  Recently, I bought a new computer and I am trying to reinstall CS 4 on this subject with the CD as much as I bought a few years ago. On my old computer time CS4 and CS2 had been installed.   You can not migrate to the installations of the Adobe software from one system to the other, as these applications install plug-ins and various preferences and code in several locations on your system (Windows and Mac OS - and WIndows was also the question of a myriad of registry entries).   Don't need/want to transfer.  Just install it as you did initially.  If you need a trial of the following download link:

  You are allowed to have two facilities enabled, so if you want to keep a backup installation, you can keep it on the old machine.  If you would rather disable/remove it from the old machine, then you should be sure to turn it off first (open any program and choose Help-> Deactivate)
