Intermittent wireless on T42

I've been running my wireless for several years now on my Type T42 2378 RGU, when a few weeks ago I got the message of type 'no wireless networks detected. By the process of elimination, I have determined that the likely culprit was my wireless card, an Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG network adapter. I got the FRU number (FRU 27K 9936) and ordered a replacement, which I installed 2 days ago. Started back to the top and still "found a wireless network. I turned off the computer and came back the next day. He works from a cold start, and worked the wireless! Hooray! But spoke to soon. Later in the afternoon, I went, and it was back to "no wireless found" while at the same time my T61 just sitting beside her worked very well on the wireless. the only thing I can guess is that there is a loose somewhere, fitting that I had turned my laptop upside down yesterday to replace the screw on the side of the touchpad of the computer. It was shortly after this time that the wireless doesn't work anymore. I left the laptop on it overnight, and today when I logged in, the wireless was working again!

So I think I need to find the most likely for an intermittent connection. Any ideas? Where is the antenna located on the T42? Or anything else that could be causing this? I am running Windows XP Pro sp3.

Thank you!

A way of to detrmine for sure if it's a hardware or a software problem would be to boot from a Linux CD "live."

If your wireless network is running Linux, there is a driver/software XP problem.

If it isn't, we start to look at the hardware...

My suggestion - because I know that it works out of the box on T4x machines:

Good luck.

    Does that mean exactly?
I mean that if the wireless network adapter is enabled correctly your laptop should detect your WLAN network. Is your WIFI detected and listed as available WLAN network?

  • Intermittent wireless

I just installed the E2500 think my old router was the problem and still have intermittent problems with wireless connectivity.  I always excellent (all bars) of the signal, but internet access come and go, even though my wired connection to the same router is good.   I have check the connectivity with the network and sharing Center in the tool bar.  I have the same problem with my Dell laptop, my Cisco bridge used with my BluRay and my wife IPhone and IpPad.  Comcast said that their monitor shows no loss of service in the last days, when I had connectivity problems.   Any ideas?

    Update:

I gave up and paid $40 + $6 / mo for Comcast wireless phone support.  Very useful, but they could not also support the bridge wireless for my BluRay.  And they had my printer on the network to start.  He took my screen and made the appropriate changes in the settings through Cisco Connect.  The problem comes from my MS Vista operating system.  He plays well with the system of encryption used for the wireless.  XP and Win 7 is ok.  They have intensified the wepa to WEP that intends to change the security system.  Seems to work now.  Hooray.  With less encryption setting is slower, 54 Mbps, rather the 144 I see me before then it worked.  Much better than zero.

  • Vista's intermittent wireless connectivity

I recently bought a laptop Sony Vaio with Vista. I have Norton 360 installed. My modem is Netgear PK5000. The connectivity of the laptop to wireless technology is intermittent. Hello

Check with the Sony Support, their drivers and documentation online and ask questions in the Sony Forums on well-known
questions. Check also with NetGear support (are you sure it's a Netgear modem? PK5000 sounds like a
Actiontec?). Also check with the help of the internet service provider.

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Drops intermittent wireless

    Hello

    I recently bought a HP pavilion 15-b102sp provided with 64-bit Windows 8.

Since then, I had a constant problem with the internet. It keeps disconnecting after a while and reconnect right after. When I got him to the top, the results I get from speedtest.net are always lower than other computers that are older than mine. I tried to turn off disconnect it to save energy and wireless adapter to be always the maximum performance of the value. Yet nothing seems to work. The problem is not the router, as it already happened to me in a lot of places and I tested the connection with several other computers, and none of those who had a problem. I don't know what else to do, and I don't want to return the computer to the store because all they do is format and send it back with the same questions...

  • Photosmart Plus b210 - intermittent wireless printing problem

    Hello world

I'm new to this forum so I appologise if I'm a little ditsy...

I just bought a Photosmart Plus b210 and have successfully connect it wirelessly to my iMac. However, since I got it, I had a problem when trying to print wireless from it.

When I try to print from my iMac, it will open the print job request and it will say 'sign in' at the start, but then she stays like that for about a minute or two before, it says that there is an error. At this point, I have to cancel the work because he'll just try again and give me the same result.

I found the only time wherever it prints is when he says "connecting" then after a few seconds it will say 'inactive' and only then it will actually print. So what I'm basically doing print, wait a few seconds, if there is no 'inactive' message I'll cancel the job and reprint the document, and follow this process until I see a notification "inactive." Once I am successfully able to print a job, it will allow me to print documents more first time but it is frustrating that I have to go through this lengthy process everytime I turn on my printer.

Someone at - it from similar solutions/experiences?

    Thank you

We will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). Apple is 10.0.1.2 a.200 use 10.0.1.220 for your printer.
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the bridge and the first DNS. Let the second white.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • Quality/speed intermittent wireless

My HP DV7 laptop 6101sa has recently undergone some hardware issues. Wireless - Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n adapter all the minutes, or even seconds, my internet connection slows to a crawl and stops for 10 seconds. I can't browse the internet pages and playing video games online leads me to have a very high ping. I have 3 partitions of Windows 7, all on separate partitions, and they all suffer from this problem, this problem must therefore be a hardware failure. I took action: reboot several times turn wireless adapter Reinstall driver my laptop overheat recently (an error on my part), I was wondering if this could be any cause, but I can't say exactly when this problem occurred. I have some ideas on what to do now. Help, please!

Hi Paul, I failed to mention that this problem occurs only on my laptop, my phone and Tablet perfectly connecting to the router. However a few moments ago, I did the simple thing that I never thought, I pulled the Wifi adapter inside and the laptop and put it again. Presto! It works perfectly again. Steps in trying to solve this problem:

    1. The option "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is also disabled.
    2. I have the power options set to High Performance.
    3. I installed inSSIDer and I'm the only broadcast network on the 5 GHz bandwitdth (so there is absolutely no interference whatsoever)
    4. I spent between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and the same thing happens. See below

    Question:

    What could be the problem?

If anyone else knows this problem, are the only two (solutions)

suggest that you CALL the HP TECHNICAL support and start a business.

    Hi there @Jeremy169,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is an excellent site to find answers and ask questions. I saw your post on the Forums of HP Support. If I understand your message that you have a problem with the wireless Internet is intermittent.

Do you by chance have Bluetooth? Is it on?

I found some material that you can use to troubleshoot wireless problems you encounter.

The first document that I found for you is called using Automated Troubleshooting (Windows 10: 8). This document describes how to use the troubleshooting tools automated in Windows. These tools use a combination of installed applications and online detect and resolve many computer problems, such as problems with networking, system performance and hardware devices. Although automated troubleshooting cannot find and fix all the problems, it is a useful tool which can often save you time and effort.

The second document, I found for you is called troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8). The steps described in this document provide the tools that were found to be useful in solving many problems that can occur with wireless network connections and the Internet.

The reason why I asked you about Bluetooth technology is because I found a document called intermittent Wireless connection with Intel Centrino Wireless - N 2230 and Advanced - N 6235 Bluetooth Combo Wireless Modules (Microsoft Windows 8).

Please follow these troubleshooting steps, re-post and let me know how everything went.

    Thank you!

    Have a great day!
