Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro L20

Hi all!

My problem is with a Satellite Pro L20.

My hard drive broke so I replaced it. Now, when I try and install windows xp pro on the new hard drive, it does nothing. First of all, I put the disk it starts to load and say to support on enter to launch xp installation, R to repair windows or F2 to exit but when I press ENTER, nothing happens if I press R, it starts to look for windows in order to repair, but no windows system cannot be found because it s not been installed but know someone or have any good suggestions on how to get windows installed.

Any information would be most appreciated.

I could also just add that when the computer starts first and it s on the first boot of the bit with the Toshiba logo we have 2 options F2 and F12, none of them work when I press them and also when I pressed r in the window xp installation you should be able to type exit, and then enter to leave but some type of keys and some don't but be4 just broken hard drive it typed very well no problem, if it is the problem cos I can't press on enter how fist to solve the problem of keyboard?

Thank you once more for the reading of my problem.
Kind regards
Dave

I used a panel of USB plug-and-play installation of windows this fantastic worked

I need for the program to install windows Millennium Edition on my new laptop, but when he starts (during the installation procedure) search for devices it crushes and just stop.
What can I do? I tried to update the BIOS but still the same after.

I really put t know what you can do, but I really don t understand why you buy the laptop latest designed to the latest operating system available on the market and then try to use the older operating system. I hope you know that there is no support for older OS.

In my opinion, much better and cheaper option is to buy second hand laptop and install the earlier operating system. With more Ram, the older unit will run fantastic.

The second problem are the drivers and Toshiba tools that work well with me. Where you find them? You won't find them on the official download page of Toshiba.

In any case, good luck and I hope that someone already try to install ME on the same unit.

I need help to determine which driver I need to install to control the SATA hard drive.

Because many know that the SATA drives will not work when installing Windows XP, Windows XP does not have drivers for this type of hard drive.

I have located on drivers site Web for hard disk for a toshiba XP machine, but I am unable to determine which driver to install (list of 15 when I load floppy)? or it doesn't work because the machine was installed with vista?

Is it possible to match a HDD to the pilot?

    Hello

The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
There are a lot of discussions on this subject.

I found these two Toshiba HowTo that describes step by step how to do:

+ How to integrate the AHCI driver during the installation of Windows XP.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD9401AN0000R01.htm

+ How to integrate a SATA AHCI driver into a Windows XP Setup CD.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm

Seems the Satellite A200/S01 PSAF6A-06S01N belongs to the Australian series of Toshiba.
Drivers of this laptop are on the Toshiba on THE page but you can also download the Storage Manager Intel from the page of the European driver Toshiba or Intel page because the hardware is the same.

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hi guys,.

I have a problem installing Windows XP Home SP2 (listen Slip) edition in my new Satellite Pro P200 with 2-120 GB hard drives. The vehicle currently has windows vista professional. I followed this link to a similar question on this site: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go % 21 and created disk Intel Matrix Storage manager so that I could use "F6" to install the RAID drivers during the installation of XP.

I got to the point where I was able to recognize the hard drive and I was able to select the partition where I wanted to install WXP. Once the NTFS partition has been selected and formatted, Windows XP Home edition Setup prompted me to insert "Intel Matrix Storage" diskette into the A: drive. I have this drive in my floppy USB drive.

However he didn't even read the disc. Hard drive never turned on when I pressed the enter"" key. It seemed as if the installer froze, however I was able to push "F3" to exit the installation program. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Is the USB problem?

    Help, please!

  • Installation of Windows XP on Satellite Pro L300D-136

    Hello

I realize that this question is very similar to those posed elsewhere on these forums. I tried after the solutions proposed elsewhere but were unable to do anything at work.

I'm trying to install XP Pro on a Satellite Pro L300D 136, which is currently under Vista.

I tried to get into the BIOS and change SATA compatibility mode, but I still get a blue screen of death when booting from the installation disc. Reading elsewhere on the forums, that I understand that I have to use nlite to include drivers SATA on the installation CD, I'm not sure how to find out what drivers I need. Number of threads talking about MSM from Intel, but my machine has an AMD Athlon processor. Does make a difference? Where can I find the necessary drivers in the download section of Toshiba?

Thank you in advance for your help, this is the first time I tried to replace a windows with another OS...

    Yes, it makes a difference.

For laptops equipped with AMD processor (they don t have an Intel chipset) you need the display driver.
In the display driver package are the SATA drivers you need.
You can find it on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

    > Does anyone know if there is a driver for windows 7
In my opinion you have Win 7 drivers on the Toshiba page for this oldie.
I found a FAQ from Toshiba on Win 7 support and Pro L20 is not there.

You should check your sound chip and do research on some pages of part 3 of the right driver Win 7

  • Need to reinstall windows, but does not have any CD - Satellite Pro L20

Hi, I wanted to reinstall Windows XP home on my Satellite Pro L20, but do not have the software that my laptop came with (read the discs lost). I have a valid XP tone (like its stuck on the bottom of my laptop), but no disc so I tired using a copy of a cd of Windows XP home, which did not work, but let me go as far as the formatting of the hard drive.

So now I use Ubuntu, but want to reinstall Windows. Have valid product key, but no software to reinstall.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Christopher

Valid key will not help you. This key belongs to the image recovery and copy included WXP he.
If you have two options. Either you order original Toshiba recovery image or use Microsoft installations CD key which belongs to this copy. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Good luck!

Well, you can t find all the LAN for Win2000 drivers on the Toshiba page because this unit has been delivered and tested with the Windows Xp operating system.
However, I found the information that the appliance has a CL LAN Realtek 8100.

  • Reinstalled Windows XP now WLAN is not recognized - Satellite Pro L20

I reinstalled Windows XP on my Satellite Pro L20.

In Device Manager, I have a number of yellow question marks, which means that the operating system has not installed the drivers and therefore does not recognize the device.

I downloaded the v5.3.0.35 Atheros Wireless Lan Driver Atheros dated 09/12/07 and tried to install these next to the 'Network controller' device, but nothing helped.

Someone has an idea of what I might hurt or something else I could try? Sole purpose of the laptop is wireless connectivity, so I'm anxious to get this sort.

Thank you very much for any assistance you can provide.

    Hello Thomas

It will be interesting to know what L20 you exactly (L20 - xxx). It will be easier to identify what material is built into it.

Anyway, as far as I know this laptop comes with operating system Windows XP Home edition and will be best solution to install using the supplied OS recovery media. The OS will be installed just after 20 minutes and all the hardware components are configured correctly.

Of course, you install OS on your own. On the download page of Toshiba just follow instructions order facilities and avoid all the problems.

Back to the Atheros WLAN card. After you download the driver Atheros for Windows XP Home edition, open the folder INSTALL and run the setup.exe file. What happens when you do this?

  • Necessary recovery for my Satellite Pro L20 CD

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 with Windows XP.
I made a CD of recovery for him and there is no partition separately to install the system from it.

So now, even though I own a license number, I can reinstall my system. I called the company that has exclusive rights to Toshiba in my country, and they say that they n t have this recovery CD anymore (my knees is around 3 years - so it s not that old right?) and that s their last word on this situation.

Is someone can you please tell me where can I get this recovery CD? I can buy it anywhere?

    Thank you
    Mihai

    Hello Mihai

As far as I know Satellite Pro L20 comes with recovery CD and there is no option for the creation on the new laptop models. This option doesn't exist.
You wrote, it is the oldest model of laptop and I can imagine this company doesn t have for this model of laptop recovery media.

Toshiba recovery media can be ordered under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but I'm not sure that you will be able to order it for this older model laptop, but you can check it out.
If you will not be able to order the original Toshiba recovery media, you can install WXP using the facilities of Microsoft CD. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba supports the page.

One more thing: number on the bottom is for the recovery image and cannot be used with each installation of Windows XP Home edition CD.

If you need assistance with installing WXp let us know.

  • Chipset utility refuses to install on Satellite Pro L20

    Ello,

I am trying to sort out Satellite Pro L20 a friend (PSL2YE-00E007EN), but refuses the Chipset utility to install. I am running as Windows XP Pro (SP2) with nothing else on earlier, Chipset utility installation program keeps saying I don't have a supported chipset or the OS. The Intel Chipset ID utility fails to run as well, any ideas what might be up?

    Hello

There are two different sets of Satellite L20. A L20 series was delivered with the Intel graphics chip and the other with the ATI graphics card.

You can install the utility Intel chipset on Satellite L20 with GPU Intel but the Satellite l20 with ATi graphics card does not support the Intel chipset utility.

I guess you re an owner of the second series of L20 with ATI GPU.
The driver of ATI graphics card that are already on the page of the Toshiba driver contains the chipset (GART) ATI driver.
Therefore, only install the ATI graphics driver and enjoy! ;)

    Best regards

    Hello!

Have you really downloaded the correct driver? For this model are XP and Vista drivers available so I think that you had to download the wrong driver.

Try again, maybe the download file is intact. If it doesn t work once again, you can download the driver also from Intel.

But normally you have a Toshiba Recovery with all the drivers and tools disk. Install from this disc and you have a clean and ready installation.

  • Satellite Pro L20-212 - USB 2.0 does not work

    Hello

I own a * Satellite Pro L20-212 *, * Windows XP (SP2) is installed, but USB2.0 does not work *. I see nothing on USB 2.0 in the Devicemanager and the speed of the USB 2.0 devices attached is at the level of the USB 1.1.

I don't know what information is needed to help me with this problem as it should normally work on my laptop (and I know that the laptop has USB 2.0 ports).

What I have to install a special driver to use USB2.0 or is there any software on my laptop that I need to activate?

    Thank you very much
    Frank

    Hello

Did you install the image on the Toshiba Recovery CD? This image contains the Windows operating system, Toshiba drivers and additional utilities. After installation, everything should work fine, and also the USB ports should work also.

The USP ports, you can find in Device Manager in the serial BUS controller universal section. Open the tree and check if there is some yellow exclamation points.
Then try to remove the Device Manager, the controllers and the USB hub and restart the laptop. After restarting again the OS should recognize USB controllers deleted again.

I hope that this accelerated procedure will help you.
