Is Windows 7 is already installed?

When Win 7 Home Premium was released, I bought several copies at retail to install on different computers.  Some of these computers no longer exist due to a catastrophic failure (and carcasses have been recycled after erase disk or deleting).  I have a copy of Windows 7 with a note about the date and the computer on which I installed, but have lost track of this computer.  I think that it has been destroyed, but am not sure.  Is there a way I can determine if this copy of Windows 7 is currently installed and active?  If this isn't the case, I want to use it to update a computer with Win XP.  I have the original disc, label of product key box, etc.

Thank you much for the help.

just a comment, an evolution of motherboards will almost always trigger necessary for activation of the phone.

It is my understanding that a unique hardware hash is created at installation. I have no idea how the activation servers use this, but I suspect it matches the product key with the hardware hash. (probably more to it than that)

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

5) stay on the phone (do not meet all the automatic guests) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

(6) explain your question clearly to the support person.

If I bought a computer with windows 8 is already installed (windows 8 sucks) can I uninstall it and install windows 7? Windows 8 has to be the worst software ever. It is like going back to the iceage of computers. The LAGS and timing on is horrible. I expect right cruse, that she does not exist. It's like a person driving a car with their foot constantly on the brake.

You will first need to go to the website of manufacturers for your model computer and first find out if there are native drivers in Windows 7. A large number of computers that are preloaded with Windows 8 have no native driver support for Windows 7 by the manufacturer. If there is no native driver, you will need to consider returning the machine and buying a machine preloaded with Windows 8 Pro with downgrade rights to Windows 7 Professional. Or look through the catalogue of manufacturers for systems already preloaded with Windows 7, usually the business sector will have these options.

I have Windows 8 is installed and an iso of Windows 8.1 on my USB.

My previous version of windows (which is already installed on the hard drive) will erase if I boot from a bootable USB. Please help me!

When you upgrade to 8.1 Windows it will replace your Windows 8.0. The only way I know to have both is to buy a copy of Windows 8.1 and install on another partition or drive.  Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

This is my first post here and I apologize if this is a stupid or already answered question.  I'm in the market for a new computer and I would like to know when hp computers will be released with windows 7 already installed in them?

The official launch of Windows 7 is on October 22, 2009.  At this time, you can buy a HP with Windows 7 preinstalled computer.

  • Windows XP Setup when Windows Vista is already installed

I already installed on my computer Vista Service Pack 2.  It sucks.  I bought Windows XP.  How can I get rid of Vista and install Windows XP on the spot. ?

    Hi RZunino,

If you have purchased a full version of XP then just put the XP CD in your CD/DVD-rom and restart your PC. As long as your BIOS is configured to allow the first boot CD/DVD ROM (all modern computers have CD/DVD as first boot device) the XP CD should start and you can install beigin. When it comes to "where you want to install" just install on your original Vista operating system.

One point to keep in mind. Before installing XP visit your PC manufacturers to make sure that XP drivers are available for your particular model. PC installed with Vista may not have XP drivers available in which case some hardware may not work correctly.

  • Pavilion a6220n: updated my BIOS after Windows 7 is already installed

    Hello.

I bought an a6220n Pavilion in 2008 because he was very progressive.  In 2010, I updated the video card with an ATI Radeon 4770 and upgraded to 4 GB of RAM.

Recently, I backed up all my stuff and restored the computer to factory settings.  I installed 8 GB of RAM. Then I started Windows 7-64 bits of an installation disc.

So now Windows 7-64 bit is up and running.  I think so.  Internet seems to be very slow.   It recognizes the 8 GB of RAM and video card, video card driver, and other system drivers are up to date.

I want to spend my CPU to a Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 Ghz, but in order to do this, I'll probably have to update my BIOS.   But when I try to update my BIOS Installer tells me this:

While this means?  I need to restore to Windows Vista, upgrade the BIOS and then install on Windows 7?

Or is the BIOS of Windows 7-compatible Windows Vista?  If this is not the case, where can I get the version of Windows 7?

    Jj3down, welcome to the forum.

You can only update the BIOS to the operating system that came with the computer.  In your case, Vista.  This means that you need to perform a system recovery to return the computer to its original configuration.

  • When Windows 7 is already installed, disable Hyperthreading. Possible without reinstallation?

I have a quad core i7 with 7 installed windows Enterprise. I have run a large number of programs of single-thread for the heavy calculations, so the multithreading is really costing me a lot of time. I can use only half of the cpu, that I could use without hyperthreading (12-13% instead of 25%). I would like therefore to change that.

Now, I've read on several you have / have not not to reinstall your Windows to change this hyperthreading. So I come to you: How can I approach this better, without loss of stability (which I very need), with minimal effort and without unpleasant side effects. Reinstall everything will take me a few days, so the boss it like really if I have to.

    See you soon

Played when even a little last night. Disable hyperthreading in BIOS worked, and none of the strange things are go to my windows. So I can confirm, on a quadcore i7 with Windows 7 Enterprise, you can disable hyperthreading without having to reinstall Windows.

As expected, R rotates much faster (depending on the tested code between 1.5 and 1.8 times faster) and uses 25% of the total CPU (so use 1 physical core now.)

  • Add already installed windows 7 in the new windows Boot Manager installed 8

    Hello

Today, I installed windows 8 on a system where windows 7 is already installed. Now the disk selection step, I noticed a 100 MB partition where 80 something mb was free. I thought that this partition is not necessary and delete this partition. Successfully installed Windows 8 is installed.
Now when you boot Windows 8, there is no option to boot to choose from. I open msconfig but given that only windows 8 is here. So, I understood that by removing that I share, I did some bad.
Now please can you me how to add windows 7 as a starter in Manager startup without having to reinstall any OS? Its really really important and urgent.
    Thank you.

You can use the Windows 7 disk and rebuild the boot configuration data. Start the computer in safe mode with command prompt using the disc.

What are the system recovery options in Windows 7?

At the command prompt, type the following commands, and press ENTER.

    Bootrec /fixMBR
    Bootrec /Fixboot
    Bootrec /rebuildBCD

Restart the computer and check the issue.

  • Windows 7 own re - install, don't delete old partitions

I'm doing a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (already installed, I just want to start over again) on my Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook.

It's a netbook without an optical drive, so I plug an external one, insert the Windows 7 disc and change the boot order in the BIOS to make it work on the first disc.

When I get to the section "Where would you install windows?", listing all them were leaving, I have my list. It includes a former OEM with Ubuntu partition, I had originally, the system reserved partition, and partition that I got the OS installed on. There is also a Volume containing the rest of the disk space that I used for data & files, etc.

Anyway, when I click on advanced, the options to remove are grayed out. It is therefore not let me remove these partitions/volumes, in order to create the space to install the OS again.

I thought that it is a problem when the installation of installation runs from the current hard drive, but I can assure you it is the start of the DVD.

  • Blue screen with the installation of new windows on that already pre-installed

Hello everyone, I'm sorry if this has already been addressed, and I wonder about the same thing. I found a few messages about my problem, but it did not totally help, so...

I bought an M70 in Germany, he has Win XP it already installed, but I wanted to install my Windows with a different language. When I start the computer from the disk, there are first this blue screen saying that it is responsible for many drivers, etc.. Then, it suddenly stops when he finished to load all the stuff. There is only a cursor in the top left corner (the one in DOS mode) and nothing happens. What could be a problem?

Is there some kind of blockade on the hard drive that prevent me from formatting the partition and install another system? My windows doesn't include SP2 on cd, usually I install it later.

I saw at least a similar post, someone suggested to download on the site section to find information of navigation, but I failed in doing that. Can someone help me? I would be extremely grateful for any information!

    Mike

    Hello Mike

I put t really know if included SP2 has something to do with it, but the fact is that the unit is pre-installed with Windows XP Home edition which include SP2. I think that once I read that a guy has to try something similar and included SP2 installation successfully.

If you can get a CD of Windows XP SP2 home edition installations (any language just to test) Please try to be sure if the problem is occurring because of this. Also, make sure that there is no external device is connected so that the facilities of the process runs.

    Bye and good luck!
