Intel VT Linux on Tecra M5-402

Hello

I own a laptop Tecra M5-402 (Core 2 T7200, 2 GB of Ram, NVS 110). I enabled Intel VT in the BIOS (really the BIOS, stripped windows that were placed above it no longer exists on my hard drive, like Win XP pro) and my home Linux kernel 2.6.23.1 (support KVM).
VMX appears in the list of the cpuflags, but however, when you try with qemu and VMWare Workstation 5.5, I received the message that VT is presented by the CPU but not activated.
All the world is the same expierence, or it market for you, and if how do you it works?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers.

Hello.

1. have you installed add-on kvm module intel?
2. check for KVM file is present?

  • Boot Linux on Tecra A10 SD

Hi, I have a fairly new Tecra A10 running Vista. I would use a SD card (SDHC, ideally) to boot Ubuntu/XUbuntu.

I can do the Linux work from a USB startup key, but can't seem to work on the SD card. the methods that I used for the USB (taken from the site PenLinux) do not seem to transfer.

At the start of the machine, I use F12 and try the option to boot disk/SD or USB port, or causes my boot SD card.

I guess I have to do something with the "SD Boot Utility" to force the card to look like a floppy disk. But I don't have the slightest idea how to do it.

    Any thoughts?

    ; Nigel.

I am wanting to do exactly the same thing with a nice shiny new Portege R500. I installed 'successfully' Ubuntu 8.10 on my 8 GB SDHC card (it has detected, partitioned correctly etc.). I put the bootstrapper on the map, I thought it would be able to see that, as partition bootable, but it did not work at all.

I considered if I have to install the bootloader on the physical hard disk, but do not know if it will help (i.e. put something in pointing to/dev/mmcsd hd0 (or whatever it was called).

Assistance (we two) would be greatly appreciated! I'm sure that it's possible it's I have to be. I also had same experience, that Linux would boot 100% AOK off a USB key, but it would just do nothing on the SD card.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Instructions for Debian Linux on Tecra A10-112

    Hello

If you need to install Linux (I use Debian), then take a look at: http://www.martinjones.net/tecra/

Although I think the page will go through a number of revisions, it is now at the stage where it is useful and almost all the equipment does not work.

  • Linux on Tecra 8100

I just installed Kubuntu Linux on my Tecra 8100 500 MHz. I ran the Live CD for compatibility, and everything seemed OK although "very slow - poss. combination of cpu speed and CD reading speed."

In any case, I partitioned the drive with 2 GB for /, 256 MB for /swap and the rest for/Home (6 GB). The / partition could no doubt be bigger that I have 356 MB of free space.

I can say that everything has been recognized including PCMCIA network card. It starts in KDE with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768, and I can connect to the Internet via eth0. Shared Samba on my main desktop PC are available.

I intend to use the laptop for the purpose of demonstration to customers (websites). I'll probably add other software, but have not yet tried follower. So far so good.

    Hi Mike

Thanks for the posting. The problem is that Linux is not supported, and each user is alone. If you want to check out Linux forum here and you will find some useful links for the use of Linux on Toshiba laptops.

  • Installing XP on Tecra S5 - Intel Matrix Storage Manager

    Hello
Im trying to install XP on a Tecra S5.
As described in the manual, I have created a disk with Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
With a floppydrive USB I tried to install XP with the F6 method.
I could choose the suitable from the disk driver and was able to create partitions and format them.
Some time later in the installation process, XP asks for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
    in the A: drive.
Although disk is still in the drive, there is no reaction.
Even when I change the disc, nothing happens.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Start the installation of Windows XP Home edition again, and when necessary to load the driver from the disk using the F6 option. This will make the disk HARD visible for the installation of Windows XP Home edition. When the HARD drive is recognized properly installing WXP. Later when WXP is installed correctly you can change the structure of the partitions.

I do not understand why is floppy disk suddenly not accessible anymore. Check the data recorded thereon.

  • Tecra S11 - 11G - Linux installation

    Hello

I got a Tecra S11 11 G and I want to install Linux Mint on it.
During installation, I get the error that 'acpi CCP probe failed.
I googled for the last hour and I discovered that it can be connected to the uefi boot mode.
    But my laptop has uefi?
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

    Thank you
    Theboda

You can run Linux Mint live view? If so, start Linux Mint in direct mode and run GParted. In the GParted menu bar, click view , and then click device information. If the partition table is reported as TPG, the hard disk is partitioned probably for UEFI. Another control, you can do is to search a tagged partition ESP. An ESP partition indicates also that UEFI is in use.

  • Tecra Z50 - A - Intel Rapid Storage Technology does not

    Dear Sir

We bought a lot of laptops Toshiba Tecra Z50 - A with a hybrid HDD (with SSD cache).

    The exact model:
    TECRA Z50 - A
    PT544E-00D01TBT

We staged and repartition laptops via SCCM.
However, when you install all the drivers and the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software, I see that only rge WHAT HDD is used and no partition SSD with the Intel RST.

    How we enable this?
The problem is that the performance is incredibly bad.
Laptops are very slow, even if the specifications are good:
    CPU i5-4200U
    8 GB RAM
    Windows 7 x 64

No idea how to turn this Intel RST?
In the BIOS I find no option for RAID, as must be enabled for the RST to work.

    Thank you

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly the RAID mode. There is no RAID mode.
The laptop was equipped with a 500 GB SATA HDD HYBRID.

The part of the HARD drive is used for writing, the SSD part for the reading of the data.
The performance of SSHD can be placed between a HDD and SSD, but it s significantly slower than an SSD.

If you have already installed the - Intel Rapid Storage Manager driver, then the service should work

In the case where it does not run in the background, try to install the latest Intel RST page of Intel driver.

  • Tecra S10 - 123 and Linux Mandriva boot problem

I have a Tecra S10 - 123 for two months and wanted to install Mandriva on it (I have no experience with Linux...). I burn the Image on Cd image .iso file and changed the bios settings to boot from the CD-ROM. It works without problem, but Mandriva stops to boot from the Live Cd once the kernel is loaded.

    What can I do?

Maybe it's a SATA question, have you tried to set the SATA Mode in the BIOS to "COMPATIBILITY"?

Work the other flavors of Linux? Maybe Ubuntu will install properly.

  • Tecra 8000, linux & ethernet & pnp

    Hello

I am trying to install Linux on a Toshiba Tecra 8000. The problem is with a chipset Realtek ethernet PCMCIA card (module: 8139too), which is recognized, but the network is unusable. I always get an error of SIOCSFFLAGS and assigned interruption is 0, which means that it has failed. I have read many times that I have to disable plug-and-play, but there is no choice when I start with a floppy and run the TSETUP. EXE. Y at - it an alternative to this? Do you have any other clues?

    Thanks, Thomas

  • Several screenshots on Tecra A7 (Intel 945GM)

I have problems with my Tecra A7 to display using a Mobile Intel 945GM chip. At one point I started having multiple copies of my office on my screen - two down, two entering the bottom overall, with the top of the fifth and sixth copy.

Initially it was just for Toshiba and A? Â? Recovery of Windows? Â? screen, but eventually he remained this way all the time. Windows works normally, with just four copies really small office. An attached external monitor works fine. I tried box full screen (without borders) in the graphics from Intel, as well as all the shortcut keys Manager I've seen the list - nothing works.

Looks like the screen of your laptop has problems connecting or don't know, maybe there is something wrong with the display.

Because, as you have already tested an external monitor with your machine, I doubt a driver update or relocation would help here.
However, you can try it, but to get to know what is exactly the problem, go to a SPA and let check them your laptop.

  • Is it possible to buy Tecra A8-104 only with Linux as main OS

Is it possible to buy the Toshiba Tecra A8-104 with Linux preinstalled, or without any OS? I like to use for the majority of free software, but I wouldn't pay for Microsoft OS.

    Hello

AFAIK in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) something like that is not possible. I'm not 100% sure, but something like that is possible in the United States.

  • Tecra M5 - cannot install Intel graphics driver 945GM

    Hello

A few days ago, I bought a Tecra M5 opportunity.
When I received it, the HARD drive has been formatted and I had no CD with drivers from the laptop.
So after a while, I found most of the drivers I need... only the driver for the Intel 945GM does not work, I tried the Toshiba homepage and the homepage of Intel, the two do not work...

One of the Toshiba Homepage gives me the error "one or more files are damaged or are missing. The installation program will be interrupted. »

[I found this Thread here: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=83858], but I did not really help, but the problem seams to be the same.

    So please help me.

    Hello

How have you tried to reinstall the Intel driver?
Have you tried to do this UN Device Manager?

Go to Device Manager, select the unknown device (appears if the driver is not installed), and then choose Update driver.
Then choose the option of advanced installation, then Don t research. I will choose the driver. Point to the place where the driver package was stored and uncompressed.

Usually, this should help to reinstall the driver.
