Installation of Windows 7 Professional on Dimension 8300

Can someone tell me if I can load a new unused 32 bit OEM Full Version of Windows 7 Professional on a Dell Dimension 8300?  I'm looking at this version because it allows me to save a lot of $$.  I bought all the other updates required for memory, hard drive, sound card and graphics on this computer at Dell.  The operating system would be the only feature that would not be purchased from Dell.  I would also like to know what happens when I change the original hard drive.  I'm losing the info on this old drive when disconnected?  I was wondering if I can put it back in if I have problems with the installation of Windows 7 on the new hard drive.  I did a full backup of the old hard drive.

Another thing, Dell support didn't warn me hardware virtualization that is not on this computer processor, so I think I have a few problems with the help of some of my old XP software.  Apparently you need virtualization in Windows 7 XP mode.  It's a big problem for me because most of the software I have bought is for XP.  What happened to backward compatible programs that meet the needs of all.  Guess I'll have to take that with Microsoft.

It's been almost 2 years since this was posted.  For the record: I installed Windows 7 Professional (purchased at Microsoft) and the OS works fine on Dell 8300.  Made all of the changes recommended before installation, the disk (500 GB), sound card, graphics card, etc.  System worked without problem for 2 years and just about everything that I need to work that has been installed with Windows XP works!  Now, I'm trying to figure out if I can install a map update for USB 3.  Hope that this thread will help others who have kept their old system.  I think that the Dimension 8300 has been one of the few product really Dell computers that can be updated.  More big limits can be the IBM processor and motherboard.  By the way Dell initially told me that this computer will not work with Windows 7.

  • Problem drive Installation in Windows XP Professional Version 2002

Hello, I had problems with my Installation of Windows XP Professional disc, that is authentic. I run the Setup, everything is going very well... I get the "Welcome" screen I press F8 and then he said something in the sense of "we see that it is empty and almost died, go buy another drive of installation if you are qualified or something." It is a legitimate disc, I used this before a long time ago, and I have still 3 uses on it. I check my settings, all right, and the computer was made for Windows XP.

Is there something wrong? What I really need to get an old installation disc, which will probably costs me about $ 50 just to get shammed?

    Please answer.

1 CD can get damaged or dirty, but...

    2. to learn more, you must provide the exact text of the error message.  It appears from your description of the error message, if you have an installation CD 'upgrade '.  What is the screen that you see? -->

If that's what you see, you will need to find a CD for one of the listed versions.  You should be able to find one of these for not much money... very few people is eager to something like Windows 95 install these days.

    3. you shouldn't be pressing F8... at least not with a normal Windows XP installation CD.  For the sequence of screens, you see, look here--> http://www.theeldergeek.com/xp_pro_install_-_graphic.htm

  • A Windows XP product key will be recognized to activate one installation of Windows 7 Professional

Windows 7 uses own unique product key, Windows XP product key can activate Windows XP.

You can find software OEM System Builder of dozens of online merchants. The current price for OEM Windows 7 Professional Newegg, for example, is $ 140. When I checked a few minutes ago, Amazon offered packages OEM Windows 7 Professional from several vendors at prices ranging from $ 101 to $ 150. When I checked earlier, a package specifically designed for reconditioned PCs cost only $ 50 for a 64-bit copy.

There is no technical limitation to prevent you from using OEM software on your computer, although this software only works for a clean install, not an upgrade. In the past, Microsoft has been remarkably inconsistent in his advice to clients on the question of whether this practice is allowed. (See "is allowed to use Windows OEM on your own PC? • Installation of Windows 7 Professional on a computer laptop windows preinstalled

So yesterday, I did a check disk on C:, but since it froze because of some damage to windows, I force shut down (I'm sorry), but when windows came after that, the internet was off because the diagnosis Services policy has been down. After awhile, I realized that half of my registry was severely damaged causing most of the main as firewall programs and some services stop and does not start again. I checked all permissions, but nothing allows me to activate the services. My computer was really slow and freezing all the time anyway so I want to reset it to factory settings, or at least format my HDD, but the problem is that my HP laptop had Windows 7 Professional pre-installed on it so I have no disk to reinstall. Now I need help or opinnions popular on what to do, please someone help me on how to reinstall windows without the disc. (Restore doesn't work either) (I checked for the virus as well)

    Hello

One option would be to create your own Windows installation disc, but you must always be able to read the activation key of 25 characters for Windows 7 Professional of your COA label - an example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can download the Disk Image, you need from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source - Digital River.

    Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software you may need are by entering either your model number. or Nr here.

  • New installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit does not install the Windows updates

I tried it twice.  I install Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit on a ThinkPad T61.  After installation and activation successful Windows, I tried Windows updates.  The 'check updates' never ends.  After the first installation of Windows, I tried all sorts of bugs found either here or other Windows Help Web sites, does not.  So I reinstalled Windows, but with the same result.

After that the first installation was impossible to install updates, I received the Windows Update stand-alone Installer and downloaded the stand-alone files for updates.  Would install things like IE updates, but no security update would install, as well as most other updates.  Yet once, just standalone Setup would continue to search for already installed updates without ever ending.

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks for the comments.  It's good to hear that you have actually solved the problem.

  • Installation of Windows 7 Professional oem on a mac using bootcamp

I just bought a new imac (I have not yet put in place yet) and I plan on installing windows 7 Professional on it via bootcamp.  Installation of an OEM version will be in violation of the license agreement?  Thank you.

Well, it is not intended for consumers, its for systems integrators, who are building computers and sell them to consumers. Nothing prevents you use though. Technically, you could call your Mac a new PC because it does not include a Windows operating system.

You need to understand the consequences of running OEM Windows 7 although:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Clean installation of windows vista Professional (copy provided by msdn)

    Hello

I have some old windows XP SP2 and sys. specs are Intel 3 Ghz processor and 2 GB of ram
The hard drive is only 40 GB
I'm upgrading my computer (only the operating system) and you want to install the copy of windows vista business - provided by MSDN
    Here's the problem
I've logged into my account and have a free copy, so when I try to download it through me the 4 step procedure and wants to be stored (downloaded) directly online in the TEMP FOLDER.
-> (download, authorization, unpacking and installation processes).
I want to do a clean install of VISTA professional AND would like to get rid of windows XP SP2.
How would do this, because I wonder to execute a procedure of the 4 step (see arrow above).
    Would appreciate suggestions and help.
    Thank you
    MT

    Hello mt4448,

MSDN software are downloaded as ISO files (finally they do when I download them). The ISO must be burned on a DVD and then it is simply a case of starting your PC, insert the DVD into your DVD drive and then restarting the PC again. You do not want to check that your DVD player is your first boot drive if the installation does not start.

Take a look at this link from my Web site: http://vistasupport.mvps.org/install_windows_vista.htm

Also visit this link to change the priority of the disc: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_enable_cdrom_support_i.htm

If you have a modern PC 2 to 3 years already, the CD/DVD drive should be set as first boot option.

  • Free games, absent from the Custom Installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (solved)

Free games, usually provided by MS do not appear in Games Explorer.

I also checked under C:\Program Files and C:\Program files (x 86) subdirectories of a directory of Microsoft Games but could not find.

Perhaps, they are 32-bit applications and not included in professional installation 64 bit?

Any ideas on the conduct of the 'Mini-Setup' or 'repair' of the CD 64-bit to get the installed games?

P.S. And I worry what else does not settle... moaning...

    Thank you
    Stanley.

Edit: Don't you hate people who post a question and then find the answer using the search feature CAREFULLY... I know that I do anyway, I dug deeper and found the answer: a need to be on as a feature of Windows...

    Reach...

Control Panel-> programs-> Windows features turn on or off

A pop-up will appear.  Wait what he to populare, and you should see a Games folder.  You can check mark the games that you want and press OK and it will install.

  • Error 0x8007045D when the Installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I tried to reinstall windows 7 after installing my new mainboard Asus M5A97 THE R2.0, but the process stops at 1-2% and raises the 0x8007045D

Error message. I quickly put in shape and repartitionated HARD drive. Still the same error. I tried again after formatting the HARD drive with partition wizard, low
repartitionated once again, still getting error 0x8007045D.
Also updated my bios, did chkdsk assistants / partition sector audit, which both say the HARD drive is fine, installed xubuntu and archlinux with no problem, reformatted and repartitioned once again, changed my SATA controller in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE, has released 1 RAM module, tried to win 7 64-bit Professional without SP1 and win 7 32 bit Prof. I ran the install disc in both UEFI and normal mode (of course with GPT table partition mode uefi and mbr in normal mode), tried to cables and SATA connectors, different and burnt and tried them all iso alone at least two times (with different programs).
Installing Windows from USB Flash Drive also tried.
I still get error 0x8007045D with each I try unique installation.

Wow, looks like you have almost tried everything to what is material.

The cause for the error code is often a scratched or dirty facility...

Since you've already tried to burn multiple ISOs, it could be your optical drive.
