    tan7655,
If I read this correctly, you have a portable computer that do not have an operating system on it.  You try to install Vista and get the error.
You've restarted the Vista installation?  So then you get the same error? If you have tried to install more than once and continue to receive this error, check that the laptop is capable of Vista?  You may need to check with the manufacturer of the laptop to see if it is able to support Vista. • Windows vista installation interrupted, click OK to restart the computer, and then restart the installation

I was doing a reformat of the factory for windows vista on the laptop of my son (packard bell EasyNote LJ 65) when the battery is dead and the computer turned off. When I started it back up it gives the message: the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Setup cannot continue. To install Windows, click OK to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.
Everything I try, I get no further than this message, I don't know where to go to continue the installation. The computer does not see that the installation was not completed. I tried to enter the menu with F9 where I had to do the reformatting of the factory of windows but it will not give me the option to continue installation, it shows just the vista Windows, but when I click brings back me to the error message
    Help, please!

For questions about the recovery process, contact the manufacturer of the computer.

This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft.

  • Nagging "restart the computer to complete the installation of updates".

Using Windows 7 and had automatic windows updates turned on - I now will choose updates to install.  While I use my computer, the dialog box appears constantly on my screen asking you to restart the computer to complete the installation of the updates.  I restart the computer a couple of times and yet the box is always displayed.  It is obvious that restarting the computer is not the problem.

  • Error "Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. "When you try to install Windows.

How can I configure my windows 7 after restoring my laptop to the factory conditians?

My laptop had a blue screen and I couldn't get rid of it, I went into safe mode and restore my computer to factory conditions. When the computer says "the installation program starts services" you stop and I couldn't turn it back on for 15 minutes. When I turned on and tried to contained my setup, a message keeps poping up "the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error." Windows Setup cannot continue. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. "But no mader, how many times I reboot my laptop, the same message appears. What should I do? I've restored my computer several times and never had this problem.

    You should try another recovery.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

    How to exit this loop?

    OK, here's what I discovered.

When you get the error message mentioned above, you can hold down the SHIFT key and press the F10 key.  This will put you in the command prompt.

At the command prompt, type: bcdedit [then press enter]

so to solve my problem I hade type: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot [then press enter]

This put the loop I lived and finished restoring Windows 8

  • Installation of the automatic update continuously restarts the computer

Has been notified of an automatic update, so I clicked on install.  An update was IE8.  Don't know what the other was.

At one point, the update indicated that it needed to restart the computer to complete the update.
Computer turns off and when he started upward, the following text appeared:

Configuring updates stage 3 of 3 0% complete
Do not turn off your computer

It remained for about 5-10 seconds while the computer off.
It's now an infinite loop which he can't seem to escape.

I tried to reboot in safe mode and command mode prompt secure, but it keeps on rebooting over and over again.  Update supposedly created a restore point, but I can't restore.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358 does not work because the computer still restarts when starting in safe mode.

    Now that?

Was able to borrow a Vista CD and get to a restore point. It seems that perhaps the only way to recover because no security Modes allowed Windows to come. Next computer will be Linux!

I was able to solve the problem with a chat with HP technician. He proposed to restart the computer. When the first screen appears, press F8. then go on winodows repair. then you climb across the name, country etc. After that, you get the options to reinstall, repair, or restore to the last update. Restore the computer to the last point where he worked well. My problem has been resolved in this way.
