Intelligent understanding of vector objects in PSD

I'm trying to learn how to use smart objects in PS for editing files created in artificial intelligence. I watched the Adobe TV video as well as a few others. It seems easy as pie. But one thing confuses me. What is the file that is created vector called Object.ai Smart? I have to do something with it? Will he and recorded anywhere? I don't see in the folder where I have stored my psd file and. It just seems to go away when I shut the whole thing down. BTW I'm in cs 6 and use the import command. Thanks a lot for helping me understand this.

If I'm in CS 6, then you say I can currently remove the file have and still be ok - that's how works the CS6 & Embedding?

Yes. You can check it easily. Move the file HAVE to another location via Explorer/Finder for Photoshop won't find it. Open your PSD file and you will see that Photoshop opens the file very well because there is no more connection to the original file.

And if so - what are the benefits of creating a binding compared to the current Embedding - now available in CC? -Once again - thank you very much!

Say, you use the same logo made in Illustrator on projects for example a letter head, a poster, a card, no matter what. Now that your customer said: I love all the different layouts but I think I would have preferred a green text instead of the text in blue... No problem at all for you, change you it once in it HAVE file and it will automatically update in all related objects.

Obviously in this case, the file I cannot be deleted or moved, or Photoshop (and you) will have a heart attack...

  • Conversion PSD vector object drawing

I did some drawings of characters of cartoons in Photoshop. In which case it is important, they drew with a Wacom tablet, black lines, with the color inside the lines.

Is it possible to convert these characters to editable vector objects in Illustrator CS5? And if so, is there a dummy tutorial?

(I tried to use the trace function, but it converted characters to objects that have all the points that I could change.)

I would be perfectly happy if I could just bring in Illustrator black lines and add color to the cartoon characters, once the black lines have been converted to vectors... but trace keeps filling the inside of the drawings to the related with white. For example, if I have a layer with nothing else that a line of black circle, then tracing was going to turn into a black circle with white on the inside.

    Suggestions?

OK, two things to know about the vectorization. (1) you must develop the trace to be able to change her visit at this time there (no pun intended) track is no longer live. (2) open the properties of the trace to disable fill background with white. It is enabled by default.

OK I lied, yet one thing if you plan use illustrator, you will need use the pen tool that your life will be easier than using the vectorization. Also, using the pen, you will have an idea of good works of the tool pen with photoshop. They are slightly different, but close enough you will beable to use one or the other. As a bonus with the tool pen in photoshop, you can export the drawing as an illustrator file that you can then work on directly in illustrator if necessary.

    There is no all.

Illustrator and MS-Office share not all the graphics features of construction at the file level. There is no universal edit-ability between the two.

.. which is the best export (eps, emf, or svg), then insert a vector file into PowerPoint?

If your Illustrator illustration is vector of 100% and contains no live effects, complex gradients, blends, etc., the first thing to try is copy > paste special > enhanced metafile.

Otherwise, SPE may work, or you can use the pixelation in PNG. Personally, I do not consider export raster format Illustrator to be a stable workflow method, so I'd be inclined to use Photoshop as an intermediate step: Illustrator > Save As PDF > open in Photoshop > save in PNG. Just my preference.

I take my flower, add a line, compensate for this trait, then select Add to Pathfinder, which gives me visually the exact shape of offbeat perimeter I'm looking for.  The problem is that this isn't a vector path in its own right.  Is there a way to get Illustrator to recognize the lag shot as it is vector own way

Please forgive me if my terminology is off that I am not a formally trained graphic designer.

    MP,

If I (put) understand it, object > decaying appearance.

There is a difference between effect > Pathfinder and window > Pathfinder.

  • Is it possible to create vector objects like forms composed as draw them (automatically)?

I would like to start using Illustrator more frequently for web interface design projects and the user, but I still want to take everything in Photoshop for final rendering and compositing (and the simple fact that most developers want to psds, not files have). However, I believe that the only way to transfer all of the work of Illustrator vector and preserve as vector objects in Photoshop (during export) successfully must manually convert each individual vector object in Illustrator to a form of compound (by selecting the shape by clicking make compound shape in the Pathfinder palette menu). This can be very tedious if it must be done after the design is complete and very inefficient if you convert all the objects you draw it.

Is there a way to define Illustrator to automatically create each vector object drawn as a form of compound without having to manually convert?

A bit of history on this issue...

Adobe Illustrator allows you to export your Illustrator document in a Photoshop document. However, composed of paths (not composed Forms - see this article for the not-so-great explanations in comparing the two), which is the default attribute that is applied to the entire base of the Illustrator vector objects, do not convert to vector objects when the exported document is opened in Photoshop. On the contrary, vector objects in Illustrator get flattened in raster in Photoshop layers, which makes them poor candidates to refine the design in Photoshop.

    Two possibilities:

Start with a simple form of compound and use it as the beginning of each new path:

    1. Polygon tool: Mousedown. Drag. Press the arrow key down until you have a triangle. MouseUp.
    2. White pointer: click on one of the sides of the triangle. Remove. (Now you have an open path from the 2 segment.)
    3. Filling: any color. Stroke: No.
    4. Flyout menu of the Pathfinder palette: make the compound shape.
    5. Drag the path just beyond the origin of the artboard (or any other convenient location).
    6. Copy.

Whenever you start a new path, start it to make a paste (Ctrl V) or in AltDragging a copy of the original. Then start edit the pasted path, which is already a form of compound.

    OR

Use a (macro) Action to apply the form of compound to do after you have drawn the paths:

    1. Draw two paths. Select the first.
    2. Actions palette: start recording.
    3. Flyout menu of the Pathfinder palette > make compound shape.
    4. Select > next object above.
    5. Stop recording.

Now, when you finish a drawing:

    1. Layers palette: select the object down.
    2. Actions palette: click several times on the button Action run (or put the palette in button Mode and click the button several times).

As with all in Illustrator, in guard abound:

    • Why there is no control loop for Actions is beyond me. So if you want to, you can duplicate the two steps in Action, say, nine times and it will convert it 10 paths by clicking.
    • Using the method of Action, select it > next object above command will not pass between the layers. So if the paths are on different layers, you will have to manually do the bottom, select object for each layer.
    • As you probably know, if forms of Compound Illustator have strokes, fills not only, Photoshop shape layers resulting have paths, but lose the fills and strokes. So the above two methods works best if the Illustrator paths are filled and outline before converting into shapes composed.
    • Illustrator Javascript considers that a form of compound a PluginItem. Therefore, it is conceivable that we could script the conversion of a simple path that is composed in a form by using the method sendScriptMessage() of the app object. But you must know the right settings for the plugin, I did not.
    • If only you could invoke an Action of a Javascript of Illustrator, you can just use a Javascript to loop intelligenty through objects and perform the Action for each... but this is an another big 'if only '.

This has happened in at least two computers running Illustrator CC and one more running Illustrator CS6. What is the problem? What can I do?

  • Vector objects deform?

Hello guys!  I have a problem in Illustrator and don't know how to solve. I would like your help.  I created a vector object, but when I resize the object, it loses its original form, in other words, it deforms itself. Straight lines are twisted, etc... Vector objects deform?

Probably, align with the pixel grid is in effect. Select the offending object and check the setting at the bottom of the transformation Panel.

When you started the new document, you chose the 'Web' new document profile under which snap to grid of pixels is selected automatically and applied to all new objects.

    Hi AlieneGirl,

    1. Start by clicking on the anchor with the direct Selection tool
    2. Convert this anchor of point, so that you can have access to the handles (a corner point does not give access to the handles).

    3. get the Convert Anchor Point Tool (SHIFT C) and click the inflection. This will allow you to move the direction handles independently.

    4. slide now, just good handle downwards (see reference above)

    5. now drag the handle on the left under the same angle in above reference

    6. now drag a shade of yellow to the gradient panel to replace the orange you

    7. now you must position the gradient - the best way to do this is to go to the gradient tool (just click letter G), and you will see the following slider change:

8 simply slip the hollow circle in the Middle a little bit to the right and down to reposition themselves in the center of your gradient. You can also set the cursor directly if you want to increase the brightness.

    I hope this helps!

  • Convert a complex vector object to grayscale

I have a complex vector object containing forms of all sorts and which do not. They have two colors: black and red. To use this logo in a background area, I need to make all gray. What is black or red must then be light gray or almost. But the appearance Panel cannot do one thing. He said only: "it is a group, I can't handle this." So I disconnected all of the object, then there are other subgroups. I could go to dissociate from everything to always, but that can't be the solution. When I just click on a color in this Panel of color instead, it sets the color of outline of each element. He has not always done that, there were times when it would have set the fill color for all elements. But there is no switch to tell him exactly what to put. I should way until an even or odd day so that he would fix the color fill again? Or is there a more professional method to achieve this?

    Illustrator CS6 on Windows.

It's in Edition > change the colors

You can also create a color group, shades of gray and then use edit > edit colors > Recolor art.

If right mac or control click on any .ai file icon and go to info and go to SDO with section and replace it with Adobe Illustrator instead of Acrbat, then click on modify.

On the PC, I think that you do this in the properties panel.

  • Can someone help me understand why my Illustrator CS6 and 2014 CC, CC are slow to save even a simple vector object?

I tried my CS6, CC and CC 2014 Illustrator versions, I uninstalled my wacom driver, antivirus, tried to save objects different vector elements as simple containly.

I restarted my computer several times, I have more than 25% of free space in my SSD and HDD.

My laptop is Alienware m17x and I use Windows 8.1

I didn't have this problem last week and there has been little change in my laptop, I removed a few things that I installed just in case they were originally the slow economy. I run a limited number of programs at the same time.

It's funny how Illustrator uses very little processor power when its economy, he said 0.2 percent while displaying "does not.

    Here is the solution.
I put my laptop to print via another computer that is physically connected to a printer, so I was able to print from anywhere in the House.

When the computer was turned off, Illustrator for some reason any did not like to exploit.

I changed the default to Adobe PDF printer, I have not had any more problems.

  • HAVE to be converted to AE vector object error & timeline extend

    Hi all

Get a little lost on this new version of AE 20141 and the project that I am currently working on is very weird...

First question, I tried to convert the layers that I imported file to vector layers, but this message continue jumping & won't let me convert any layer:

    Screen Shot 2014-10-20 at 8.40.02 AM.png

HAVE all of the layers in the file has no effect and any object and the text are described.

    --------------------------------

Second question, on the same project, the calendar only join 01f:

    Screen Shot 2014-10-20 at 8.43.31 AM.png

Any number, I put in the parameter in the composition of adjustment, with a selected clip, nothing has changed on the Panel of the time period.

    Screen Shot 2014-10-20 at 8.44.59 AM.png

    Thank you

The two problems are because you imported your Illustrator files as a sequence of still images. You must re-import the. Files HAVE.

In the import dialog box, make sure that the option for PDF/Illustrator/EPS sequence is disabled.

  • Check-in: launch original raw, keep it as a smart object in PSD ok?

For archiving purposes, once a. NAVE is embedded in a .psd as a dynamic object file,

I can run the original. NAVE, right?  Because the full reference is contained in

the smart object as long as I keep the .psd, right?

    Thank you

Steve, if your question is about whether the smart object and the original raw file are linked, the answer is that they are NOT related.  If the removal of the original raw file will not affect the Smart object in the slightest.

The opportunity to keep the file raw for other purposes is an entirely different and subjective issue.  It depends on factors like what the future may hold, if you plan to install Adobe abandons as many of us are, etc..

Storage space is very cheap these days.

  • Cannot recolor work for all vector objects?

    Hi all

I used the trace function to create a vector. I can recolor work on some objects in Vector, but others, he has no option to recolor. Did someone knows why and it is possible to see Recolor options for all items?

Work to redefine colors is a great tool for the Recolor of specific colors in the work without having to select specific objects and and change the shade used for this object. If you select all and access the Recolor feature, you should see all the color charts for all of the selected art and modify a shade of color throughout the work. There is a lot more to this function, but for what you do, it's a quick and easy way to make color changes to all items colored with a specific shade. See the online help, help > using Illustrator to recolor the most.

Here is a tutorial if you are also interested.
