  Instead of Alt-click again to bring back the layers, right-click on the eyeball, and choose the show/hide option in the context menu. This will bring back all the layers and depends on all hidden layers.

  There is a way, but it is risky and unsupported by Microsoft.  If you try it, make sure you have a good backup of your system and know how to restore a system that won't start plu with it.
