  Backup method has not changed in vSphere. Virtual MACHINE remains in snapshot mode until the virtual disks are transferred.

  It depends on whether the virtual disks are provisioned thin or thick. With thin configured virtual disks you will probably not be able to delete snapshots, because basic disks may develop. However, with thick, configured virtual disks basic disks will be will develop not just yet, so delete the snapshots should work without problems with the virtual machine off!   I just talked to Dell support on my problem and this is apparently a known issue with local Europe\UK.  The similarity of our problems might be useful - workaround for me was to settle the Locale\Regional from my PC, where I'm doing it in the United States.  Not the time zone or other settings, to control panel, then "Region and language", then on the first tab, 'Format' box should be set to "English (United States).  Close browsers, start again and it worked for me.

  Might be worth a try if you're not already in US format. (mine was in the United Kingdom).

• 6.1 VDP on vSphere WebClient 6.0 fails to display the status of recent tasks (VICLIENT shows something completely different... real information!)

  Running vCenter 6.0 and 6.1 VDP and after launching a backup job (via web client vSphere) I can see the beginning of the task, but only using recent tasks of the viclient (IT IS NOT display any status or progress via the web client).  Now what makes this problem, a question is that of the virtual machine, I didn't go to the backup task to create a shapshot.  The ONLY REASON I know this is because recent tasks viclient showing the progress of the task of backup drew my attention to the question.  Even after a refresh several times in the webclient service indicates that the work was done, never completed, or FAILURE under section tasks recent.  Research in the section alarms the web client fails also show no indication that there was an instant failure on one of the backup jobs.  The only way to view the State would look at Console tasks in web client I could also see the work and not a backup but unless you have already searched for failure would not have known you.

  It's very relative when VMware push customers to use the web client over and the viclient seems even less we continue losing features.  Has anyone else had this problem with VDP 6.1?  If so is some fix allow some "RECENT TASKS" to actually show the same status in the web client and the viclient (they speak both the same vCenter then why don't they contain the same information?)  Accurate builds I use are the following

  Hello

  No, you cannot use HIT / ME in this case.   The HIT kit requires the MS ISCSI initiator to work properly. For creation and restoration of snapshots.

  VSM is against the whole VMFS data store.  First VCS invites you to create snapshots, the VMware VMDK VSM will require instant volume EQL.

  VSM don't offer currently not at the file level restore.  However, you can do it manually.

  Bring the EQL data store snapshot online.

  Connect to a node ESXi and add this snapshot of the data store to that node.

  (With storage add, after a new analysis of the ESXi iSCSI initiator)

  It renames the snapshot of the data store for: "snapshot - XXXXXX -

  You can do a few things here.  Copy the original entire virtual disk of the snapshot to the data store. Or more generally to add the file VMDK from the snapshot on another virtual computer as another drive.

  When you start the virtual computer, it will appear as a new drive letter.  Then, you can copy individual files of this copy.

  An important thing to note.  When you use a snapshot, you will use instant reserve.  So make sure if you attach not already 100% instant reserve that increase you it as much as possible.  If you consume the reserve of the snapshot, you work with is removed.  According to which EQL FW version, you can borrow from the free space.  This is especially true if you replace a VMDK set.   That will use up to the reserve very quickly...

  When you are finished with the EQL snapshot, make sure first that no VMs still use it.  Then put the instant EQL offline in EQL GUI.  And then do a rescan the iSCSI initiator in ESXi GUI.  This will cleanly remove the volume from the node ESXi.  Otherwise, he might try constantly to reconnect to the EQL snapshot, generating errors repeated in the EQL GUI and alerts if you have set up.

  So, I realized to my problem but I did have the time to test in production. I used Windows 10 Professional. I found out later that it was not supported by VMware Horizon 7.  However, it seems that the new version 7.03 has announced that it supports Win 10 Pro. So I want to try my conclusions and see if that solves my problem. I will present if I have some luck. It might be a little time as I'm working on another project. Thank you all for the comments.

  Instant Clones is the feature of VMware Horizon. It is not available in vSphere.

  In vSphere Client c# , I had the chance to see an overview of all virtual machines and their snapshot spaces: home - inventory - warehouses and store data from cluster - storage tab views.

  By selecting my data center on the left, I had a glimpse of all the VMs on a data center and size of snapshot (on all data warehouses). See my attached screenshot.

  I just upgraded my vCenter to 6.0U2, so I did not tab views storage more.

  Does anyone know how to proceed with the Web Client vSphere? I don't want to check every vm or each data store but would like to have a similar overview of instant spaces of all the virtual machines on all data warehouses.
