installation of games

My children have several windows 95 games. They worked fine on Windows 98 I was running. I bought a new computer with windows vista and it won't let me install the games. It will display the screen, but when I hit install, it does nothing.

You can try running in compatibility mode (right-click on the file that launches a game > properties > Compatibility tab > run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95)

Hmm... Old games for Windows 95... If I remember that some of them were launched in MS-DOS... You were able to launch them from Windows 95, but they used MS-DOS to work. Try this:

Download and install the emulator back from here: http://www.dosbox.com/ this one I think is the most popular (if I remember that I've also used) > launch game using the emulator back (somewhere, you will find information how to do this). In this way, I launched a few really old game, as the Park theme and Desert Strike.

Much more information on dosbox, you can find on their site wiki: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Main_Page

You should also check if these games is listed on this Web page: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/GAMES so you can find the description precise execution using a dosbox.

I recently got a new computer with Windows 7; now, some games Hasbro Interactive (boggle, superscattergories, risk, scrabble) I used to play on WinXP will not install on Win7. (I don't have Win7 professional).  Is there a way to get these games to work again without buy professional win7!

You can try to install in XP compatibility mode if it is the latest OS, they ran OK on.

The idea is that you install the program by not allowing an autorun installation but in locating the file Setup.exe from the game on cd.  Right-click on the Setup.exe icon and choose Properties.  Select the Comptibility tab, then the old version of Windows that you want to.  Be sure to leave the installer put an icon on the desktop.  When you install the game, right click on the setup icon and choose Run as administrator.  Do the same when you launch the game from the desktop.

A better way is to run the game in a virtual machine XP, but you need a copy of XP, you can install it in the virtual machine.  If you have such a copy then you can download Virtual PC 2007 SP1 from Microsoft and install it.  You will receive a message that it is not supported on your operating system, but this does not mean that it will not work.  To do this, but you don't get help from MS if something goes wrong.  Unlike XP Mode, Virtual PC 2007 runs on Home editions.  It just is not supported.

The best solution, especially if you don't have a copy of XP, is simply upgrading to professional because get your money back you simply get a copy free XP which comes in XP Mode.

    Hello Denise

You can install games and applications on the second partition and it will work if there is no problem with the operating system itself. If something goes wrong and you need to install OS again what you will do in this case. You can do anything and you will not be able to play the games.

Anyway, as far as I know avoid any problem. All you have to do is to change the destination folder and set the D partition as a destination. All that s!

    Hi maryann6,

Looks like you may have a hardware problem with your CD/DVD drive. You are able to read all disks you put in (like music CD or other programs)? If this is not the case, go to Device Manager and check the status of the device.

To do this, click the Start button, right-click on computer, click Properties, and then click Device Manager in the left column.

In the Device Manager screen, double-click on CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, and then double-click the device listed under the DVD/CDROM drives. In the device status window, I must say that the device is functioning properly. If this isn't the case, you will have to solve the reader to find the problem. It may be a loose cable or a faulty drive.

The question may be able to be corrected in the fllowing the steps on the following link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314060

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or not recognized by Windows or other programs, so you cannot play or access a CD or a DVD. This issue would have occurred after you installed, uninstalled or updated a program or Windows Vista.

  • Synchronization of a song to the question of the video (installation of game)

Hi all, before I ask for help, I hear deep.

I use hearing aids to help me hear sounds (noise background, so not 100%, especially) but I can listen to kind of songs with lyrics. As when you normal people listen to music, you feel good. I feel it too.

AAE or PP, I can see the Audio waveforms and I can tell where the beats. I can create keyframes based on some time and create effects based on these key frames.

These things kind of helps me, but... since I save gameplay of slow (it usually takes 2 to 5 seconds for a player to die) in this game.

So I cut the clips on my gameplay, but each clip is long enough. And as far as I know, most of the songs I like a lot of beats... Literally.

I don't know what is the ideal approach to do this. I would like to create a good editing so that the public love him. So, here's a nice challenge for me...

You can speed up your clips using the time remapping effect.  If you have not used before, you you read up on it a little before it makes sense.  It is in aid of the AE.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the first can do it too, but I'm a guy FCP/Avid; not well versed in the first.

And since many video tutorials for After Effects are not of great use to you - people are talking a lot in them - I recommend googling Chris and Trish Meyer, or go to their website, the Coalition video Pro.  They publish an excellent series of books on learning After Effects.  You might find them useful.

  • Windows hangs on every game is loading 2.

It is a very strange question that's happened since I reinstalled Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium (after buying a new hard drive).

The first game that I play in Windows is fine, regardless of what kind of game it is. However, after the release of the first game, if I load a second game, any how long after the first, no matter what game (maybe even the same game) Windows crashes completely after the screen goes black with the cursor in the middle.

It is strangely linked to a problem that I had with my previous installation; any game would break Windows after a restart, unless I run a game in SafeMode first, after which he was perfectly fine.

The issue is extremely annoying and I can't find any related issue, no matter how hard I look. I don't want to reinstall Windows try to solve this problem, using another few hours of my time, but I would certainly consider it.

Someone has an idea what could be the problem, and what I could do to fix?

Running Windows 7 x 64, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0 GHz, dual ATi Mobility Radeon 3870 in Crossfire (10,12 drivers), 8 GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAM, HDD 500 GB Seagate Momentus XT hybrid (and 320 GB Seagate Momentus 7200 tr / MIN as a secondary HARD drive).

    Hey, thanks for the reply.

It has proved to be a problem, that my system has been seen with the catalyst display driver. For some reason-no idea why - my system doesn't seem to like the latest Catalyst bit only display driver versions.

I drove back to 10.8 and it seems to work normally.

    Hi Joe Fargo,

    1. How did you remove these games (Start menu or record player or installation of games)?
You can try the steps below to re-enable back and check if it works.
    1. click the Start button, select Control Panel, click programs and then click turn on turn Windows features on or off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. click on the plus sign next to the option of games.
    3. place a checkmark next to the games that you want to play. (If there is already a check mark then, uncheck the box and restart the computer. Now place a check mark and reboot again.)
    4 restart the computer.
5 check if you are able to play these games now.

    Hello

Whenever I try to run a game that uses directx 10, the screen turns off, and the computer becomes inadmissible.
