Is it possible to change Windows server 2008 32-bit to Server 2008 64 bit with same key

We have a Server 2008 Standard 32-bit and must be upgraded to 64-bit Standard so I can add more memory on the server. We can use the same key with some exceptions or do I have to buy a new license.
I already did on windows 7 and windows 8 in our office but don't know if we can do it on the server. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

    Hello:

You can legally download W7 wherever you more unless you have a product key from retail full version, (including one on your PC isn't the case).

The best thing to do to reinstall W7 would call HP at this number (USA/Canada) and order a set of W7 for your PC recovery discs.

A set should cost about $10 mailed to class 1.

There is no downgrade option, you must perform a clean install of Windows XP 32-bit and reinstall your applications. Don't forget to back up your data files and check that you have the product keys and installation media for even before you start.

  • Found the CD Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit with key, is there a way to see if it is valid?

So, I was just digging through a pile of junk today, and found Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with a product key stuck to it. It was an OEM kit (for some reason) and I wanted to see if it had been used. Is there a program to see if it is valid without installing it? Because I don't want to lose activation on this just check to see if it will work. Help is very appreciated. (I don't want to use a phone, if that's possible! I hate using the phone... xD)

If its opening, its likely has been used. Once you break the seal for an OEM System Builder kit, you are bound to the license agreement.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Run OEM Windows Server on hypervisor on the same hardware?

    (1) get physical server which includes licensed OEM for Windows Server.

    (2) wipe the drive and install a hypervisor, such as the independent (free) version of Hyper-V

    (3) install copy OEM of Windows Server on the virtual machine running on the hypervisor

Is this legal, in what concerns MS licenses, and there will be problems with activation? I have scoured the internet looking for the answer and have determined that it is absolutely not possible. And I also determined that it is absolutely possible. In fact, nobody seems to know for sure. Everyone here knows for sure?

Yes, you can, and Dell tells you how (licenses are different for 2003, so this applies to the 2008 and subsequent versions).  You can even install OEM 2008 on the physical server, and then install it as a virtual server, as long as the physical instance is only used to manage the virtual instance (Hyper-V), the Hyper-V hypervisor or other free/independent is not necessary.  Each edition (Standard, Enterprise, etc.) is a license for a different number of virtual instances.

  • Cannot connect to Windows Server Core after installation with VMWorkstation

Yes, I chose not to add the ISO image later and now, I ran the installation a dozen times in all directions.

Whenever the installation finishes I'm not given the option to enter a password instead, I am presented with an 'Other' account with a password set on it already which is unknown to me.

Does anyone have this problem before?

Well, when you make a Windows Server 2008 Standard (Server Core Installation) it seems to be quite normal to the «Different user» login  What I did after clicking on 'Another user' I typed in Administrator and no password and then clicked on the round right arrow button on the screen, the next screen has warned "the password must be changed before logging on the first time." and then click OK.  In the next screen, I entered the password and confirm the new password as was then able to connect.

  • Remote access Windows Server 2012 through internet with desktop connection

Summer messing about with it for days and don't get no love.

Try to connect with Windows 7 Ultimate edition to Windows Server 2012 Data Center version from outside my home network, Starbucks or McDonald's or my server at home.

Tried all these steps found in this promising and useful article:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/allow-remote-desktop-connections-from-outside-your-home-network

    1. Allow connections to the computer you want to access remotely. DONE - ADDED to THE SERVER AND NON-ADMIN ACCOUNT to RDP GROUP of ROLES, using network level authentication. Connection of Win 7, so this method of authentication should not be a problem, I assume.
    2. Make sure that remote desktop is able to communicate through your firewall. DONE - FOR BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE RULE.

    3. Find the IP address of the computer on your home network you want to connect. MADE - by using the ipconfig/all command

    4. Open your router configuration screen and worms forward port 3389 for TCP IP address of the destination computer. DONE - NOT TCP/UDP but TCP only, internal and external port goes. Note: The use of a booster signal wifi at the end of the House, it is a problem that requires additional configuration? I don't think he has an ip address or acts as a router. But in desperation I can try unplugging then again head the local Starbucks to try to connect.

    5. Find the IP address of the router so that the remote desktop can be found on the Internet. DONE - using "what is my ip", pretty easy.

    6. Open Remote Desktop connection, and connect. ACTUALLY, I think THAT, IN ENTERING [ip router]: 3389.

But the result of the message is always the typical:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled.

    > But this is not true, that I am capable of the DRC at home on the server machine.

    (2) computer remote is not off.

    > But this is not true, as I just left home 30 minutes and sometimes it's rarely, only restarted.

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network.

    > Don't know what that means. Of course the remote computer is not on the network, I am on right now. It's on my home network. But I can ping my router ip via cmd, then coming to the outside can be done; through my router, I should be able to access inside my home network port forwarding w. But no love.

So... what to do, what to do...

The wifi booster is a problem?

Connects to the Data Center edition a problem?

What happens if I uncheck the option ' use authentication NLA, is that the passage of the security risk?

Any ideas about the configuration I could be missing before giving up and go for VPN or TeamViewer. I would really like to see materialized during all the time that I put in trying to run the DRC.

    Thanks for any input.

    / Markus

  • How to change Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit with no disc?

I've upgraded Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit to 32 bit Ultimate.  I want to do a custom 64-bit Setup, but does not.  Now that I've upgraded to Ultimate 32 bit how can I change to 64-bit?  My upgrade was merely a box with an activation key, no disc not provided.  Upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to Vista buying and don't download from MS Store so no original or the other disk.  Thanks for any help!

You must have the disk to do a clean custom install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Contact the Microsoft Store for a replacement disk:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/fb8230d4-000F-4ee7-b732-c9f8fff28bfd

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

Can I put two 8 G in the slots. Read some reviews say the software works and Windows 7 pro 64-bit can take up to 132 G RAM, if that was even possible. I run two internal drives. Hello

As mentioned previously, there are SEVERAL dv7t editions and special editions. We have dv7t-3000, 4000-dv7t... and it is very difficult to find the right plug. Please use the following link to find the product/model number:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00033108

Your machine could be the following:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5292645 &

If so, the #4 on the following manual page it support 16 GB max:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5292645 &

You can have 2 x 8 GB, no choice. Only a few portable computers that have 4 slots and supports up to 32 GB. No way on this earth at this time, you can find a laptop that supports the 132 Gb of RAM.

    Kind regards.
