Installation of incompatible games on Windows 7

I have an old game (Spiderman Cartoon Maker, 1995) I would like to install and run on my computer (64 - bit, Windows 7). However, it is not compatible with my computer and I'm really upset by there! Anyone know how I can install/run this program? I already tried compatibility mode. Any help or ideas you could offer?

The game may be too old to run on your computer because it could have a code of 16 bits in it. 64 bit versions of Windows do not have a 16-bit subsystem.

You might consider setting up in a virtual machine.

Run older or Incompatible software on Windows 10 in a VM

Returns 10 Windows, but the same instructions should work on Windows 7 too.

    BAD VIDEO CARD DRIVERS
This game is my favorite and it seems that Windows 8 is not compatible with my video card.
Do not think that they could release an update for this? Or can not?

    Hi Matheus,

Minecraft works on Windows 8 (see for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXYN2OtQJtY where they mention - almost at the end - the potential update your video card driver) and has even been certified.

One of my sons had the same error (BAD DRIVERS of VIDEO CARD) under Windows 7. After updating the video card driver, he was able to play Minecraft...

Last but not least: Windows 7 drivers usually work under Windows 8 so much worse of cases you can install your Windows 7 video card driver to solve your problem.

Please help me solve this problem

original title: windows 7 gamer edition

Download of software on these sites can be very risky, because the origin of the files are usually edited and its quite possible that they could have injected malicious code in it.

Windows 7 Gamer edition is not a developed Microsoft or affiliated with the product, what appears to be a customized image of Windows 7 that authors customized to remove or add Windows components, which can also be very problematic.

You use something that no one can help you consider he has probably been reverse engineered and probably injected by a malicious code like spyware (keyloggers, rootkits, worms, viruses). I suggest you stick to Windows 7 Ultimate, this is the most complete edition of Windows 7, anyone can have.

  • My games of windows 95 are incompatible.

cannot play any of my ole favorite :(games

on all previous versions of windows, as I could, n I have possessed all, even if they are 16-bit from my days of windows 95, they played fine on 32 bit systems, but now on 64 I'm out of luck, unable to enjoy: (n

I understand that you have tried to run in compatibility mode ? (right click on the file that launches a game > properties > Compatibility tab > run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95)

If you have at least Windows 7 Professional edition, you can Download XP mode also and try to execute them to use it.

Hmm... Old games for Windows 95 that are 16-bit... If I remember they started in MS-DOS... You were able to launch them from Windows 95, but they used MS-DOS to work. Try this:

Download and install the emulator back from here: http://www.dosbox.com/ this one I think is the most popular (if I remember that I've also used) > launch game using the emulator back (somewhere, you will find information how to do this). In this way, I launched a few really old game, as the Park theme and Desert Strike.

Much more information on dosbox, you can find on their site wiki: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Main_Page .

  • Games on Windows boot camp

You can run any Windows program, including the games, so that your machine meets the requirements of the application in question. Once install BootCamp and Windows installation, you actually turn your Mac into a Windows PC. Find the requirements for the game you want to run and compare them to the spec of your machine.

  • Cannot install Games for Windows Live

I need to install Games for Windows Live to play several games on this laptop.

When I run gfwlivesetup, all downloads very well and gets to the point where it installs GFWL and I get the following error every time:

"An error occurred during the installation of assembly ' Microsoft.VC90.CRT, version ="9.0.21022.8", publicKeyToken ="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b"processorArchitecture ="x 86", type ="win32 "'. See Help and Support for more information. »

Looking through several log files, I discovered the error to be (0x8007078f) code that relates to, "connection failed: the machine you log on is protected by an authentication firewall." The specified account is not allowed to authenticate on the machine. »

So two things come to mind. The account is authenticated and firewall. Well, my account is an administrator account and right click on gfwlivesetup and choose "run as Administrator" does not change a thing. Well, screw the router, I just take the right out of my router modem jack and plug rather the ethernet of my laptop, without going through all the ports that can be blocked. The only firewall that is up and running (the only one installed) is the MS OS firewall, so let's just turn this baby off and still the same error.

So if we ignore all the error code (0x8007078f) completely, then we can treat the error originally presented... I see basically: processorArchitecture = "x 86", type = "win32".

Well, I'm running a Windows 7 64 - Bit, and my processor is a Core i7-740... I am out of the resources here. I have seen many people having the same problem or similar (Google reveals a lot). So if someone is willing to stick with me throughout this, I intend to see resolved (at least for me). I only pray that as I did not reinstall Win 7 or make repairs. They do not understand all of these DVDs with the laptop.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi D33Viilz,

I found a post on the Games for Windows Live site that has addressed your question.  Here are the steps and the link to the original post:

If you're running Vista, you can not uninstall all .NET Framework before 3.0.

If you haven't already, you will need to download 3.5 SP 1 here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=AB99342F-5D1A-413D-8319-81DA479AB0D7&displaylang=en

If you are running Windows 7, it should have the most recent of the .NET Framework.

Also, I would say that you are using the tool Mod proposed (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301) to completely remove Microsoft Games for Windows LIVE and LIVE Redistributable.

When you have finished using the cleanup utility, check that it has been removed through programs and features.

Restart your PC, and then re-download the newest Client of Games for Windows LIVE here: go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9640147

  • Games for Windows 7 and other things

Three questions. I am currently using windows 7 rc and I tried to install a game that has been relased for vista only.  When the final version comes out I will be able to install on windows 7 or should I set up my secondary hard drive with my vista just to be able to play these games? Second element is I have a media player Extender hooked into my TV and with the CR I can't play my movies of the comp at the tv will this problem be resolved?  And finally I run a proccessor QuadCore with technically five gigabytes of ram, four on the motherboard and the other on my video card and Vista, my processor speed was a 5.9, but for some reason any Windows 7, it shows as a 4.4 whats the agreement on that?  other then that like the look and have had no problems with it again and actually think go against my own style and ordering a first edition software which is something I never really have.

You should not have problems during installation and running the game on Windows 7.  As for other concerns you have, who should be resolved in the finished product and if Intel ever get the of it act together and starts to communicate with the developers of software and hardware.

I have also included a statement from one of my previous posts just for those who may be reading and the question.

Windows 7 will the have same backwards compatibility with programs that Vista has.  Which means that if the program or game is old (XP before or at the beginning) the chances are that it will not work.
Windows 7 includes some versions of virtual XP which will allow you to run old XP programs in a virtual XP machine.
If you include Virtual XP, Windows 7 will be able to run all XP software without problem.  Don't forget that you will need to have the right hardware to use virtual machines such as Virtual XP very well.

    see you soon
