iPhoto 11 migration to PSE11

I want to spend all my photos to PSE11 that I'm shooting in raw, and it's much easier to organize and edit in a software.  What will be the best way to migrate the photos that I have all my pictures organized by a test of iPhoto?  I don't have to keep them in the events in PSE11 if there is an easier way to migrate, thank you!

You can use the iPhoto From command in the Organizer. However, if you plan to do all your images at the same time, be sure to have enough disk space, because you need to copy them (the iPhoto order for this) to get out them of the iphoto library. Did you use Organizer enough to be sure it's what you want to do? If so, you can remove them from iphoto then to free up disk space.

If you have applied and keywords in iphoto, it may be better to export each event, put it where you want to keep your photos and use files and folders to import, because the export dialog box gives you more options for information to keep.

  • iPhoto Photos migration killed my catalog!

    Hi all

There is a very strange error during my iPhoto migration into Photos now my database is pretty unusable. I hope someone here has an idea or a solution to help me... Let me describe what happened.

My iPhoto library is saved on an external hard drive FW and about 15 k big photos. When I open iPhoto he asked me if I would like the new photos and I said yes. I took hours and hours and did nothing except moving constantly. So I stopped the process and I'm back to iphoto. After I opened it, I thought "oh *...» "because all my fotos disappeared. They were in the old iphoto or the new application photos more. When I checked the size of the folder, it was clear to me that they must be in the old file iphotos and then I started to do the restoration of the library options.

Now comes the worst: after the repair of the library, he had also imported all the thumbnails in iphoto and now I have 60 pictures of k. It's really bad...

Anyone AN idea how to rewind that or any ideas in how clean that mess up?

Thanks for your help and happy new year

    love

    Michael

and then I started making the restoration of the library options.

I don't know exactly what it is but he doesn't pitch as, among other things, you imported back to the library, not restored. The solution would be to restore properly. How you do that depends on how the backup was performed.

  • Remove iPhoto file after migration to pictures?

I'm on MacBook Pro retina w / 251 GB SSD memory, bought 2013.  IPhoto library migrated to Photos but takes 62 GB of memory. What I lose if I delete the file Library.migratedphotolibrary of iPhoto?

If you have checked and it thing even migrated to Photos correctly, you can remove the file from IPhoto library.

Be aware, however, that you will find only a small part of this storage space. This is because the way it works is that both libraries are actually pointing the same files on your drive. The image files are not duplicated.

  • iPhoto 8.1.2

I am finally emerging from Snow Leopard - I hung on for as long as I could because of application compatibility issues.  I have moved to the good Lion, but now seeks to El Capitan.  Unfortunately I've never updated since iPhoto 8.1.2 - if I'm going to El Capitan, my old iPhoto will migrate to Photo (iCloud)... If I first need to iPhoto, where can I get an upgrade?

Yes - you should download and run the program upgrade the iPHoto library - using the tool of valorisation of the iPhoto - Apple Support Library

  • Vs iPhoto photos

When Photos for Mac was introduced, it was installed on my Mac, but I still have iPhoto. How can I get rid of iPhoto and its library connected (so-called Photos has all my iPhoto library and more?)?

How can I get rid of iPhoto and its library connected (so-called Photos has all my iPhoto library and more?)?

There is no need to be in a hurry to get rid of iPhoto and the iPhoto library. The image to the iPhoto library files are stored in the same place as image files in your photo library, so both libraries together share storage, see this link: Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries

You can take your time to check, if all the photos in your iPhoto Library migrated well library and if you need to copy captions or titles of your iPhoto Photos on events.

Also your smart albums and books or calendars may not have been migrated completely, see this link: How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

If you have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can always launch and compare libraries.

When you are finished, make a backup of the iPhoto library and the iPhoto application and then simply delete them using the Finder. Then empty the trash.  He will not free storage however.

  • Sync photos and iPhoto

I still stubbornly use iPhoto (I migrated to El Capitan pictures first came out but I hated it) but pictures of the race is always there and almost corresponds to iPhoto. However, I found the pictures almost 1000 pictures less. Is it possible to synchronize them just in case I have to go to Photos a day?

Using OS X 10.11.2 on an iMac 21 inch late 2009

    Thank you

Pictures takes your iPhoto library and it migrates into your photo library. Two of them use the same photos and are pointing to the same files on the disk at that time here.

Now, if you add for example photos in iPhoto, Photos.app will not see, that's why the pictures less. All that done in iPhoto, after the migration will not appear in the Photos. There is no way to keep the two applications and libraries is synchronized.

You can however remove the photo library and use the iPhoto library to migrate again iPhoto to Photos. Then, this includes all the changes caused to the iPhoto library in the meantime and migrates them to Photos. BUT, if you have made changes with Photos (eg. added a few photos to Photos app instead of iPhoto) these things will be lost.

To ensure the safety of your photos, I generally recommend to make a backup before deleting libraries etc.

  • How can I resize multiple images in PSE11?

I used PSE10 to resize multiple images by selecting the option "Process multiple Images" of the undeneath the drop down "File" menu

I just migrated to PSE11 and this option is not available - it is greyed out and cannot be selected.

Anyone got any suggestions? Thank you.

In PES 11, you must be in Expert mode (the equivalent of change complete in previous versions). Click on the word "Expert" at the top of your screen, and it should be available.

  • When I start Photos 1.3 nothing happens.

The Photos 1.3 app opens quickly, and I don't get a menu bar.  But it is not a window of Photos, or do anything else.

Holding Option to try to open a library replacement does not work - and I use this option frequently... it works normally.

Option + command to rebuild a library (which I've never tried it before) to hold anything also.

I tried to restore an older version of pictures of Time Machine, but I get the error "Pictures is required for OS X, so cannot be changed in any way.".

    A scary and unsatisfying error.

I'm sitting here dead end on what to do to get all my photos now.  I have three large comprehensive libraries and apparently no way to move forward.

When pictures is launched, it seeks the old iPhoto Library, then begins the long process of migration the new photo library images. Since you said that you have iPhotos several libraries, I guess that Photos have not moved anything and just create an empty library file.

Please check your users > your name > images folder. If you see a .photoslibrary file, move it to the trash (do not drain immediately). Now the Option Launch Photos and select the library that you want to migrate from iPhoto. Migration is a very slow process - give it time.

Be aware that Photos cannot merge several libraries. Several libraries are problematic if you plan to use iCloud photo library functionality and are therefore referenced libraries.

  • Photos can not find the original files

Since the switch to Photos for Mac, when I double click on a thumbnail to enlarge, a large percentage of my photos have a message that the original file is not found and gives me a chance to find the missing file.

In iPhoto, where migrated most of my photos, I would simply store photos within the program.  As far as I knew, this is where the original file.

    What happened to my photos?

    What happened to my photos?

Check preferences: Photos > Preferences > General:

Is the option "Importing > copy items in the photo library ' enabled?  If this isn't the case, you have imported that cited such photos and they are not stored inside the library. Then you must not move or delete photos you've imported. photos will look these photos in their original location.

Look at the Info Panel for the photo and copy the name of the missing file.

Search now with FindAnyFile this file name.

Download Find Any leader here: the trial is free:

FindAnyFile let's you find the files inside library packages where Spotlight will not look.

You will find the missing files in this way?  Where are they?

  • Impossible to update App Photo on Macbook Air

    Hello

I tried to update the app to the photo on my mb Air.  But the dialog box indicates it cannot update the app because it has been downloaded by another user.

The story on the subject is:

    • I bought the Air MB second hand, and she was wiped out when I bought it. I bought in 2015
    • It was a factory refurbished, model 2013 and has been sold in 2014 for the first owner (of which I am the 2nd after refurbishment)
    • I have updated Photos from iPhoto and migrated all my pictures from picture.
    • I have never been able to update the Photo since the evolution of iPhoto.
    • I'm relatively new to apple products and not counted the post in discussions to fall my way through. So forgive my Nativity if you ask all the complex questions or propose a solution I should know.

Appreciate all the help I want to solve this problem.

I'd be even open to deleting the application and using another if anyone has any suggestions.

    Shane

I tried to update the app to the photo on my mb Air.  But the dialog box indicates it cannot update the app because it has been downloaded by another user.

Photos for doing Mac applications part of Mac OS X and update only when you install an update to the system.

If you install the latest update of Mac OS X Mac OS X 10.11.2, your Photos for Mac will be updated to version 1.3 of Photos.

You see the error message must be trying to update iPhoto and no pictures.  IPhoto will only show on the AppStore update notifications.

Have you tried updated iPhoto to version 9.6.1 iPhoto?  Update will not work, because Apple has stopped selling iPhoto on the AppStore.  You can reinstall, if you have a version of the AppStore in iPhoto, but if you have only a CD of iLife version you'll be out of luck, see Barney user Tip: cannot be updated iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

If you work now with the Photos for Mac News, and all your iPhoto library that libraries were migrated to pictures is not necessary to update to the latest iPhoto, however it would be nice to be able to run iPhoto on El Capitan, so try, if it works as described by Barney. But it is only possible if you have a version of the AppStore.

  • Understand migrations from iPhoto to Photos

After you migrate an iPhoto for photo library, the file extension of the iPhoto Library is changed in .migratedphotolibrary, and my understanding is that the two libraries share the same files through the use of "hard links". I've also read that if one of the libraries is published subsequently, what causes the link between versions of break. Is this true?

    If so, my questions are:

    (1) If hard links break, this means that storage on hard drive required by the two libraries is increased by the size of one of the libraries? If so, who would not take a little time if the booksellers were important, for example 100 GB or more?

    (2) immediately after the migration, what happens if one of the libraries I move to a different folder? Again break hard links? If so, same question as above.

No - change or deletion of a form of photos a library does not break the hard link and has no effect on the other library - they are totally independent

    1 - Yes

    2. Yes, I believe that to break hard links - travel for sure as a library to another volume break

Why move a? Usually simply leave you it where it is for several months until you are sure that you need is no longer and then archive and delete

  • Migrating from iPhoto to Photos

I just upgraded to El Capitan and want to start using the Photos, I have followed the procedures to migrate my old iPhoto library Photos with my library of Photos appointed to reside on another internal hard drive.  I tried several times, but shortly after the migration has started I got the message that there insufficient space disc - 10 GIG necessary.  The drive I'm migration towards had 240 available concerts.  I tried to reformat the drive and emptied of all other files so that its complete 250 concerts are available, but the process still hangs on to 8% with the same message - not enough disk space.  Can someone give me an idea as to what is the problem?

What is the format of the second internal drive where the library s iPhoto stored? How many free space your main internal drive there? What is your iPhoto library

And since there is no single move procedure and what you are doing is not working, it would be useful for you to actually share the procedure that you use

Yes, but the multimedia files are hardlinked and do not take place twice.
