• Officejet J4680 question 'FATAL ERROR' on XP software installation

  I'm having a problem with the installation of the software for the Officejet J4680. I am running XP, and when it gets to 96% it seems to stall then later a bit shows a fatal error during the Setup error.

  The printer is installed and I can print (wireless) but when I click on the HP Solution Center a note appears saying "no HP devices have been detected. Solution Center HP close now. "Then, of course, the software has not installed correctly. I hope that this is a common problem that can be fixed quite easy.

  Thank you Mario for your answer. The steps that you list are exactly what I did when the error message came. However, the problem is now resolved. When I rebooted, Windows detected my printer as a 'new' device and asked me to load the CD. So I tried again and this time he accepted it and installation is complete. Maybe the CD was slightly damaged but accepted at the last attempt. Must try several times.

  I can't get the scan to searchable PDF (PDF and PDF) file to work as expected with my new J4680.

  It works very well with other formats (TIF, JPG, etc.), but not with the PDF.

  Thanks, the problem is resolved for now.

  Suppot of HP was somehow in the right direction. I uninstalled the drivers all (!) of the 'old' hardware HP (6110 OfficeJect, ScanJet,...), reinstalled the J4680 completely and from there everything worked.

  Internal error (WIN XP) seems to be related to a conflict with older drivers.

  I hope this help if someone having similar problems.
