  • myIpAddress() returns IPv6 address in Firefox 4 proxy.pac file

    I have a proxy.pac file that works very well with IE9 and Chrome in Windows 7 that selects a proxy based on myIpAddress(). It did not work in Firefox 4 and it turns out that myIpAddress() amounted to the IPv6 address of the computer, instead of the IPv4 address. Is there another function that is guaranteed to return the IPv4 address, or some other parameter that would guarantee myIpAddress() returns the IPv4 address? I would rather not remove the Protocol IPv6 to the client computer.

    We used the isinnet function (myipaddress ()) to determine if a laptop was in the company network or not, in this way, we could tell the browser to use the proxy or not.
    As an alternative, we went to check if an internal DNS address can be resolved or not.

    function FindProxyForURL (url, host)

    {

           // proxy only needed if in 10.10/16
           //if(!isInNet(myIpAddress(), "10.10.0.0", "255.255.0.0"))
           //        return "DIRECT";

          // This is now used as the above has issues with ipv6
              if(!dnsResolve("name.internal.domain"))
                       return "DIRECT";
           // if resolvable use the proxy
                    return "PROXY proxy.internal.domain:8080";

    }

    Hope it will be useful, because it took a little time to think about it. (with the help of a colleague)

  • What is the link-local IPv6 address?

    It shows that after thte IPv6 address: fe80:f0a2f0c4:6892:bf3 11%

    There are two forms of protocols Internet (IP), (former) IPv4 and IPv6 (the more recent).  IPv6 was created because of the need for an expanded on the Internet addressing scheme.  IPv4 address approaching the limit on no. of the places that could be addressed in a unique way, so IPv6 was created to solve the problem.  It is not something you normally bother you on.

    I hope this helps.  Good luck.

  • OfficeJet 7612: Can I print on OfficeJet 7612 IPV6 address (model number: G1X85A)

    I can use the IPV6 address to access the printer if I enclose the address in square brackets.

    But using the "IP Address update" tool brackets and colons are not allowed, which enters the IPV6 addresses are not allowed?

    Is it possible to print to the IPV6 address?

    This can be done - but not by using the HP software.

    Instead of using the HP applications "" Update IP address"or HP" printer setup and software ', use the control panel and use the "add new printer" there.

    When Windows search for the printer, you can cancel the search and then click on the button for "I don't see my printer listed.  This will take you to the screens that will allow you to manually enter the IP address and that he accepts the IPV6 address.  Once you enter the address, windows find the printer and allow you to use the HP drivers for it and choose a name for it

    So now, I have the printer appears twice.  Once with IPV6 and once with IPv4.  When in the VPN, I can print to the printer "IPV6".  And if not in the VPN, I can use the HP stuff for printing, set the IP address, check fax, scan and ink levels.

  • Purchase of IPv6 addresses

    I know that this is not a specific question of Cisco, but I'm curious to know how I'm going to reserve a block of IPv6 addresses for my business.  I've seen some people suggest on other forums that we are supposed to use the provided ISP address.  However since NAT is not a part of the IPv6 protocol, then we would be at the mercy of our ISPS, and could never change ISP without a painful IP address change internally.

    Thanks in advance.

    Take a look at http://blog.ioshints.info/2011/02/ipv6-provider-independent-addresses.html

    You have a few options.

    -Get the provider independent address space (you need to be multihomed, more a few other requirements)

    -The confidence that it is easier to an IPv6 renumbering network

    -Presentation of solutions such as LISP

    -use NPT66 (1:1 IPv6 NAT)

    I'm trying to use powershell to return the IPv6 address of my host esx 5.5 Update 2.  I used powercli 6.0, but when I try to run either:

    Get-VMHostNetworkAdapter | Select VMhost, Name, IP

    Get-VMhost | Get-View | Select Name, @{N = 'IP address'; E = {($_.Config.Network.Vnic |?)} {$_. Device - eq "vmk0"}). Spec.Ip.IpAddress}}

    they all return two empty fields for the IP address.  PowerShell is not able to return to the IPv6 address?

  • Cannot enter gateway ipv6 address while booting in Vsphere Management Assistant

    Hello

    After you deploy the model to the FVO, I have to configure the network settings for the device of the VMA. When you try to put the default gateway, I have to configure an ipv6 address. As we don't use ipv6, I tried to enter private ipv6 addresses, but I keep getting errors.

    VMware_ipv6.PNG

    The documentation states:

    If you use a static IPv4 network configuration to configure the IP address, DNS, default gateway and hostname, you must also configure the IPv6 default gateway when you first start network set up, otherwise the vMA may be inaccessible from the network after the connection.

    No help for configure this VMA is very appreciated!

  • Address IPv6 for E2500

    I have recently installed a dual band Linksys E2500 and noticed that there are IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Is this a normal configuration? What is a normal IPv6 address for Linksys routers?

    IPv6 is complex and very different from IPv4. I don't think I can explain it easily.

    Unless required by your ISP, I recommend you disable IPv6 in the E2500.

  • IPv6 and IPV4 aid

    Hello everyone,

    I use a MacBook Pro 15 of retina in 2013. My ISP provides IPV6 connectivity yet, so I created a help service of Hurricane Electric IPV6 tunnel. I created a raspberry Pi to give IPV6 addresses on my subnet and everything works as expected. I have IPV6 connectivity on my MacBook and I can browse IPV6 sites. I did a test on http://ipv6-test.com . The results are positive, but he said that my browser (latest version of Google Chrome, but the problem is too much on Safari and Firefox) is not compatibility help. If I try the test again on Windows, Android, ecc. the warning message disappears.

    The problem is that I can't browse websites using my MacBook. For example, the Apple site has not been appearing: I ran wireshark and Chrome was trying to load everything using IPV6, without success. Also try to access https://eolo.it/ (my ISP site) generates errors: it does not always work on my MacBook, while open it under Windows and IPV6 has no problem at all. I think that my MacBook (or in general OSX El Capitan) is not able to fall back to iPV4 when site an IPV6, but it does not work. I've read about 'Happy eyeballs' and I would like to know how to solve my problem.

    I know that I could move to IPV6, but I prefer it to be, and in, I would like to be able to use iPV6 when my ISP provide me with an IPV6 address.

    Thanks in advance.

    I don't remember, in Sys Prefs > network > advanced, is there still a way to put automatic IPv6?

  • Airport Extreme connected to TIVO: why I can not change Type firewall for IPv4.  Field displays IPv6 and is grayed out so I can't change.

    TIVO requires certain ports to be unblocked.  So I try to add the ports requiring TIVO.  But when you try to add the default Type of firewall IPv6 Port Mapping ports and I can't change the value of the IPv4 Port Mapping because the input field is grayed out and no is not accessible.  With Port IPv6 mapping I enter values in all areas except for the IPv6 address because I do not know what value to enter.  I think the button 'save' ' is not available to hit because the IPv6 address field is empty or not valid.  Note: my router Mode is ' Off (Bridge Mode).  Same questions if my router DHCP Mode.

    I changed my router Mode DHCP and NAT, then on the Type of firewall on the default page add ports, IPv4 Port Mapping and I could add ports but with this setting, I couldn't connect to internet in my Airport Extreme: my status remains orange light flashing.

    I use Comcast and my Airport Extreme is connected to my Comcast router using ethernet.

    I use my Airport Extreme as a router (wired and WIRELESS) and as a backup device.

    My TIVO is connected to my Airport Extreme using ethernet.

    How can I add the Ports requiring TIVO.

    Golden in the networking rule. ....... Never try to configure port mapping when you have two devices on the same network the two acting as a router.

    Unfortunately, this is exactly what you're trying to do.

    You have three options:

    (1) run the Comcast router "as what" and configure the port on the device of Comcast mapping... .the airPort Extreme must be configured in Bridge Mode when you do this.

    (2) lance to the AirPort Extreme router Mode of DHCP and NAT and configure the ports on the airport map... the peripheral Comcast must be configured to operate as a simple modem in Bridge Mode when you do this.

    (3) lance to the AirPort Extreme router Mode of DHCP and NAT and configure the ports on the airport map... swap Comcast modem/router you have now for a simple modem (it will have only a single Ethernet port).

    In other words, either the Comcast is defined as the router and AirPort Extreme is in Bridge Mode... or... the AiPort Extreme is configured as a router and Comcast must be configured in Bridge Mode.

    If you choose Option 1, then we can not help you on a matter of Comcast router. In bridged Mode, the AirPort Extreme requires no configuration.

    If you choose Option 2 or Option 3, then we the following port values that the Tivo device needs:

    Public or UDP ports

    Public TCP

    UDP private

    Private TCP

    In addition, you need to find the MAC address for the TIVO.  It is a long code that looks something like this, for example:

    A1: B2: C3: D4: E5: F6

    A link to the Tivo instructions for port mapping would also be very useful.  I have done this with a TIVO in the past, but is for some years.

    If all goes well, an expert of TIVO will post to lend a hand.

  • Wifi MacBook - ipv4 vs ipv6 issues

    Hello

    I use an Airport Extreme edition last, software 7.7.3, to distribute the connection of my Internet service provider. The router DHCP, Airport Extreme is only a wifi router.

    I have many devices connected with happiness at the Airport (iPhone, printers, my macbook), however my friend's macbook 13' sometimes fail to connect to the internet. I can't know for sure it connects to the airport at all, but it seems because it has an IPv6 address. I read somewhere on a forum that it could be related to ipv6. And indeed when I change the settings of 'Link-local' only airport, it connects in IPv4 and it works like a charm.

    No idea if it's a bug of macOS or bug Apple Airport will address?

    Thank you.

    This is a bug and there long... Set the link-local Mac only for IPv6 on the wireless or ethernet, depending on which is used.

    Auto which is by default gets it wrong more often.

  • LRT214 IPv6 DHCPv6

    Hello

    I recently bought this new router and when my main PC is assinged an IPv6 address, it only uses one of RADVD. Is it possible to disable RADVD and use DHCPv6 only? When I tried to use DHCPv6 only, it does not provide the gateway address and therefore it cannot be routed over the internet. Ive also tried RADVD with active M flag, but he always uses the RADVD address.

    Thanks for the posts. I am very glad that TWC IPv6 working on the LRT. I had some concerns, that I discussed with Linksys engineering regarding IPv6 LRT quite some time and it seems that those who have been resolved.

    This problem can be Windows associates see the link below:
