Issues of Media Center

My media center starts to turn are when ever I try to use Netflix or whatever it is that it keeps restarting and saying he will try to find a solution any idea what is the problem?

Hi 13months.

Please use the Forum of the community for Vista.

First of all make sure that you have the latest updates and if you do, try the following.

Please open the event viewer and let us know what errors are appearing.

As soon as Media Center stop, (does crash with an error message)

in the search bar above the ORB start and press ENTER, type event viewer.

Look under the Windows domain and system and see what are the mistakes that happened right around the time, stop.

Please let us know what you find.

I tried to add movies (files) to Media Center, but it does not work.
I select the (local) drive, then click on the folder (where are my movie files), then next, but it does not add.  Why can't we just TYPE in something like that?  And why this menu seems to go to sleep?  My system partitions a WEI 7.8 and I click on a menu item and the software just sits there for a few seconds, then responds.  Where was all this time?

All my movies have very useful and consistent file names.  How do I get MMC to view THOSE and not the odd internal name in the files of brand somehow?

Is it possible to associate a poster of film or jpg with each film so the inscription looks better?  Now, it's a bunch of blocks of sickly aspect (who chose these colors?).

When you watch movies, MMC insists on sending audio directly to the optical output, bypassing the volume/mixer Windows and the volume control in Media Center.  The + - at the bottom does absolutely nothing!  Execution of Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, I have total control of the volume, as for all the rest.

There is a scroll bar?  They make it easier to jump around in the media file.

I run Media Center (on a system with two screens) and it goes full screen.  The mouse is stuck on this screen.  Why?

On another Win 7 (Premium) system with a TV tuner, how I record TV on my data disc?  The boot drive is much smaller, and since I regularly back up, I like to keep all the data off of it and on a table.  I wish that my machine "DVR" record TV shows on that second most "drive" too.

Must Media Center be run to have a programmed recording to arrive?  (I know that the computer must be on).  I guess what I'm asking is if Media Center includes a service that runs in the background, time and the timing of registration, monitoring and who uses Media Center or the utility to record at the right time.  If Media Center is open and running, it is adjustable to open reduced?

Thanks to all who can offer clues with all this.

During a Media Center, go to tasks.

Then TV > recorder > recorder storage

Change the drive where Media Center records there.

Media Center is not need to be run to record TV, it will record what you have planned in the background.

  • No tile Internet TV Media Center

I have a laptop for years and noticed that my Media Center had no Internet option that was supposed to automatically download TV.  Despite the disabling the firewall and tent several times a manual download, not Internet TV.

I thought that maybe I need to do a TV installation, but when I try all it says is that I don't have a tuner and it will not go forward.  I don't see why I would need a tuner to get internet TV, but it would have something to do with it?

Tips on how to get my Media Center up-to-date and functional with Internet TV in the menu would be appreciated.

    Hi lisamarie721,

    Please use the answers.microsoft.com.

Involving the issue of Media Center and information showing him get & will not start.  Check the event viewer for more information regarding the failure to install or crash.

It is always important to have a good backup on hand, then run the troubleshooting steps.

Try the download updates, and then if they fail, view in Event Viewer.

Here is the process to get into the event viewer - click Start ORB / computer right click / Select manage / select event viewer.  Search for information about the installation failed and record that information in the forum.

If you have a good backup and got the information that we solicit, run SFC/scannow and CheckSUR utility and confirm that they are running with no errors.  If they correct the errors, you can retry the download.

Here's the information to run SFC/scannow diagnostic tests and the CheckSUR

    1. SFC Scannow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
    1. CheckSUR http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957310 examination method 1

Please make us aware of the conclusions from these results, while we continue to work for the determination of the TV Tuner option.

I have a problem getting Media Center 2004 version compatibility to work with Windows XP, Service Pack 3. Does anyone know of a problem here? Are they compatible? If not, anyone know if there is a fix for this?

The material that I was referring to is the material that you were talking about, namely your card graphic and sound card. I thought that this could be as simple as installing the correct hardware drivers.

As I am not very familiar with your particular PC, it is not that I do. You can switch to the thread where PA bear you helped:

    Hello

    · What is the exact error message that you receive with the error code as appropriate?

You can try the steps listed in the links below and check if it helps: Configure the Windows Media Center Extender Firewall: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/extender/setup/firewall/winfirewall.mspx

As he tried to connect your console Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender, you receive the error message: 'Xbox 360 not found': http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911129

    Hello

    Run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

  • Issue of Windows Media Center

Hi, before 20 October 2014, I had not used my laptop since 20 December 2013 as I moved house. When starting my computer, a message came up saying that I had to install updates. So I clicked the button to start the process.

PROBLEM 1) after getting all the updates, appeared a new desktop called 'Windows Media Center' case. No matter what I do, I can't remove it from my office, and it automatically opens all the time. When I click on Microsoft Office Word, and then open Windows Media Center and I can't access Microsoft Office Word. Windows Media Center has also changed a lot of my program icons on my desktop to Windows Media Center.

Help is sought urgently because I now live in the country in an area of remote access and my computer is connected to my laptop - so I have limited data

My computer is Windows 7 Home Premium and Microsoft Office 2010

    Thank you

I'll leave your other Thread to the crew in the Virus and malware Forum.

Just a couple of things about it.

    1. you have never given us any indication that Windows Media Center has been Malware in this thread.

    2. you say that you have downloaded AVG, even further into it you say you have always installed case, even if the subscription has expired.

You can not have 2 antivirus installed without having any problems with your system.

3 AVG and McAfee both disable Windows Defender by default.

    See you soon.

  • Can not play music in media center 2004 on Satellite P15-S470

    Hello

Last weekend, I upgraded Windows XP Media Center SP1 to SP2 (because MS no longer supports it) on laptop Toshiba Satellite P15-S470 to my father. Tonight, I found that his Media Center 2004 refuses to read audio CDs audio error: "To play music in media center, install Windows Media Player 9 or a repair."

After a long search on the Internet (e.g., newsgroups and forums), I found this a known issue since the release of SP2 in 2004. He worked before SP2 and other music players (for example, Windows Media Player (WMP) v10 and iTunes v6.x) have no problem. I tried to use Registry MCE 2004 provided by Toshiba and HP fixes (just for fun) and restart, but they did not help.

Is there anything else to try next to the clean installation of SP2 and the BONE with its software? I was about to update WMP to v11, but I discovered that it does not work in MCE 2004. :(

    Thank you in advance. :)

    Hello

You have this problem its just at the point where you use WMC to listen to the music CD or also with other players?

Is there any problem, indicated in the device (sound card) Manager?

  • HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n problem

So I had this problem which started today.

When I booted my PC: HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n - it goes to the startup screen with the HP logo but it remains just there frozen.

Another thing I have noticed is my mouse and keyboard are not powered at all even though they are correctly connected to their respective ports.

I don't know why he acts up like this now. I tried to connect the mouse to another PC and it worked, so there must be something wrong with the HP Pavilion itself.

Wouldn't be the motherboard or some circuit?

Other things to note that I got this PC reformatted all for more than a year with an installation of XP (as he came originally with XP).

Restarted the PC and still has the same issues. CD Player opens, the PC itself is powered and the screen is frozen on the blue screen HP startup. (Shows the menu and controls everything, but can not yet exploited cause there is not going to the keyboard.)

It is possible that a RAM module is either lost contact with the slot, or is defective. Can help with reintegration.

    (1) note what slots are occupied. Remove all the RAM of motherboard. Here's the tech manual. Put 1 module in the slot located near the CPU. According to the chassis, it could have a radiator/fan together.

    (2) unit to retest. Repeat with additional modules.

    (3) any module that tests OK can be reinstalled in appropriate accommodation.

  • HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF: Some HP Windows Media Center buttons on the remote control does not

I have a desktop PC HP Compaq 8000 Elite SFF that I use as a home theater PC.  I'm under Windows Media Center with 2 cards tuner and antennae of the OTA.

With this configuration, I use a HP Remote WMC.  The model No. inside the cover of the remote control battery is TSGH-IR01.  The issue I'm having with the remote control that is stationary and move forward and "back" button do nothing when you press.  The light at the top of the remote control flashes when you press those buttons, so I don't think that the buttons themselves infrared are failing.  All the other buttons on the remote work fine.

I wonder if it is a problem of programming/software and if so, what should I do to solve this problem.   It's annoying to not be able to stop a recorded program is playing when you press the stop button, but having to use a mouse to do it instead.   Any help that can be given will be very appreciated!

For anyone having this problem, I discovered the cause after reading a post on the forums of thegreenbutton.tv.  An application in Chrome or any browser Chrome (in my case, the Slimjet browser) is the culprit.

For me, it was the Plex app.  He was diverting the judgment and move forward and back buttons on my remote HP WMC.  As soon as I disabled the application of Plex, the buttons started working.   Never would have guessed that this was the problem!  Hope this helps someone else who might have the same problem.  Ah, tech.  Isn't beautiful?

  • m1070n media center power problem

I am running XP Pro on an HP m1070n media center & is no longer powers upward. I checked the power supply & it tests OK. I noticed that when I plug the cable of 12 volt 4-pin on the motherboard that the power supply light turns off and stays off. If I let the 12-volt cable disconnected and the power led remains lit on the back of the computer. What is a bad mother or some other hardware problem? I've changed most of the things inside a computer, but never a motherboard. I have thousands of photos of family on this computer & must try & recover. Should I consider the delivery back to HP for service (which I think would be very costly), or it would be easy enough to simply buy a new computer & recover photos to a new system (for example, Windows 7)?    Thanks for reading this.

Given the age of this 'July 5, 2004', I wouldn't recommend giving it at the service of HP.  It will not be worth the cost.  If "thousands of family photos on this computer" are on the hard drive, then who can be saved.  The issue "it would be easy enough to simply buy a new computer & recover photos to a new system (for example, Windows 7)?   Yes I can't answer for Windows 8, but I guess it's just as easy.  Just get a these: http://www.amazon.com/Drive-Adapter-Converter-Optical-External/dp/B001OORMVQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1359482606&sr=8-3&keywords=USB+3.5+hard+drive+adapter

or something similar.  Remove the hard drive from the old computer, cannot connect to the newly purchased, adapter plug plug USB and copy the images on the new computer or DVD, or an external hard drive.

BTW: I would like to make an extra backup of all the photos on a regular basis to other media of your choice of future protection

  • No sound with hp pavilion media center m8020n

Almost 2 years, I got the video card replaced in my HP Pavilion Media Center m8020n.  Shortly after, the noise disappeared.  I have Windows Vista and an HP w1907 19 '' LCD monitor.  I have tried everything I can think to restore the sound and would like to know if the problem is the PC, speakers in the monitor, of which.  Thank you.

    Hello:

Your replacement video card has an HDMI output port?

If so, probably disabled video card audio system integrated.

To activate the onboard video, enter the BIOS, find the onboard audio setting.

It will be set to auto or off.  Change the setting to "Enabled".  Save the configuration when you have made the change and again when you exit the BIOS (save settings and exit).

When you restart and return to windows, you should have the on-board audio back.

If your new card video has no hdmi port, or your audio settings on the BIOS is already active, then unfortunately, I don't know what could be the issue.

  • Windows Media Center 7 (64-bit) falls down for TV Set Up

We have recently installed a Ceton Infinitv Quad Tuner (and the latest updates and SW) for our Windows 7 Ultimate PC.  I followed previous forum advice and started the PC to the selective startup to isolate third-party issues, run the .net framework Cleanup tool, reinstalled the components needed .net framework (1.0, 1.1, 3.5, 3.5 SP1 and 4.0) and disabled MC Update.  None of them have worked.

I get to the settings--> TV and Media Center menu crashes or TV---> Set Up TV Signal and Media Center crashes with a message 'Media Center' stopped working.  Other than this issue Media Center works very well.

Any suggestions for how to deal with this?

    Hello

You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Try to uninstall and reinstall Windows Media Center:

    Step 1:

    Uninstall Windows Media center:

    a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".

    c. find multimedia and uncheck the brand in the face of Windows Media center.

    d. restart the computer

    Step 2:

    Reinstall Windows Media center:

    a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

    b. click on "Turn Windows features on or off".

    Check out the link:

Turn on or off Windows features

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-features-on-or-off

    Method 2:

Also try to update driver BIOS and graphics card to the latest version. You can check the manufacturer's Web site to do the same.

Make sure you have the latest updates of Windows installed.

You can also check if you get an error in Event Viewer about what is causing the problem.
