It is perhaps possible to s

Go to www.bootdisk.com and download a bootable Win98 floppy and run FDISK to remove all partitions non-dos.

If you don t have a USB FDD drive, to see if you could boot from the memory stick USB boot Win98 disk files.

But a question; Why you want to format the HARD drive? Have you ever created a Vista recovery DVDs?

    Hello

    Your message is not clear
You said that the laptop has been formatted Ok have you installed all the drivers from Toshiba?

You must use the European driver of Toshiba page to download driver.
The laptop seems to belong to the PSU30E. You should choose exactly this model in the form of download number.

But these drivers are only required if you have installed a clean Windows operating system.
If you use the Toshiba Recovery CD/DVDs you n t need the drivers because the image already contains the Toshiba drivers.

  • Satellite U300-111 - what version of Windows 7, you can recommend?

    Hi all!

I have a friend with a Toshiba Satellite U300-111, and it wants to install Win7 on it.
Since it has a T7100 processor, I think she could install the 64-bit version, but it seems that there are fewer drivers in charge compared to the 32-bit.
Do you advise me to continue for 32 or 64?

    Thanks for any answers :)

    Hello

Yes, for notebooks, you have a better driver support on 32 bit OS because 64-bit OS is not necessary if you have 4 GB RAM or more installed. Alternatively, you can use only 3.2 GB of RAM.

So if you have less RAM I recommend the 32-bit version. :)

  • Satellite U300 connected to the TV - video format not supported

I am using Toshiba Satellite U300-15 q and it has a vga output, so I bought a cable and a box that transfers analog signal to VGA to hdmi digital so that I can connect to my Sony TV are 32 '.

But if I connect it it says on the tv in video format not supported in yellow letters.
Why is this and how do I solve this problem?

Throughout history the problem is you are using third party hardware or software so described this issue has nothing to do with your laptop computer Toshiba or Toshiba in general.

On the mobile side is important, the video signal is sent to the right path. What will afterwards and why this signal is not transformed correctly falls within this box.
    What box are you using?

In my opinion you should contact the manufacturer of this box and their support. They should know how it works and how to solve this problem.
In General, Toshiba has nothing to do with this problem.

  • Strange devices satellite U300-15 after the new installation of 64 bit Vista

I just got my Toshiba Satellite U300-159 (model No. PSU30E-07901NN5)

It was a display model used in the store where I bought, so I wanted to do a clean install.
Using the recovery cd did not work. (Something about some files than couln can't be read).
It is a really bothers me not at all because I want to run it with a clean Vista anyway, so I jumped into a Vista Home Premium 64-Bit UK + SP1 and installed it.

After that the installation was done, I ran windows update to get a little more drivers for the few items that not have installed correctly.

After that almost everything worked very well.

    Except:
I had two entries in the called Device Manager device Base System. They are found under 'other devices '.
I have looked around the site of toshiba for the drivers, but can't find anything that seemed as if it was the thing that I was missing.
(Actually I'm not sure I've found the correct support page. I learned to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp and was able to select 3 versions of U300. U300 - ST3091, ST3092-U300, U300-ST3094)

Everything on the PC works well: card reader, bluetooth, graphics card, wireless + LAN cable, keyboard shortcuts, sounds etc.
The only thing that is not working is when I put it in mode "Eve". The screen goes black, the powerled stays on and the fans continue to operate. It is not possible to bring him back again if.

Does anyone have an idea where to find these drivers?
Or maybe just sort the problem of sleep difficulty?

I reinstalled using the recovery CD and choose another language and thus skip the defective cd.
But the sleep problem was still there.

An update of the bios, mentioned in this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=32002&tstart=15 solved the problem.

I have always an idea that both devices are well...

  • Satellite U300 - gel on the homepage

    Hi all!

I have a problem with my old Satellite U300 for 2 years.
Never had any problems with it, except last year when it started to freeze on the Toshiba homepage.

I push the power button, then the disc hard starts but stops immediately and is stuck at the home page.

Hotline of Toshiba told me that it was a problem of use of the area of energy and the battery at the same time at the launch of the computer.
So I tried their stuff. Removed the sector of energy and the battery for 20 seconds and try to restart the toshiba.
Sometimes, it works. Sometimes it takes 3 restarts to make it work.
Does anyone have another idea about the origin of the problem?

I have not reinstalled vista again because I said it was not the problem.
Thanks a lot for your answers

    Hello

May I ask which welcome page you mean exactly? Do you hear the Windows Welcome page or the Toshiba BIOS screen if you have turned on the laptop?

To be honest, if you reinstalled Vista using Toshiba recovery disk it doesn t seem to be a software problem so I think it has something to do with the material

  • Satellite U300 works without current alternative. can't stop either

    Hi all

I have a portable Satellite U300 - 13 k which was purchased recently (1 month ago) and has the following problems:

    1. it does not start without power regardless of whether the battery is fully charged or not
It will come without the battery.
Once the laptop is on, you can unplug the AC power and it stays on.
The battery is charged and seems to have a normal life to discharge about 4 to 6 hours.

    2. the laptop cannot power off (to stop it) whether it is on current alternative or not.

The laptop has Vista Home Premium installed on it, and Vista seems to manage power options. Toshiba Power Saver utility is not available for Vista (is that correct?;) I tried to install the version available for Windows XP, but it is not compatible with Vista).

My question is, do I need a new battery? And why the laptop does not power off after stop? I updated the bios to v3.6 (from v2.5)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Gopal

    Hello

I don't know Mr. what could cause this problem but try this:

The BIOS to set the option * WAKE-UP ON BATTERY = ENABLED *.
and save the changes to the BIOS.

I hope this will help. If this isn't the case, I recommend you contact the ASP in your country to control the laptop because it certainly isn't normal behavior.

    Good bye

  • Re: Satellite U300 hibernates when the battery is very low

    Hello

I bought my satellite U300 141 two weeks ago.
The computer is not put into hibernation when the battery is very low.

I checked the settings of vista, default 2% of the battery capacity, the laptop must Hibernate. But mine is not.
But I noticed that the battery level does not fall below 5%. I tried to change the setting of vista from 2% to 5%, but it has no effect.

Telephone toshiba support told me to update the package of the value 'stretched out' or something like that, but it has no impact too.
    the problem is still there.

    Anyone have an answer?
I also tried to update the BIOS, but during the upgrade process, the software told me that I can't because I'm not the administrator of the computer, I am sure I am.

so, if someone can help me please...

Please check first if hibernation was enabled in Vista power options.
Then you can assign to hibernation level up to 10%

Maybe then your laptop will be able to enter hibernation mode

  • Re: Is it easy to downgrade the Satellite U300-111 from VISTA to XP

I bought a Toshiba U300-111 and it comes with VISTA Home Premium.

I wonder what is the best way to this downgrade to XP Pro? I ask the retailer that sells to me, and they asked me to contact Toshiba support. I wonder would be Toshiba offer me a free replacement of XP instead of VISTA? Since I had asked for XP, but the seller told me that they cannot help me.

Also, I have another machine with XP Pro top (it's a phone from another manufacturer and XP came bundled with it). I intend to install linux on it, it would be ok for me to use the license for this machine to install XP on my Toshiba laptop?

    Thank you

Of course, it is easy to install the XP.

First you must install the Intel Storage Manager. This driver is required, because without this Intel Matrix Storage Manager XP does not recognize the HARD drive.
After a successful installation of the Intel Storage Manager, you can continue the installation of XP, and after installing the OS, you can install the drivers from Toshiba.

    > I wonder would be Toshiba offer me a free replacement of XP instead of VISTA
No, you can buy an original MS XP

    Hi mate,

    Please visit this site: http://linux.toshiba-dme.co.jp/linux/index.htm

Here you can find information about linux on laptops. Maybe you should take a look at BSD forums, which should give more information then here, since it is here that Toshiba user forum where people discuss hardware related issues.

Linux is a little more complicated and you should get a new one for some answers. I had the same problem and I found my answers in Ubuntu and gentoo forums.

    Welcome them

  • Is it possible to set up a printer wireless without the USB cable?

    Hello

I have a HP Photosmart C4580 and I wanted to set up to run on a network, but I don't have a USB cable. I tried to install it without one, but it does not appear on the network, and I was wondering if you really need a USB cable to install it?

    Thank you.

    1. turn Radio on wireless to the printer.

    2. on your computer, search for all available wireless networks. You should find a named "hpsetup". Go ahead and connect to this network and ignore all warnings.

    3. wait 1 minute after have connected you to the network. Then, print a network of the printer Configuration Page. It should list an IP beginning with 169.254.x.x.

    4. type this address in the address bar of any web browser. You will reach the Embedded Server (EWS) Web of the printer.

5 use the Wireless\Networking tab at the top and looking for an option to ' 802.11 wireless networks. On this page, you will be able to enter your network settings wireless (screenshot attached to facilitate their identification).

    6. make sure that you change the SSID for your network name. Click on the option button 'Infrastructure' and enter your WEP\WPA pasphrase. ENTER THE SSID AND PASSWORD EXACTLY AS IT IS, OR IT CANNOT CONNECT TO THE NETWORK.

    7. click on the button to apply and wait for the confirmation of the parameters being recorded.

8 restart the printer. Once again the Config network printer page. Now, it must have a such IP assigned by your router and not with 169.254.x.x.
