Invoking other applications of a native application

Hello

Is it possible to invoke an application _other than_ integrated applications? For example, I have an epub on your computer drive. That I can call him my own application? Is it possible to get a list of installed applications?

I'm porting a desktop-style file manager application, and the inability to get any control on which the application is launched in response to a specific file type is somewhat a barrier.

Best wishes

Kevin

You will need to review the framework of the call to see applications of your file types supported and open these apps to your application.

  • Invoking the application when you click on a link in the browser field

    Hi all

Is it possible to invoke the application by clicking on a link/button to the browser field?

The link/button would be a part of the web page displayed in a browser field. If the user clicks on it, it should be taken to the corresponding screen in the native application.

Can someone let me know how this can be done in BlackBerry?

    Thank you much in advance.

I could it implement successfully with the help of HTTPFilterRegistry (net.rim.device.api.io.http.HttpFilterRegistry).

An example of the same project is available in the samples of BlackBerry in the Eclipse IDE (HttpFilterDemo).

Use OS X El Capitan on a Mac Book Pro, the function in the Finder (or other applications) has stopped working "share."  From the Finder, I select a file and to 'Share', select say "Mail", nothing happens. Even when selecting other sharing options such as 'Notes', etc.  He used to work.  Now it is not.  In system preferences > Extensions all the sharing options are regularly controlled.  The same problem occurs in other applications such as Photos.  Selection of a photo and trying to "share."  Nothing happens, the application crashes. Does anyone have a solution?

  • How to stop the pages previously loaded to refresh themselves on return to FF using other applications.

This problem is driving me crazy!
I'll take a few sites in tabs, leave FF to write an email or check my Inbox and when I come back to the FF app than the tabs to refresh automatically.
This is particularly troublesome when I visited a Web site and typed a lengthy paragraph or filled a form composed of my name, address, email, etc. etc... and when I get out of the app to FF for something else for just a second and then back to FF, I JUST want PAT IS GONE OUT with this refresh boring.
It is also a lot of time constantly be waiting for sites that I already loaded to recharge themselves.
I did some reading all this and the term "LMK" appears relevant to this question, now, is there a way to FORCE FF to use more memory or a force FF to "keep open" somehow? Maybe a topic: config setting?

I would appreciate a person 'in the know' to answer with ANY sort of fix or tweak for this.

    Thank you.

I limit the amount of background applications in the developer settings

I'm not aware of all these parameters. What I meant is to uninstall applications, you may not need urgent, or end of applications running in the background, such as Dropbox. I am sure there are others.

Why Mozilla can't program FF to stay active in a substantive condition?

I think it's what he does. Note, there is no button "quit".

A browser should be a resource hog

    Should or shouldn't?
I guess that "eater of resources" is not a correct term. It is always relative to the amount of memory that your device.
How many RAM does your from?
And the sites you open consume memory as well. Just the amount of Javascript to track you may be multiple MBs.
It can help to turn on the monitoring of the protection feature.
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/tracking-protection-Firefox#w_how-to-turn-on-tracking-protection

As said before, memory is managed by the operating system. And when the memory is needed to run other applications, it can be removed Firefoxby the OS while FF is in the background. Firefox has no control over that.

  • After the migration to the new sshd, imovie now crashes whenever I try to open a project. All other applications are very good.

Yesterday I installed a new SSD in my MacBook Pro 13 "unibody mid-2012 laptop computer.

After installation, I formatted the drive, install a new copy, El Capitan, then moved the rest of my Time Machine backup.

The computer works great, much more quickly than before. Everything works perfectly except...

After migration, iMovie now blocks whenever I try to open a project. Every time. All other applications are very good. I even opened the original library from my old drive, opens the library of my Time Machine backup and they all down when I double-click on the icon for ANY project!

The files are not corrupt because they have not changed. It doesn't matter which library I use, it crashes whenever I try to open a project.

So far, everything on the Mac works fine. Other applications of Apple, everything! Please someone help me solve this problem because I use iMovie on a regular basis and have SEVERAL projects open that I can't afford to remove.

    Thank you!

    Hello Jon Tompkins,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your message that iMovie crashes when you try to open a project. I know the importance of your projects are as I like to use iMovie as well. First of all, I would like to check to see that iMovie will appear in your shopping list in the Mac App Store. If so, delete the app and then reinstall it.

If this isn't the case, so do not delete the app. Instead, follow this link:

Who also advises to test the problem in safe mode. This article includes the steps to start your MacBook Pro in safe mode:

After having tested in safe mode, restart your Mac again and allow it to start up as usual. Then test the question again and see if it has not changed.

  • Problems with the photos in El Capitan-cant app drag in other applications and can not find the photos when using Word

I feel very disappointed with the new iMac (27 inch high range) I bought specifically so that I can work quickly with video editing - BUT who currently my old iMac with Snow Leopard on my desk and still use it to create documents in Word, etc, among other things. He really miss the old iPhoto - all about it. Not like the new photos app at all and I was wondering if I can install iPhoto on the new computer? We're stuck with the white background of the screen and do not like the new editing panel either - I had my screen tonic to a shade of gray that is visually not too exhausting to watch as the white. Is there a way to customize the color of the workspace I have forgotten?

I'm not also able to drag and drop photos from the app directly in other applications - this was a great feature that could work very quickly. Can't believe that Apple went backwards with this? Or am I still missed something once?

Also, now, I tried to create a new document in Word and when you open the photo browser to import an image from photos in the document, there is no pictures - all other media is accessible but no pictures, not so to drag picture on the desktop then document - once again, having Apple went backwards , or I'm going crazy?

Hoping that I do not regret this purchase very expensive!

A beautiful (and expensive) iMac. Congratulations.

The latest version of iPhoto still works in (a little hard to get 'quiet' Photos.app) ElCapitan, see a lot of discussions here.

Drag-and - déposer is depending on the applications. There is still work, as usual.

Word is updated to the latest? I heard there were a few problems, but they should be solved now.

  • iPad Mini 4 has no sound in a lot of games and other applications?

I just got an iPad mini 4th generation and I noticed that the sound does not work in a lot of games and maybe other apps. Is there some sort of widespread compatibility issue?  It doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.  For example, Grand Theft Auto III has its on-screen title, but it has no sound after that. Other totally different games from other developers have the same problem, or no sound at all, for example the tiles of the Piano has no sound. Other applications such as YouTube or Vimeo have no trouble with the sound.

It seems unlikely there's anything physically broken but there are a lot of apps with no noise (most of these games). What can I do?

You have checked to see if you've cut notification via the control center sounds: turn on Mute and Orientation lock on iPad Pro, mini iPad or iPad 2 Air 4 - Apple Support ?
