Installation of Sierra of macOS problems

I downloaded the software of the day the software out and I tried to install it.

I use a Macbook 2012 mid pro running El captain.

Installation of macOs Sierra hung. I checked online that there was a way to see the progress of the installation by typing Command-P and I did but my macbook pro kernel panicked and rebooted and it was happening in loop.

I called support apple customer and tried the following steps:

1. I went into recovery and verified mode hard drive.

2. in recovery, I tried the option "Reinstall macOS Sierra.

3. I have reset the PRAM and the SMC

and in the end after all that, I restored my macbook pro from a Time Machine backup.

At first, I thought that it might be a problem of material, like the RAM, but the computer started beautifully after that I restored it to El captain.

Then I thought that it could be the software so I re-uploaded it tried to install it again. Same question. Kernel panic and the loop.

If anyone has any fix for this please tell me that I really don't want to use macOS Sierra

Hello Aniket8880,

Thank you for your question on the kernel panics and upgrade to Sierra on your Mac. We love never heard of problems with the updates or upgrades. I want to offer another method for updating your computer on Sierra.

The first thing we want is that all your data on a Mac is safe and that you have a recent Time Machine backup. Once you have confirmed your backup, we want to format your drive and reinstall the current operating system, and then try to upgrade to Sierra without any of your personal data on the computer. We need to try it because the information in this article help: OS x: when your computer restarts spontaneously or poster "your computer restarted because of a problem." says that if your Mac restarts unexpectedly, known as a "kernel panic" error. After the reboot, you will see a message that your computer has restarted because of a problem. The most likely cause is a faulty software. A kernel panic can also be caused by damaged or incompatible, hardware including external devices attached to your Mac.

Before you erase your hard drive, make sure that the license for the El Capitan is connected to your Apple ID. If you went into the App Store to download and install El Capitan with your Apple ID, while the license is here. To check, please open the App Store, and then click purchase. Make sure you see OX S El Capitan in the list. If you do not, look for OS X El Capitan and click on 'Get' to attach it to your Apple ID. You even don't need to let him complete the download at the moment. Once you know the El Capitan license is attached to your Apple ID, please open this help article: How to reinstall OS X. See the section titled "If you sell or give away your Mac» We use this section steps because we want to completely erase the hard drive, as explained above. Then, reinstall the current operating system on the Mac, which is the number of step 3.

Once you restart the Mac, it will look new as when unzip you it in the first box. Set up your account, but don't restore all personal data from the backup disk yet. Once your account is set up and you can access your desktop, go ahead and reopen the App Store. Search for Sierra and download and install it now.

If the installation finishes successfully, and you can start up to the account you made, we recover your data from the backups that you made. Because the backup is in an operating system that is older than what is on the computer now, you will need to use the Migration Wizard to retrieve the data. This Help article will help you with this: move your content to a new Mac. We can say that the accounts are the same; or there may be an alert, you must check before you do. or it will ask to replace the account, make a new account, or merge the data. I recommend you make a new account. This way if you have a kernel panic when you try to start the account that had the backup, but do not know the question when you start in the new account that you created, we will know that there is a problem with your backup data.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.

I have a Macbook Pro retina mid 2012 with a processor clocked at 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M 1024 MB graphics, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM and a SM768E of APPLE SSD flash hard drive. I ran disk utility, and it says everything is fine. I tried different approaches, several times, but no matter what I try, I can't seem to install the new macOS Sierra. I even wiped my entire computer and started from scratch, by installing a clean OS X 11 (El Capitan) and then try to install the Sierra, but still it does not work. This makes me think that maybe that's a problem with my App Store account? But given that I was connected, I'm not sure that it could be. Or maybe it's hardware related? I do not know. Even the SR Advisor. Apple I was talking with the phone was perplexed.

Super frustrated, certainly would like some advice, thanks!

With my old iMac with OS Lion everything works as it should and there is no problem, so I think it has to do with not working is not driver problem?

    Hello
The HP scanning application is not compatible with Sierra, so you may experience problems.
Remove the HP scanning by moving it to the trash, then empty the trash.

Instead install HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed in the Applications folder:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/installations/Essentials/HP-easy-scan-1_7_0.pkg

If you experience additional problems, ensure that the latest version of the software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, make sure that your drivers are up-to-date by clicking the Apple icon, select about this Mac and then press on software update.
Click on the Bank on the menu bar, click Reload Page, click all update if an update is available.

Data transfer has replaced the latest system. In this case, you're supposed to use the Setup Wizard, or the Migration Wizard, or drag - copy files.

  • After the installation of Sierra, calendar does not work

After installation of Sierra, when you open the calendar on my Mac, missing entries and the screen is frozen with the comment 'Moving calendars to the server account.' I signed that I the cloud to see if it would help, but I still have this problem.

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, Stanley Star.

If I understand your message to the right, at the opening of the calendars for the first time after upgrading to Mac OS Sierra, you are missing calendar events and the app is frozen with a message saying "moving to Server account schedules. Calendars, this is one of my apps used on my Mac, so I certainly understand the importance of having the opening and operating as usual. I'm happy to help you to turn it on again!

Icloud and a signature was an excellent step to try. Here are the steps I recommend to do next:

    1. Check that the date and time are correct in your Mac by following the steps in macOS Sierra: set the date and time on your Mac.
    2. Close the present calendars on your Mac. If you are also reminders, close that as well as reminders and schedules work together. If the calendars close normally, will not force close it by clicking the  in the upper left corner of your screen, select force to close, select the calendars in the list of open applications, and then click the button close Force.
    3. Go to System Preferences > iCloud and uncheck the boxes next to the calendars and reminders.
    4. Restart your Mac.
    5. A times restarted, open again your calendar application, select "Calendar" in the Apple menu bar in the left corner of your screen, select "Add an account", choose iCloud and sign in with your Apple and the password.
    6. Give your calendar some time to sync and charge all your data. Once it is loaded successfully, and you can see all your events, open the reminders and do the same steps for signing in iCloud there are also well.

MacBook locked during installation of Sierra. Pressed the power button to a hard reboot and now can not initialize get only a message stating your computer restarted because of a problem of waiting to continue to go, but it keeps looping to the same Message and keeps trying to restart.

I put the installation disc in a attempted to hold the c key during the restart and the same thing happens

The installation disk will not help on a Mac running macOS Sierra.

Start your Mac while pressing the command + R keys.

From there, you should be able to use the built in utility to check, repair and restore the OS X disc using OS X Recovery.

    6. Quit disk utility.

    Create the installation program

Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Choose according to the command line appropriate (in red) on the OS X installer you want. Paste this entire command line by underneath at the Terminal prompt:

    Order for macOS Sierra:

    sudo/Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia--volume/Volumes/MyV--applicationpath/Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app

    Order for El Capitan:

  • Sierra of MacOS - Siri cannot make voice calls.

    Hi guys,.

Siri is supposed to be able to make phone calls via the iPhone, the Mac, in the Sierra de MacOS?

Cause I can make phone calls (not the Facetime calls) fine if I use the Facetime on Mac app and click on the phone number, I want to call, or if I take a certain number of Contacts. But if I try to open Siri and make a voice command to "call X", he always tries to do through Facetime. Which means he's trying to make a Facetime call instead of a voice call normal.

Is this a bug or missing feature? Is there a fix or a workaround for it? I wish I could use Siri on my Mac, just as I do on the iPhone.

I observed the same behavior, so I think it's a missing feature.

And page (below) which deals with Siri on Mac shows a command "FaceTime", but not a "Call" command  (As I say, I used the "Call" command and observed the same behavior you did.)

  • A copy of the Sierra of MacOS and travel on the same volume

I installed a new copy of the Sierra of MacOS, and most things seem to be well-oiled. However, I noticed that when I copy a file and paste it on the same volume, a copy of it remains in the original location. So, by example, if I download a file in the Downloads folder and then copy this file in Documents, a copy of the file remains in the folder downloads. On previous versions of Mac OS x, the default action might have to move the file of Di-ownloads of Documents. Is it possible to recover this feature?

Another totally independent question is I see also that Terminal does not save orders, after its closure. So if I entered a command then close Terminal, after the reopening, I have to type the same command again. On older versions of Mac OS x, we could simply use the arrow keys to navigate through previous orders. Is it possible to recover this feature?

Try the press / hold down the command key while you click and drag a file from one folder to another. Like El Capitan, this should move the file.

About Terminal, the up/down arrows always work for me to remind the right Terminal commands like they did with El Capitan.

The recommended method for re-index/reconstruction is to open Spotlight preferences panel in system preferences, click on privacy. Now add the drive that you want to re - index to privacy window. Now delete this same player of the Privacy window, and it will now be indexed/rebuilt. No necessary terminal command.
