Is it OK to run two anti virus programs?

I have Windows 7 with IE 8 and Windows Defender came with the Tower, that I just bought. The saleswoman at the store gave me WebRoot AntiVirus with SpySweeper and told me to uninstall Norton... install the WR. So my question is... It's cool to run them both? And Yes, I uninstalled Norton.I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong forum, I'm new. Thank you.

Hello

At the same time is going to cause a lot of problems and actually reduce the overall protection.

Frankly, neither of those who are known for good compatibility and usually cause problems.

Here's what I use and recommend: (all are free and work just fine.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
Operation of the network.

Prevx - Home - free

Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
disabled - click OK
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
Finish those you don't use).
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/   <-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp  <-->

PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

I hope this helps.

  • Value of anti-virus programs

I know that anti-virus programs have never been approved on this site, but I just had an experience that might be of interest. I meant Apple support on a minor matter that they helped me difficulty. Just by talking to them, a very annoying noise (a quick series of four or five beeps sounds strong, metal or clicks) began. She disappears for a few seconds and then, inevitably, come back. It was so strong that I was afraid that my iMac was damaged, and the technician that I was talking to said that she had never heard such a sound. She also said that she could not help me and I have to take my computer to the shop for repairs. That's how things stayed until just at the time when I used my anti-virus program in a desperate attempt to find and fix the problem. Before that, I kept my computer off tension and silence for fear of damage to my machine.

When I applied the anti-virus program, a never-ending stream of files would have been smart appeared on my screen. I was really stuck between the proverbial rock and a hard place, so I decided to trash all of these files. However, after I had deleted THIRTY or FORTY of them, I realized that I had not heard that annoying noises since I started, so I stopped the rampage even if an unknown number of suspicious files remained. It was probably the best thing to do because the noise is not returned.

I don't mention the name of my anti-virus program because some might think I'm just a sneaky vendors, but I think that my experience means something. I could be wrong but it seems to me that this noise is caused by some malicious programs and it fixed my anti-virus program. In any case, I'll send my thanks to this company. They saved me a trip to the Apple store and without a car, it was definitely a trip worth the savings. My iMac 27 "transport by bus on a forty minute trip is not my idea of a fun to spend the afternoon.

FWIW, there is no OS x viruses known in the wild. I don't am not personally at the malicious power of any software that would result described sounds. Without knowing which files have been marked as "smart", there are nothing to say if they were or they weren't. A possibility is that your drive is a failure that can cause noise described. Removing some of the "malicious" files the drive may be inaccessible in the region, that the drive is failing.

I would run first aid disk utility to see if it reports errors. I would keep an eye on her.

  • When you download an anti virus program I get the message of insufficient permissions, why is it I am logged as administrator.

When you download an anti virus program I get the message of insufficient permissions, why is it I am logged as administrator.

    Hi tomholland69,

    ·         What is the full error message?

    ·         You are able to download other programs?

    ·         What web browser do you use?

    ·         What anti-virus program do you use?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

    Hi algrant,.

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

during the uninstallation of Kaspersky products such as Kaspersky Internet Security, Kaspersky Anti-virus , it leaves some files on the computer and is not completely uninstalled. But you can remove it completely using Kaspersky remover tool. Download the tool and remove the program completely. Search using your favorite for more information search engine.

After uninstalling Kaspersky, also turn off the Windows Firewall or any other third-party firewall and then start the installation.

You can download the Kaspersky remover tool from the link below:

  • report said it did not find an anti virus program? I have Macafee

    Hi Cc' Jackson,.

    1. When did you start to question?

This problem occurs when Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) does not work on a Windows Vista-based computer.

To resolve this problem, you must analyze and repair the WMI repository on the computer database. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Start, type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following commands. Pressing ENTER after each command line:

    WinMgmt /verifyrepository

    WinMgmt /salvagerepository

    c. restart the computer and check the system health report.

    Hope this information is useful.

You cannot save your programs - a clean installation wipe everything from the hard drive.  Programs need to be reinstalled (they cannot be copied or saved) - and you probably wouldn't do anyway because there is a good chance that some of the infected files can reside in these same programs.  The ONLY way to avoid this is to get your hands on a real Windows Vista Installation disc, so we can attempt a repair system/upgrade where your programs will be preserved (and we don't know yet if that will completely solve the problem of infection but it probably will restore the functionality at least for a certain period of time).

Sorry for the bad news, but that's just how it is.

  • Two Anti Virus Applications on the A2109

I've read here to get to the root of the A2109 to remove the bloatware and unwanted applications.
My question is this, you can remove the Norton App without having to the root of the Tablet?

And if can't even put on my Anti Virus Application that it bothers Norton?

Because I take Norton is not a free application?
Because I've never known Norton to never give you something for free...

And if rooting is necessary to anyone can point me in the right direction on the way to the roots A2109 and remove all the nonsense I can't want?

I also read on here about also having to unlock the bootloader as well.
Also how can I do this?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm pretty new to android, even if I had touched in Linux a few years back.

Thanks again for any help you can give...

You cannot remove completely without root, but you can disable it.  In settings-> Apps, click on the 'All' tab, find Norton and select it, there should be a button 'disable '.
