Interfacing sbRIO to Xbee

Currently, I am doing a project which invovles sbRIO-9642. Is it possible to connect a sbRIO 9642 to an arduino xbee attached with xbee antenna.

Later data will be transmitted to other xbee antenna connected to a servo controller. This servo controller command several servos based on the contribution of the sbRIO through Labview.

Possible?

Hi MathDumlao,

Either is an acceptable method, and there may be some pre-existing FPGA code can implement a simple serial port.

In general, using the serial port to the processor in real-time of the sbRIO will involve less low-level bit handling, so should be the simplest method.

Of course, in regard to communication on the FPGA, the processor is free-ed room for other tasks.

Kind regards

  • usb cameras to sbRIO interface

    Hello

We have a humanoid robot which has engines Dynamixel actuators for the movement of the hand and the usb camera high definition to the eyes. I want to build a control in real time of the robot to mimic the movements of the hand of a human being. For this I use sbRIO 9633 which has a processor FPGA and real-time. My first task is to get the images of the eyes in the sbRIO usb cameras do image processing and extract the skeletal details. My questions are the following

b are there already existing drivers for usb cameras that can be installed in sbRIO to get images or streaming video?

    (b) someone wrote drivers for depth as XBOX Kinect for any target integrated measuring devices (I've found for Windows)?

    (b) if the usb port can be controlled through FPGA or is the USB interfaced directly with processor in real-time?

    (c) any acquisition images using sbRIO help to control in real time is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi, Ahmed.

The two cameras that work with the sbRIO are Basler and Axis Network cameras. The following knowledge base contains more details. This help answer your question?

  • How to CAN with Sbrio 9636 interface

    Hello

I use Labview 2011 and SBRio 9636 to communicate with controllers EPOS2 Maxon, who uses the CANOpen protocol for communication. Since then, SBRio has only library CAN shipped with it I just use it to monitor a network of communication already setup. What communication happens even within the network that sbRIO fails to receive any image. I run the example of unique input output for this purpose. The connections are checked and the resistance of connection on the bus is 120 ohm. SBRio penetrates "Error Active" mode and starts running. We also find that the Commission also triggers an error in one of the EPOS2 that is connected directly to the card. Can someone tell me why this happens? Y at - it that anything left to do? I find it difficult to download images and help send the front and block attachments Panel. P. S.

    Hello Surajp,

I also have the problem with the sbRIO CAN communication, but at least I could receive frames just some time lost some.

I found in your window block, you set listening only? TRUE, this is not correct, this must be set to FALSE, otherwise can not read any CAN CAN - bus framework.

Here is the description of the help file.

Listening only? property configures if the interface CAN transmit all information CAN bus.

When this property is set to False, the interface can transmit frames CAN and acknowledge the received frame.

When this property is set to True, the interface can transmit frames CAN neither acknowledge receipt CAN fit. Set to True allows a passive monitoring of network traffic, which can be useful for debugging scenarios when you do not want to interfere with a communications network.

    Hope this will help you.

  • Interfacing engine Lego NXT sbRIO-9636 Eval Board

    Hello

As a newbie to sbRIO, I would build a simple Quadrature counter.

Recently, I attended the great build your own Embedded system workshop and have a sbRIO-9636 running a updated the Quadrature counter sample project AND originally designed for the sbRIO-9631.  He works a lot using the digital encoder built into the daughter card.

Then, I want to use a Lego Mindstorms NXT motor (PN 9842) encoder.  I will feed the outboard motor so for now I just up/down count the encoder.  Here is the wiring that I intend to use on the map of my daughter:

Channel that has the encoder (yellow wire) will go to DI2
Channel B (blue wire) of the encoder will go to the DI3
Common 0V (red wire) goes to DGND
+ 5V (green wire) will go?

So my question: is there a point on the map the sbRIO-9636 girl, I can securely connect to for + 5V power of encoder?  Moreover, these colors of son are Lego Mindstorms extension cables when they are cut and stripped.

    Any help would be appreciated!

According to the quick reference for the sbRIO 9636: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375933a.pdf

There seems to be + 5V on 49 and 50 of the J502 connector pins. This connector is available, or you use a daughter card?

Other options would be more hackers IMO, such as the drawing of the USB connector 5V.

  • Use the same node of IO in sbRIO (VxWorks) 9606 and 9607 (Linux)

    Hello!

I have one tries to use the same FPGA VI on both a sbRIO 9612, 9605, 9606 and 9607. For the three first it is perfectly feasible as soon as I call the IOs even name to different boards. For the 9607 I can't make it work.

A knot of IO on 9607 looks like:

    And I can't the closest to a 9606 is:

Because I'm not allowed to name it with backslash.

And it does not work on both targets.

Is there any other way to the insertion of a structure conditional disable for each node of e/s I use?

    Thank you

    Anders

    Hi Anders,

I noticed in your example, you created a CLIP in the interface with your e/s under the 9607. Did you plan using VIDEO-specific features? If not, you can simply add an EGGA as in the 9606 (target FPGA 9607 right-click > New > RIO Mezzanine Card) and the e/s should look like. This can give you more parity between the targets. Otherwise, I think that the two interfaces will have different properties. I modified your sample project and attached. Take a look at "IO2.vi" and let us know if that's what you're looking for.

  • sbRIO-9651 IO corresponding length

We plan to interface high speed ADC (1gech/s x8bit) that uses a wide interface LVDS (two samples) from 16-bit to a sbRIO-9651.  Is there a resource that provides information about the sbRIO-9651 module layout details as worst case length offset series in differential pairs and between differential pairs that exist on the module (independent of our own layout of the Board of Directors)?

Since the interface use a common differential clock and wide 16-bit interface, I'm trying to get a sense tilt the worst case there might be between pairs differential seperatate.

I can they use sheet date architecting to get an idea of the maximum transfer rate, but are there restrictions on the module itself that will limit rates date?

    Hi abadobid,

The SbRIO-9651 manual specifications (table 8) should have the details of length sur-module trace info you are looking for.

In addition, I recommend reading the Design Guide for the SOM carrier for detailed techniques, guidelines and requirements for the design of carrier card.

Finally, for future issues are the design of specific equipment for the SOM, we have implemented a dedicated community/forum that will probably be the best place to get help.

  • store data in external storage with sbRIO 9602

    Hi all

Does anyone have experience of sbRIO data storage in an external USB or any other type of storage?

Since there is no USB port on 9602, I am planing to use for serial ports do.

    But how?

    Thank you.

    Zhuoyuan

    Hi Zhouyuan,

This wikipedia article on the technical details of SD card is where I got the idea of using the FPGA to speak directly to an SD via SPI.

    http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#Technical_details

Unfortunately, I don't know all the technical details that would be involved to make this work, but it seems possible.

As I said, the SPI interface for SD cards is very low, and develop a functional driver can be difficult.

In the spirit of brainstorming of ideas... You could create a small logging system compatible ethernet on Arduino.  I searched a bit on Google and found the shield which includes the Ethernet and SD card.  Coupled with the Arduino microcontroller, the device could receive the news of the IMU of sbRIO via ethernet on the robot and save the data on the SD card.

Both the aforementioned efforts would work, but are less expensive than adding a dedicated SD card module that includes the necessary firmware in its design.

    See you soon,.

  • Modulation Toolkit screws sbRIO-9651

    Hi all
I try to help solve some difficulties with my current developments of the LV.
Currently, I am working on implementing some transmission of packets using sbRIO-9651 interfaced with a programmable TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER. Unfortunately, a few screws (Resample(complex_cluster).vi MT and MT demodulate PSK.vi) run on the sbRIO. These screws are part of the LV modulation toolkit and some dll which fail to load into the sbRIO due to their incompatibility with the platform OR Linux RT-dependent.
Anyone know of workarounds. Any help or suggestion would be welcome.

    Thank you very much.

    Bachir

    Bachir,

Is it possible for you to open a DMA FIFO or some other form of data flow of the sbRIO to the host?

A suggestion I have for her resample VI is to use the button Reechantillonner VI, who hails from LabVIEW.  I can't confirm that this will work on the sbRIO, but you can try.

The nice thing about the modulation toolkit is that most are open to be viewed by the user.  In addition, most of the code is written in LabVIEW.  (Not very easily), you could look at the code and try to reproduce them in a fashion that will focus on the sbRIO.  You may even be able to find the place where there is no call to a DLL and try to eliminate these dependencies.

Is there a specific reason to use the sbRIO rather than a RIO USRP?

  • Someone has a vi for LCD with port COM for SBRIO

    Hi people,

I have a SBRio-Board and you want to drive a LCD on the COM-port.

    Is this possible?

Someone has a vi to do this.

I know, it's possible with FPGA lines, but is not the normal/best way COM port?

    Greetings, Ruedi

If you look on the LabVIEW tools network and search for LCD a few possibilities appear.  http://www.ni.com/np/app/main/p/bot/no/ap/lvtn/lang/en/pg/1/sn/n25:software, n21:28/sb/default /? q = LCD

It is said expressly in the box to Reach tools that it is via RS - 232 interface.  Although not your specific device would it be worth the trip.

Its interesting that I would have liked to have a few years on a project using a touch screen of Reach.

There is also an example here http://www.ni.com/example/31079/en/.

I hope that this will help.

  • SBRIO DIO still available with 9693 mezzanine card?

    Hello!

I intend to use a SBRIO (9626) and a map of mezzanine 9693 for plugging a 9853E module CAN.

However, I would also need interfacing #20 DIO, 4AI and 4AO. The signals will be be wired on J502 and J503 connectors.

Using 9693 mezzanine card, always will I be able to get/check status of DIOs/AIOs using the FPGA?

    Hi zyl7,

The NOR sbRIO-9626 has only 4 asymmetrical on the J503 connector DIO lines as the sbRIO-9626 isn't a J502 connector. Using the 9693 OR prevents access to the CMR for anything other than the two C series connectors.

The J503 connector has 16 HAVE and AO 4 so that will work best for your needs that you can access IDC connectors and RMC connector at the same time in LabVIEW.

The isue with the sbRIO-9626 and the 9693 OR in your application, is that you will only access the DIO 4. If you need 20 DIO, you probably a DIO module in the second location of the 9693 OR add at least 16 DIO for your application. You can then use the 4 DIO embarked on the connector J503 IDC and the DIO on the C Series module to meet the needs of your application.

You could also add support on your daughter card circuits to multiplex your DIO 20 up to 4 lines DIO the sbRIO-9626 puts at your disposal. That depends entirely on the requirements of DIO, however.

  • list of sbRIO Eval Board of e/s

I work with the sbRIO eval kit (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/211116) and I can't seem to find details on the output pin. The eval Board comes with a daughter card to interface the easy I/O, but I can't find any details on what DIO are connected to what buttons push-button and LED and what DIO control the LCD etc... Basically to research to find a spindle of the sbRIO mapping to the daughter card.

  • sbRIO-9642 digital input maximum input frequency

    Hello

I would like to know what is the maximum frequency of entry for the 24V sbrio 9642 DI.

    Thanks for your help

    Gil Maor

If you use the NI CompactRIO (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7338) scan Mode, then your maximum update frequency is 1 kHz. Scan mode still uses the FPGA, but it does not need to write the FPGA code. To learn more about scanning interface, read the link above as well as this one:

    http://zone.NI.com/DevZone/CDA/tut/p/ID/7693#toc1

Now, if you use a meter with scan mode, he can read entries counter at a high rate - it will just update the code in real time at a slower rate (up to 1 kHz).

  • Question of sbRIO-9636

    Guys,

I have a 1 sbRIO-9636, which was part of the assessment package. I took the part of high level (circuit that allows you to interface with a few DIO AIO) and have only the Board of Directors. then I advanced and bought some fo the Accessories:

    Part number 154041-12

    Part number 153158-10

Now Iam stuck trying to find a block of endings (look like the cb-50 i/o (p/n 776164-90), but for this Council so that I can interface with the DIOs and AIOs.

I learned by a seller of NOR does not make this Terminal or knows what third-party company makes. (this time I bought these pieces through OR which has baffled me)

If anyone knows how can I get a connection block that uses the robon 50 cable I bought I'll greatly appreaciate it.

Just remembered... NEITHER Alliance Partner Cyth Systems built a block of board-to-board endings for headings 2 x 50 pins. The product is not on their Web site the last time I checked, but the model number is CFX-076. Their roommates until the Single-Board RIO Summit.  If you need a version that uses the 50 pin cable to place the block of remote connection, they may be able to work with you on a version without the connectors the connectors on the card-board replaced with cable connectors.
