit OS, and not on the ability to switch.  32-bit is certainly 'old technology' now and also really limits your choice of 3 GB usable RAM Max!

If your building a new computer, see my article "pinned" Tech PC first about 'breadboarding' a new build :)

New generation of computer? Test the material first.

I have some old DOS programs of 32 bits, especially in Qbasic.  They do not work on my 64-bit machines and I hope not to have to rewrite in a newer format.  Any suggestions?

QBASIC will not work in 64-bit, but you may be able to run a virtual machine XP (32 bit) in XP mode, if your hardware supports.
