Inventory of the Dell R610 collection system

I have 2 servers Dell R610 x. ' ' We're heading quickly through POST while the other drops in "inventory of the collection system" for about 10 minutes before you start.

Is there a way to disable the 'inventory of the collection system' on each startup?

USAO,

Yes, there is a way to disable the system inventory collection on restart (CSIOR).

  1. Access the iDRAC6 Configuration utility by clicking on during the POST.
  2. Select System Services in the main menu.
  3. Change the inventory of the system collect on the configuration of restart for disabled.

  • What cables to use in the Dell r610 with the perc 6 / i

So I bought my r610 as a system of bairbones so it is come with a controller raid or processors/readers. I got everything I need, except for substantive cable basket. Some came with my perc 6 / i, but the cables are for another similar server (they aren't the right length). Only cables that I found are $ 100 that I find shocking. Is there somewhere else I should look at / is there a certain type of cable for this server and to a certain length? Thank you!

    Cloveh,

The cable that you would need for the Perc 6 / I'd be part # RF5PF for SAS 0 and room FTTNX for SAS 1 side. Let me know if it helps.

The network port is the port on the laptop (it is not that large - look around) that looks like a large phone connection.

You have a router/network to connect to and a cable network to connect with?

  • Latitude E6510 - how I manually access the Dell system recovery partition?

Latitude E6510 - how I manually access the Dell system recovery partition?

    Hi all

My Dell Latitude E6510 came with OEM Win 7 Pro x 64 installed. I am trying to perform a restore of the system to the factory setting.

I tried to access advanced without result Boot Options and pressing F12 during the boot process does not provide me with the option to repair and select the recovery partition, as if it is invisible. If I use the computer management > storage I do not see the hidden partition or if I do Diskpart it is listed.

How the BIOS or the system recognize it to boot from the recovery partition? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply but it appears not the solution you provided helped and I think you are incorrect since my original screenshot has allowed me to see the hidden partition, but I didn't know how to access it.

I got access once I used the app "diskpart" with commands like 'list readers', 'list volume' and 'assign volumes"to access the partition of the content.

Nevertheless, I have found that my recovery media is missing or damaged.

  • A system totally crashed after downloading the update of windows 7 (from VHP) reloaded vista starting the Dell restore partition and reattach the requirements. Now, how can I restart upgrade

OK, here's the deal... the Dell laptop had a recurring software validation fixed an error that I couldn't keep. I would fix it, Vista should go out and update itself and then I would reboot and bang, back right to the error again, I decided to scrap Vista and install W7. I corrected the error again once restarted in a stable Outlook, downloaded files of Windows 7 upgrade and then discovered that the netframework wasn't right, so I downloaded this solution, am to halfway through it and got a system error. HA! I'll just copy this download upgrade of the window on a USB key, hover over all my personal files on the usb drive, and reinstall Vista from the Dell partition, which I did. Then, I updated all the stuff with the Advisor to upgrade of windows, is gone in Windows 7 upgrade file I moved it to the USB and realized that this point in time, I was an asshole. What a breakthrough!  OK, now how to restart the upgrade process. I paid the money, done the downloads, message, so my hands, discussed and done all the other stuff I've done since the upgrade of Windows 3.1 (each time). Now what...

First I would contact the people who sold you download and see if they will send again free of charge - explain the problem.  I guess you still have the product key, they have sent you that shouldn't be a problem (it will work with any download the same version of Windows7).

Then run Windows7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your system can handle Windows7 or if she need for software or material removed or updgraded: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx.  Follow the instructions he gives as a result of the program (in fact, you should do this first - then you can deal with the download).

After that, you need to further questions in the Windows7 Forums: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads where people who specialize in the installation and upgrade to Windows7 will be more than happy to help you in the process.  This is a forum for Vista, and you need to talk to experts in Windows7.

    I hope this helps.

  • I bought a dell inspiron 1440 without any operating system. What should I install first, the dell drivers or windows vista?

I use the windows vista installation disc supplied with my previous pc. I tried to do a clean install, inserted the disc into the cd/dvd drive. No installation window. The screen says "windows loading files..." After a few hours, the display shows something like

"" windows has not... error: file boot32.exe is corrupt or not found. "."

Then the Dell XP disc is great to use. However, do not install an operating system is usually caused by (in order of probability):

    1. you are trying to install with other devices connected to the computer. Unplug them before trying to make an installation.

    2. "" "" defective installation media. "" Check the CD/DVD installation for scratches, tasks. Try another machine.

    3. bad optical drive. Test with another CD/DVD bootable or Exchange for a well-known work.

    4. faulty RAM. Test with Memtest86 + www.memtest.org . You will download the .iso image file to create a bootable cd. Burn the file with the third party burning software *-as an image, not in the form of data. Then start with the media that you did (you may need to change the boot priority in your BIOS so that the optical drive is the first boot device). The test runs immediately. The test run for an hour or two--at least that errors are seen immediately. If you get any errors, replace the RAM.

    * It is not necessary to have a third party burning software in Windows 7 since Win7 natively allows to burn an .iso. Other operating systems require it. A good free choice ImgBurn comes from www.imgburn.com .

    5. bad hard drive. Test with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr... You create a bootable CD with the files you download. Burn the file with a third-party burning software (unless you have Windows 7, that allows to record the .isos natively) - as an image, not in the form of data. Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

    6. other hardware components are faulty.

Then you unfortunately discovered why the phone was for sale.

  • Installation of the H700 controller in dell R610

I asked this question on serverfault.com but so far do not have a definitive answer.

    We just put a refurbished dell R610 2 X 6 Core X 5650, 96 G Ram, Raid SAS 6ir controller, 2 X Fujitsu MBC2073RC 2.5 15 K 73 GB SAS Hard Drive. We will also install additional disks:

    • 2 x Intel 730 480 GB 2.5-inch SSD SSDSC2BP480G4R5
    • 2 x Samsung SpinPoint ST2000LM003 2 TB 2.5 Momentus "

I also separately brought a controller Raid H700 renovated to use rather than the SAS 6ir map. This is the integrated H700 and looks like this:

How to install this? I have read several books looking for instructions explicit (Page 111 of the operating instructions R610 is not quite clear to me...) For example should I unscrew the cache-pci slot metal on the left side of this map and then directly replace the Board SAS6ir "integrated"? Or go to this card in a separate pcie slot? (I don't know the cables will reach and I'm not sure the cable management) Does anyone have pictures of an installed H700 and PERC, installed in a R610 battery?

    Thank you!

    Jason

    sysjas
is the only difference between the version of the built-in adapter and the internal version of the pcie metal plate?

No, the main difference between the two integrated and adapter's firmware. They are designed to work in the type of the specified location. The integrated storage location is a PCIe location, but it works the same as a normal PCIe location.

  • "The operating system not found" message after the display of the Dell Logo

My HDU failed (Inspiron 5100 using XP Home).  I installed a new HDU, you use Win XP Home oem disk (object of Dell original lost).  Use the drive as a partition.

Now to start a 'Operating System Not Found' message appears after the Dell Logo is displayed.

Pressing on Ctrl/alt/del removes the message, and the Dell Logo displays of new laptop starts perfectly in XP Home...

I guess that's because I couldn't set up the small partition normally present (assume it has diagnostic data, etc.).

No way to delete the message?  (?? The BIOS setting?)

  • Hardware inventory to the iDRAC 6

    Hi all

I use dell servers m610 (iDRAC6). We have built a tool to get hardware information of dell m610 using wsman via iDRAC 6. But when I got some information about hardware (Ram, CPU, HARD disk) using wsman, I had old infofmation. When I installed more RAM or connected several hard drives. I always have information on old hardware.

    + Example command. wsman list http://schemas.dmtf.org/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/root/dcim/DCIM_MemoryView h $IPADDRESS v - v - c dummy.cert 443 u $USERNAME $PASSWORD-j utf-8 Pei Pei - y basic.

    + management list http://schemas.dmtf.org/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/root/dcim/DCIM_SystemView h $IPADDRESS v - v - c dummy.cert 443 u $USERNAME $PASSWORD-j utf-8 Pei Pei - y basic

I know an option of life cycle for the latest information on the hardware, is to allow to "collect system inventory on restart (CSIOR). But I have to restart the server for.

Is there a way to get the latest information of hardware without restarting the server?

    Thank you very much

    nampnx

    Hi nampnx,

You must enable CSIOR. This is a configuration of time. After that, whenever you add new hardware when the system boots, CSIOR will run for the POST. This will give you some info on iDRAC that new hardware has been added. Else iDRAC will not get to know the additional hardware.

    Kind regards

  • iDRAC on Dell R610 problem

    Hello

I just got a new Dell R610 and I tried to configure the iDRAC on her card. I have it configured on interfaces of multiple T300 Dell and the ILO on the different models of HP servers successfully. But for some reason, I'm going to have serious problems with it.

I think he got an iDRAC Express card as there is no extra ethernet port on the server, just the standard 4 integrated NETWORK interface the iDRAC BIOS are version 1.70 I understand is the last.

In the screen configuration (Ctrl + E) iDRAC, iDRAC and IPMI over LAN are enabled. Selection of NIC is set to shared so for active LOM, it reports 'No. Active LOM'. VLANs are disabled, iDRAC Express stand them? -Once it works I would like to enable it if possible.

Only NIC1 (eth0) is connected to the switch. I tried configuring it with DHCP, but he never does an address even if the operating system gets a.

To remove the switch / VLAN even tried to connect NIC1 directly on an other server tcpdump and running with iDRAC configured with a static IP (the default value of 192.168.0.120). Did not get a thing of it. I could see the arp requests going out but not responses to iDRAC.

So, how do you get the iDRAC to work?

    Thank you.

Today technician Dell replaced our motherboard and this fixed a problem with the DRAC.

New motherboard uses older versions of BIOS and DRAC BIOS main:

principal: was 3.0.0, now for 2.0.11
    DRAC: was 1.70.21, now 1.41.13

DRAC works now, and, Yes, she has the web interface.

PS unfortunately, but this will not be fixed another issue we have with H200 controller or it's linux driver mpt2sas: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/777441 (ClxAdmin, if you use Linux on that server, what distribution of linux/version you are using?)

  • OME does not receive details of the inventory and the State for some devices

OME does not receive the details of the inventory and the State for some servers.

For example when looking at one of our PowerEdge R620s is all that presents itself:

iDRAC firmware and LCC is updated (version 2.21.21.21 is installed.)

I reset the iDRAC, and that did not help.  I have no problem with most of the other R620s in the same range of discovery.

I deleted the object to OME and re-discovered twice over the past week it but did not help.

Things seem ok when I use the troubleshooting tool:

Anyone has any info on what may be going on here or how to fix this?

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for the details in the post.

Wanted to check what version of OME use you - OME 2.1?

If so, this behavior with ws - man discovery could potentially due to expiry of certificate on this device. You can launch the iDRAC user interface and confirm the certificate information.

2.1 the OME, the WS - Man communication component is updated. The most recent component does not communicate with the device if that device has been exceeded in the certificate.

Sslresetcfg running via racadm will reset the certificate. For details and solution, see same threadhttp://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/f/4494/t/19653767 .

Let us know if that helps.

  • Failed to create the Dell photostage as screensaver.

I had a few selected photos selected to run on Dell Photostage as screensaver.  Unfortunately, I installed an update that has ALL my photos in sight.  I created a new collection, but cannot make only a single pass instead of with all the photos that appear by default.  How I can or I can simply select pictures to display in the form of a screen saver?

    Please contact the Microsoft Community.

What is the number of the KB article for the update that has caused this problem?

I'd like you try to uninstall the update and check.

  • Update the BIOS R610 of linux

    Hi again fellows!

After Googling a lot, and now me again. I need to update my BIOS and linux debian Server R610, of course, without having to restart the systems.

All the information I found on linux is confuse, some guys use lmbios to run the images, others use the iDRAC7 Interface but I hafe iDRAC6 and I can't access the web interface, I can only access OMSA 7 Web GUI.

How you guys update the BIOS from linux? I already downloaded the image.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello xgonzalo

You can update the BIOS to OpenManage Essentials: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/1989.openmanage-essentials.aspx

The easiest day is simply to use a DUP and updated through the iDRAC. Why you can't access the web interface of the iDRAC?

The BIOS will not update until the system restarts, then why is it so important that you perform the update without reboot? If you can not web server iDRAC function then it would probably best to boot from a Linux live CD that you run the RHEL or CentOS sync .bin file. Other methods to perform updates will be community supported on Debian.
