Tecra S11 - 11G - Linux installation

Hello

I got a Tecra S11 11 G and I want to install Linux Mint on it.
During installation, I get the error that 'acpi CCP probe failed.
I googled for the last hour and I discovered that it can be connected to the uefi boot mode.
But my laptop has uefi?
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Thank you
Theboda

You can run Linux Mint live view? If so, start Linux Mint in direct mode and run GParted. In the GParted menu bar, click view , and then click device information. If the partition table is reported as TPG, the hard disk is partitioned probably for UEFI. Another control, you can do is to search a tagged partition ESP. An ESP partition indicates also that UEFI is in use.

  • Tecra S11 - 11G - external monitor flickers when the Wifi is enabled

I have a similar problem on my brand new Tecra S11 - 11G. The only difference is that the problem is present only when I have my laptop plugged in and turned on WiFi radio.

If I turn the Wifi radio off and keep the laptop connected to the power source, the external screen keeps flickering. If I keep the WiFi radio and disconnect it from the power source blinking stops, too.

I reported this problem to Toshiba customer to the Portugal (where I bought it) and they gave me the ticket case #710008193. They said that they would not replace the defective unit and that I should leave for repair. It is absolutely amazing because the laptop is brand new. A customer still expects to have a well work product when needed out of the box without having to call the repair man. I think it is their obligation to replace the damaged aircraft. In addition, this laptop is part of a fleet of the company who buys only Toshiba laptops and we are talking about a Tecra and not a Satellite. We deserve more respect from Toshiba.

In a year or two, I have a new laptop (company policy) and it surely won't be a Toshiba.

    > They said they would not replace the defective unit and that I should leave for repair. It is absolutely amazing because the laptop is brand new

That is why amazing? A hardware malfunction can still happen and this happens not only in the world of the computer/laptop. Therefore, manufacturers provide a service to a client and failure may be fixed and covered by the warranty.

    > A customer still waiting to have a well work product when needed out of the box without having to call the repair man. I think it is their obligation to replace the damaged aircraft

Of course you are right, but in the reality of things happening.
My PS3 died after a short period of time. It has been fixed and replaced under warranty conditions, but this isn't a reason for me to say; I would not buy PS3 more because of this problem.
My BMW had some engine problems, that it was fixed under warranty and I would buy this car again once because this car is great and I think other builders are no better, and I think this would also happen to other manufacturers

That s my personal opinion in the opinion

  • Use of DVI port on Port Replicator II with Tecra S11 - 11G

    Hello together,

    I use a Toshiba Tecra S11 - 11G with port replicator.
I use an external monitor L1950, it is connectetd with VGA cable.

Now, I want to use the DVI Port of port replicator, but the monitor did not detect the signal.
Is it possible to use the DVI connection?

    Kind regards

    Michael

    Hello

Your Tecra A11 does not support DVI port
The Replicator replicates the ports available for laptop. But if the mobile phone does not support a certain port, then the port replicator is not able to reproduce such interface so I guess that's the reason why DVI ports could not be detected using port replicator.

PS: did you install the driver provided with USB 2.0 Port Replicator II package

  • 11G Linux installation

I try to install 11 G R2 under Linux Fedora.

I followed all prerequisites to them and when I go through the Installation it gets about 28 percent of the way through and then pops up messages like the one below.

    File not found /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/owb/wf/admin/wftload.sh

If I press the button continue it comes up with another file that is apparently not there in the same directory above.

I don't understand why when I followed the prerequisites before you install 11 G.

Not sure why this file is missing. Were you able to successfully unzip the zip to download without errors?

  • Tecra S11 - FN + F5 won't switch to VGA screen

I have a problem with the Tecra S11 series.

When I press the FN + F5 button to poster that the system refuses to respond to my request and automatically comes back on the LCD screen. (Or in the case of an external VGA monitor to the monitor).

Because of this problem, I am unable to switch between the screen of my laptop and my VGA monitor when I want to work in my office.

I found a few ways around this issue, like the mode of presentation, but this isn't the way it is intended.

Can someone help me with this problem?
I already tried to install either the 'Hotkey utilities for display devices"and"change of display device. Both packages try to start, give the cmd.exe window and then the error output a "; Installation Failed. "message.

    More information about the system:
    Toshiba Tecra S11 - 11G (PTSE3E)
Operating system: Windows XP (company policy).
    BIOS version: 2.20

I hope someone has an idea about this.

  • New installation Tecra S11

    Hello

I am a builder of network and system, so I think I know what I do... well maybe one of you could help me solve this problem
I'f contacted Toshiba Netherlands but just don't know what to do... then you are my last hope ;)

    History:

I'f purchased a new Tecra S11 came with BIOS version 1.6 (very old I think)
removed the original HARD drive and used an SSD instead.
Installed a fresh WIndows 7 Profecional and tried to get everythink...

Fist now first I was unable to update the bios to version 1.7/2.0/2.2 (latest)

Toshiba Netherlands told me that I needed to use the default value provided to Toshiba picture
and as Toshiba didn't support BIOS update on non-preinstalled-OS... (which is really weird in my opinion!)

So I replaced my SSD with HDD original (with the original Image) and updating the bios... today to version 2.20 (last)

Now when I install my SSD with my own Windows 7 installation (installation non-Toshiba) I cannot install m any
    utility provided Toshiba...
For example, utilities Eco said after launching the setup "Not supported BIOS"
I ve installed tools all THE Toshiba and patches which ware tinien... but half isn't!

bottom line, is there a way to "force" the ECO and all other utilities that do not work in a NON-Toshiba installation?

Any help would be appreciated! I just can t believe / unless there's now way to get a fresh windows install the right way to work
    with all Toshiba Utils!

    Thank you in advance,

    Jacob

In General, all the stuff you can find on the Toshiba download page are the same integrated in the Toshiba recovery image.
To be honest I don't understand you at all.

If your laptop comes with Win7 you can install this image on your new SDS. Recovery image contains Toshiba drivers all important patches and the Toshiba-specific tools and utilities, using this recovery image that you have perfect configured operating hardware and software.

Therefore, I see a problem only - additional software from Toshiba. No you don't have to use all of it. All you n t need simply to remove from the system. You can delete all you want, but you will still work with OS. After doing this install your favorite software.
Recovery image Toshiba is ideal for creating a pre-installed OS perfect and optimized according to your own needs.

To be honest I do the same thing all the time. Believe me to remove the software usually I need any time but at least have exactly what I want.

  • Tecra S3 RAID-0, the Linux installer does not recognize the hard drive

    Hello

I've been googleling much and the only one I found is a post on this forum: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=8758

I have the same problem, the RAID controller is not recognized by one of the distributions of linux in circulation, and so the hard drive is not recognized, so the linux installation is not possible. I tried FC7 and SUSE9. Due to the demands of work, I need to install FC7.

If there is no driver available for linux, it is possible to disable the RAID controller on the laptop? If so, is that someone could put a guide of how do, or send me to a good link on the subject?

    Thank you
    Alex

You will be very happy if someone with S3 and Linux will write here. Until you wait for the check you must fill the pages of Linux support:

Maybe you will find some info here.

  • Tecra S11 - what are the two primary partitions for?

    Hello everyone

I just got myself a new Tecra S11 with Win7 64 and there is one thing that has me littlebit wondered.
In total, there are four partitions, there are for sure the recovery a (1.46 GB) and the system a (256,38 GB), but then there are also two primary partitions (8.86 and 31.38 GB) without displayed use or file system. There is no unallocated space.

Can someone tell me what are these two partitions? I want to split the system partition to store my data on a separate, if possible I also want to use that 'unknown' space then ;)

Besides that: don't worry, I already have recovery DVD.

    Greetings
    Nico

I put t know why you now have the new structure of the partitions, but the important thing is that you create recovery DVDs and if something goes wrong with the preinstalled recovery image OS or HARD drive you can use DVDs for the installation of the OS.

  • Re: Tecra S11 - Dual boot Windows 7 and XP

I installed Windows 7 (from the hidden to the hardrive recovery section) on my new Tecra S11. I would like to know if I can use the Windows XP
recovery media provided by Toshiba to create a dual boot Windows 7/Windows XP rather than go back to XP?

    Hi dualboot.

As far as I know it of not possible to create a dual boot with XP and Windows 7 Toshiba Recovery disk. The problem is that the recovery disk erases the entire HARD disk, so there is no option to create a dual boot with another operating system.

If you want XP too you need to a normal XP installation disk Microsoft or you use virtualization of Windows 7 XP mode, if some n t applications run on Windows 7. ;)

  • Tecra S11-166 - thermal management for Windows 7 64-bit

    Hello

has obtained a new Tecra S11-166.

The work of doesn´t thermal management tools.
Toshiba has installed the old Power Saver Tools (like they're for Vista). But these aren´t not work at all.

Where can I get a new working Version or is there someone to share the secret how to remove the power management?

    "Toshiba Power Saver V8.8.1.64.

    Thank you

    Jürgen

Maybe a stupid question now but can you please tell me how I can find this thermal management tool?
Toshiba power saver tool on Win7 is not much different as on Vista. There are some basic as Vista settings. Controls most of the supply a Microsoft power management.

Options don't work on Toshiba power saver tool?

Tool of Toshiba power saver is part of the added value package and you must try to remove as a single tool or remove any VAP. After doing this you must start VAP new installation (the most recent version of the Toshiba download page) but don t use it as installation express but as defined by the user and on the next step, you can define which applications should be installed.

  • Tecra S11-14 t - Windows is not go further after updates

    Hello
    Tecra S11-14 t
Two times the same problem. Problem after installing updates Windows 7 x 64 d Description of the problem: after installing six update - restart windows - after entering the password to login as an administrator - I... Hmmm... does not further!
Withdrawal of previous state wines - does not help, same problem. After that installation of the hidden partition on the HDD is ok, then instantiated windows update and again the same problem!
I suspect that some sort of update is in conflict with a program of the factory. Technical Microsoft said there are no other entries with the same problem.

How to check the update does it hurt? The method of manually select and install the update will last forever.

    Hello

One way would be to start the Firefox Profile Manager in each Linux instance and that it points to a profile of another Firefox installation folder, preferably one that has been customized in a satisfactory manner. You can then delete the profile by default in every Linux installation.
