• Instant space question - images

  Hi people,

  This is my first post here, because we are quite new to this and I want that what may be an obvious question.

  I tried searching but as you'll see in the issue specifics mean no search results does not give the information I'm looking for.

  Basically - I am deleting snapshots and the snapshot copy in the parent image before deleting the snapshot itself.

  So the amount of used space increases actually before that this tax is reduced.

  So you need to more than enough space to delete snapshots.

  My question is:

  Based on the attached picture, space must be in the "storage used" Vs "storage provisioned" in the summary view.

  Or is it the 'ability' Vs 'Space used' in the views of storage?

  I saw my storage used to achieve the same capacity as the storage provisioned last time I deleted a snapshot and I panicked that I was running out of space!

  I would be grateful to anyone who can me explain this in simple terms please.

  Instant virtual computer just use any free space to store data.   This free space is the difference between the capacity column and space used.

  Implemented storage is the amount that could use the virtual machine, and this double amount whenever you take a snapshot in order to allow a rate of 100% full of change in this snapshot.

  Above all, you won't have to hit major problems (as VM stop) unless your space used = data store capacity.

• Instant capture files increase in size after copy

  I have recently setup a u1 ESXi 4.1 installation. One of the virtual machines has two (vmdk) disks running w2k3 and there a snapshot taken while the virtual machine is suspended. Before making some major changes to w2k3, I decided to save this VM by copying (while he was still suspended) all the files to another folder in the data store using the datastore browser in vSphere.

  It worked well except that I am intrigued and frightened by a sharp increase in the size of the two snapshot vmdk files. The original shots have been respectively 508 MB and 82 MB and base vmdk files are 20 GB and 10 GB respectively. After copying all the files from the virtual computer to another folder for backup in the data store, the snapshot vmdk files had increased in size to 10.2 and 5.5 GB respectively. Base vmdk files have the same size as the originals.

  Could someone please explain the increased size. Clearly after a dozen shots if this behavior has been reproduced for each snapshot then any copy would fill the entire data store.

  I have found no documentation why this would happen, but this behavior is what to expect when Instant copying VMDK. I did a few tests some time ago (I think it's with ESX 4.0 GA) and the only way - if I remember correctly - to copy the snapshot files without increasing the size had to vacate the snapshot by first transfer to a new vacuum/folder on the same data store (far enough from the base vmdk) and copy it.

• Preliminar CC 2014: Custom schemas disorder conclusion/transfer/deletion

  Hi all

  I did some research on these questions for several hours and have no solutions so far. I need a little help.

  I'm working on a major project involving the ingestion of lots of images and which apply custom metadata. My main question is trying to transfer my diagram of custom metadata from one Mac to another. I stumbled on what appeared to be solutions for others in 2013, but they don't seem to work for me now.

  On the original computer I was working, I could find my. XML file which seems to contain all the information I need. (I can see all my custom in the disorder of the text properties). I found the XML code in Documents > Adobe > prelude > 3.0 > metadata Preferences. There was nothing under library > Application Support > Adobe > XMP. There were some files in this folder but none of the custom schemas I created.

  So next time, I take my XML file for the new Mac. By creating and saving a new custom metadata defined , I was able to locate the folder that contains the XML code, which was also under the ribs > Adobe > Premiere Pro > 8.0 > profile-ComputerName > metadata Preferences. (I had to create the folder "Metadata Preferences" on the side of the prelude). If I paste my XML in these files, I am able to choose as the option in first and prelude, but in no case contains my custom schema. Moreover, I can't seem to find out where these patterns be saved to? I created a bunch of test patterns that will be displayed in PL and Pr, but I can't delete them in programs. If I could delete the files in the Finder, (as in the case of my XML), then I could be on the right track to find ways to get the schema that I want in this file.

  I hope that all makes sense. I write from my iPhone as I don't have internet in the new offices, what I am. I thank in advance suggestions. I also note that there is a difference between save a customized schema set and save individual and custom patterns. The latter being the main problem for me.

  Well, I was lucky enough to get this figured out. The appropriate library folder is normally hidden. To view it: highlight your folder (Macintosh HD/users) users and then click 'OK' at the top of the screen, with the menu button hold "Alt/Option" on your keyboard, and the library folder right will appear. It is in many respects identical to the other, but this guy had the files it contains! (MacintoshHD/users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/XMP/Custom File Info Panels/4.0/custom/**your to .xml *!)

  From here you can move, delete your XML files and it will be displayed in both Prelude and first, etc. A very simple problem that caused a massive delay/frustration. Hope this can help someone else in the future.

  They mention the word 'some' videos or Flash content in Previews appear as one piece of the puzzle - not they once more were wrong, based on my research in this, show me all/majority of Flash content is missing previews of form.

  When is Adobe going to this address? First Apple, now google, located next to slam Adobe software. And its US developers/designers who are now paying the cost of this carry on. Now, it will be even harder to push Flash on websites, especially business. It's very disappointing at all, I'm sure.

  When I open a file in any folder in the finder, in an application that is linked to iCloud, i.e. 'Expert PDF' or 'Preview', I opened, the file will be copied to the application folder instantly. This only happens on Mac.

  It looks like a feature and not a bug.

  iCloud is not really duplicate files in the files collection of application.  It looks like a file duplicate of the same size as the original, that you have opened, but iCloud is record storage by creating symbolic links. .

  I checked several of apparent duplicates in the Terminal, and if I list the file with the Terminal command

  I see that the inodes are identical to the original and the duplicate.  So no additional storage is required.

  I just bought a 1 TB of storage icloud and with the 1st attempt to copy a file, I got the message ' point 'Photos' cannot be copied because there is not enough free space. "

  How does the iCloud?  I bought the extra space in order to save my old NTFS hard drives so I could then wipe them and format them to HFS before returning data

  I am so - drag files directly from an external drive, so they are copied. It is true that the first case was big enough - 220 GB. So I went to smaller - 1 GB worked, 9 GB worked, but then 14 GB does not.

  Then I tried a few new smaller files - about 1 GB and they worked but then a record 2.6 GB failed.

  I tried 3 files totalling 39 GB of my local documents directory - and they moved (not copied) "instantly".

  What happens here? Is it because it's an external hard drive? Because it is NTFS? The fact that I have less than 1 GB of storage available on my boot drive it affect?

  Also - when I moved the data to local storage to icloud, when will I see the space on my local drive actually become free?

  In a perfect world, I really wish I could you select the 990 GB of several files on my external hard drive, and then drag to icloud only once - then leave from one day to the next, or more.

  If these data you "move" to iCloud aren't on your system drive, it is your question.

  iCloud is a synchronization between your local system drive and iCloud service. So if you copy data to an external hard drive, what you're doing is to copy it to your local HD and your iCloud drive.

  Having just now booted to safe mode and empty the contents of/Users/yourname/Library/Caches in the trash, but it made no difference.  Have a time machine backup of it is 6 weeks, but not yet used.

  Seems that I'm not alone... maybe Apple was too fast it rush out before the big event in next weeks...

  Trash content of/private/var/folders/and restart.

• I Tunes major frustration

  I had to uninstall and reinstall I Tunes today due to the fact that it was not store any new albums etc in my files. Yes, I had checked all the instructions on how to synchronize files, but nothing is is past then thought a reinstall would fix things.

  Now my major blood boil is because when I checked all albums / songs in I tunes now they show an exclamation mark beside them telling me that I need to move the files. I almost 4000 songs and 90% are now showing that I need to check the files. Every time I have find the file and get rid of the exclamation mark, and move on to the next, I have to re - open the user / Itunes / media / music can find the track on the album and click on it. I then airs gracefully removes the exclamation point. I have to do this 4000 times?

  I don't know what happened to ITunes but it became less and less easy to use with each update and I'm about to chuck the whole program in the tall grass!

  Make sure the drive letter assigned to drive the file hosting is static and not dynamic; feel if they find on the "E:" drive "E:" does not change "F:" or "R":

  I currently use an iMac (late 2013, with 2.7 Ghz 16 GB RAM and Intel Core i5 processor) with the Mavericks, and I intend to do a major update of the OS.

  Do you have any tips to update, or do the update now expect for Sierra with El Capitan, then update again with Sierra later?

  In other words, given my hardware configuration, should I update in one step directly to Sierra or two-step (with update to El Capitan, and then to Sierra)?

  Sierra is in beta and the Beta applications are never remmeneded for production systems, only for the test.

  Past that we cannot discuss the details of the current pubis BONE more vs the current beta OS in these forums.

• Firefox instantly hangs at startup
