iTunes ignores the library I copied on my new PC

I have a new PC and a fresh install of iTunes. I don't have any old PC to export/backup/whatever of. I only have his readers.

I copied the \users\ < username > \Music\iTunes\iTunes Media of an old drive to the iTunes media folder location pointed to by iTunes on the new PC.  I also copied the files in \users\ < username > \Music\iTunes (e.g. iTunes Library.itl).

But iTunes does not show my library.  It shows the songs I purchased on the iTunes store. with a download of cloud icon. I see no other music

I suppose I could play one of the songs and see if it puts it in the right place or wrong - but I suspect, it will be in the right place despite the file being already there and make a duplicate.

The library is on the local drive.  I copy and paste the path to the configuration iTunes box to a shell to check that it was OK.

I met problems similar years, every time that I moved to a new PC or new player.  I remember the old library before importing in the new iTunes and if I remember correctly, it's a mess.  So this time, I looked for instructions and so far they do not work.

In the past I had to use a 3rd party app to remove duplicates iTunes created.  Really hoping I can get to use my library without making a mess of it.

  • iTunes error: the library iTune .itl file is locked. On a locked disk or you do not write to this file permission

    Original title: iTunes

    I have just updated from XP to 7. I downloaded Windows Easy Transfer, but it wouldn't work if I copied all my files on my external drive myself.

    Once Windows 7 had loaded, I started to transfer them to my computer.

    I tried just down load iTunes 10.1.1 from the internet, and everything seemed to go ok.

    But iTunes is not working and I get the following message "the library iTune .itl file is locked. "On a locked disk or youdo not write permissionfor this file."

    I saw this message on iTunes support and it is said that the 'My music' folder is located in the default location in Windows XP.

    Does that mean I lost my music and what should I do to be able to access/download the iTunes player.

    I have songs on different drives so I have quite lost music. I am simply unable to play my iTunes library because I can't access the drive.

    Thank you.

    P.s. I'm not very good with computers.

    Hello

    Change the permissions on the folder / my music/itunes (and all subfolders and files) so that it is not "read-only".
    Here's how:
    a. by doing a right click on the name of the iTunes folder, and then select Properties.
    b. you will see the read-only check box. Make sure it is disabled.

  • problem with iTunes after the library to

    At first when I updated I had literally 0 music in my itunes, it has been deleted, it gave me an option to "search for media" after doing so, I don't have that half of my library is up with doubles and triples of the same song.

    See the empty/corrupted after upgrade/crash iTunes library to restore your library as it was before the update.

    See Re: reinstalled itunes on new pc and all the songs are duplicated for advice deduping. The script I wrote works on what is connected to the library so that if you have restored a working version of your library, but the titles are dubbed upward in the media folder, then you may add to iTunes with file > add folder to library before you can clean.

  • The library is copied on the largest disk - how re-point catalogue?

    I copied my entire library LR from a hard disk external 1 TB to a new 2 TB internal striped RAID (27 hours). People should take it all the time, the expansion of their libraries, so I think there must be a simple way to activate the original library the library catalogue double on another drive. The only way that I can think of is to disconnect the original drive and then get LR to find the missing files on the new disk, but that looks more like a work around to a "process". Nobody knows the "correct" way to get the catalog to point to a copy of the library rather than the original?

  • Passing of iTunes and iPhoto Library of 10.4 Tiger in El Capitan

    I have an old iBook running Tiger and want to transfer music and picture which is held in the iTunes library and the library of iPhotos on my new iMac El Capitan.

    I realize that the Migration Wizard does not work between these two machines and I was wondering the best way for them to move so that they are imported into the new iMacs attendance.

    Any help greatly received.

    I think the easiest would be to export music and photos in folders on an external hard drive, and then import them into their respective applications. There was too much change to each app to simply move the libraries and expect everything to work properly I think only.

  • Cannot open the library - 'Photos' obsolete?

    Hello!

    For a few weeks, I have been unable to open my library Photos... States of photos that the library was created by a newer version of Photos, and that I do need to update 'Photos' a newer version.

    I use Yosemite version 10.10.5 (fully up-to-date as I write this), and my version 1.0.1 (215.65.0) pictures.

    I have no updates pending in 'App Store'.

    I'm not sure if my fiancee uses el captain or not on his cell phone, and she could have updated the library... But; I think that 'photos' to Yosemite and 'photos' to El captain are the same software, and this should not be a problem?

    But; I think that 'photos' to Yosemite and 'photos' to El captain are the same software.

    It is not the case. The latest version will update the library and the earlier version will not open it.

  • How to call a shade of the library

    Hello

    I'm writing a script to create a new document from the AI with a restricted swatchbook. The designer is supposed to use only the ink/color chart provided by this script.

    So far, I was able to delete all current shades and add a shade spotcolor CMYK or RGB.

    var inkt02 = app.activeDocument.spots.add ();

    inkt02. Name = ' inkt 2';

    inkt02.colorType = ColorModel.SPOT;

    var kleur02 = new CMYKColor();

    kleur02. Black = 10;

    kleur02.cyan = 80;

    kleur02.Magenta = 0;

    kleur02. Yellow = 90;

    inkt02. Color = kleur02;

    var newSpotColor = new SpotColor();

    newSpotColor = inkt02;

    newSpotColor.tint = 100;

    thePallet.addSpot (newSpotColor);

    Often we discuss Pantone colors. No need to define these, since they are already inside GOT it, no? But how to call from the library?

    I'm new to ExtendScript, but this forum (and google) helped me along well so far :-)  I do not have a case of practical use for this yet, but I decided on this exercise as a good way to learn more about ExtendScript.

    There is no access to the samples library, other than the main Swatches palette. You must add these PANTONE to a document, and then open or place this document to have access to them.

  • iTunes says files in iCloud when the library is stored locally

    I am a subscriber of Apple's music. Just upgraded to the latest iTune 12.4.1.6 on my PC Windows 10. This PC stores all my music files taken from the original CD. Just noticed that all my music now has icon cloud beside him and I get the option to download. Before clicking play a music file information would show the way to the file on my PC. He said now iCloud status: Apple music and location: iCloud.

    That's happened? Why iTunes is no longer using the local files and try to play my music to iCloud?

    Is this the 'normal' behavior now?

    What happens if I unsubscribe from Apple's music in the future?

    The original files are still in the directory Musique\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music.

    Where all the playlists gone and why didn't appear my entire music library? I checked the preferences and iTunes points to the correct folder, BUT only my music purchased appears...

    Same thing happened to me. I tried to replace iTunesLibrary.itl with an older copy, but that has not worked. Then I tried to return a version by resetting the Time Machine's iTunes app, but it would allow me to edit or delete iTunes because it is part of Mac OS X.

    So, I can not sync my iPad or iPhone, update all apps or find my music, that is, the course of the odf, still on my hard drive. ITunes just can't see the library.

  • iTunes game will not play the most recent copy

    I bought a CD of Madonna in China and copied into my iTunes library. But when I listened, it turned a very bad quality of the sound, so I removed it. Now, I bought a new CD and copied to iTunes, but when I want to listen to it, iTunes playing the first version (removed). How can I convince iTunes and iTunes game to play the latest copy?

    You must remove the album from your library fully so that iTunes game no longer has a track in your music library to iCloud. You can then extract a new copy of the CD in the library again and it should download/match correctly.

  • Help the library iTunes scrambled, please!

    Hello world

    A while back, when the passage of the libraries after remove and replace the external hard drive, my iTunes library stored on, I had to change the library in the on the external drive. After Okaying of the library has changed, instead of meaning no, I inadvertently called to make a copy of the entire library, leading to a copy of the folder of iTune all on the level of the root of the hard drive. Through "Show in Finder", I noticed some songs in the music library, nested in the iTunes folder where they belong, and some are in folders that are are duplicated on the hard drive. There are tunes newly uploaded in these two places and, curiously, a few old tunes in both. That's why I say tunes scrambled. I would like to somehow rectify this situation. I would just trash these records and their melodies that are copied, but then my library, my music would be dotted with missing sources and I must search for, find and relink if possible the pieces manually, which would be a daunting task. I'm hoping there's an elegant way to straighten out this mess. I know my way around the Mac well enough, but I never really had the same handle level on iTunes and now I'm paying for it. Can someone give me advice or a protocol to reorganize my library and/or resolution of this problem? Thank you very much in advance at any time and in review. Any suggestions are appreciated by all!

    I'm running iTune 12.3.3.17 on a '17 MacBook Pro 8 GB of RAM end ' 011 model with OS X 10.11.3.' My iTunes music library is stored on an external HD to 2 TB with 5 GB left to spare.

    All the best,

    David

    Buy a new 3T or the largest disk.

    Copy the files to the current library and file work in / / < Volume > / iTunes.

    Option Start iTunes to connect to the library on the new path.

    Change the media folder to / / < Volume >/iTunes/iTunes Media.

    Consolidate the library in the new media folder.

    When it is all tested and working clean the original disc and clone the iTunes folder at him as a backup with a tool such as Synkron.

  • ITunes problem previous library playing on the new iMac 4K

    I just bought an iMac nine 4K El Capitan 10.11.1 running with iTunes 12.3.2.35. I also bought an iPad opportunity Air 2 out of glideslope. IPad is strictly for the use of music that I am a musician. Since I am unable to "migrate", I copied my old iTunes library on a hard drive, external, built of new playlists on the new iMac and then downloaded on the new iPad. (The HD was only a way to transfer the music.)

    It's just a few of the songs on the iPad part - but they all play in iTunes on the iMac. As you can imagine it's very frustrating because I spent two great to finally have a platform of music to date.

    Does anyone out there have a solution to this problem. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Especially of Kenichi Watanabe, who has been most helpful.

  • How to import itunes library and sides of itunes on the pc to new mac

    Hello

    Need help because I have recently taken the plunge and moved from PC to a Mac. I have can´t work is how to import my itunes library and the overall rating. in my opinion, it should be a simple thing but so far, all my efforts and solutions online did not work.

    I tried the data migration. This has created a new user. I thought that I could transfer the files in the set (all CD), but when I click on a song in the new user, it couldn t find the file. FYI I had consolidated the library itunes beforehand.

    I also tried to use an external HD drive. Same result even if I managed to put all my music on. I figured out how to export my rankings. Charge of their place and it worked until I clicked on a song and it couldn t find a file.

    This really should be simple so all advice very welcome.

    Thank you

    See make a library of portable split. A portable library can be moved from one platform to the other while keeping the ratings, playlists, etc. You can move the data over a network, or use an external drive. If you are using an external drive, so that you may need to copy the library twice larger Windows disks are NTFS format that OS X can read natively, but not will not write. And iTunes must be on a recordable disc.
