  • Simulators not appearing is not in the JDE

My company has recently switched us to new computers using Windows 7, which requires me to re - install the simulators that I had used and the JDE (JDE is 5.0 and is necessary according to the needs of the customer).

Initially, I've deployed the Simulator on the default folder, but got an error whenever I started it. The research forums, it was suggested that the error would leave if I have deployed in a different folder.  So, I have deployed the JDE in a different directory.

Then, I tried to install the Verizon 9650 Simulator.  I have deployed it in the same folder that the JDE is deployed (for example simualtor is c:\...\dev\BlackBerry SmarthPhone simulators 6.0.0 and jde is in c:\...\dev\BlackBerry JDE 5.0.0). I stop the JDE during installation of the Simulator.  When I restarted the JDE, the Simulator was not visible in the list of Simulator (by default the simulators are and I am able to start them). Any thoughts on what I might need to do to get the JDE to recognize simulators?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dennis Brundage

Simulator installers should update the JDE when they are installed.  Try one of these installers as administrator.  They probably fail update the installation location of the JDE.

Or you can try to configure them manually.  To do so open the file SimPackage-# .rc located in the installation directory of the Simulator with a text editor.  Copy the decommentes lines (those that do not start with a #) and paste them into the SimPackage - JDE.rc, located in the bin of the BlackBerry JDE installation directory directory.

  • Install the simulators BlackBerry JDE 7.0, Windows 7

I've developed for BlackBerry for awhile.  I lived two computers and many JDE.  Not once have I could download and install a simulator that works with the BlackBerry JDE.  Now, I don't really have a choice and I need to install the 9850 Simulator.

The simulators that I download install and run standalone, but not BlackBerry JDE.  They are not displayed and my attempts to create a new profile of BlackBerry JDE Simulator so far have failed.

I don't see anything when I did a search, surely someone else has had this experience.

    Thank you!

    Hi James,

I have the JDE and several simulators device that runs correctly under Windows 7 64-bit set. Of course, I remove UAC before performing facilities. The JDE must be able to update the files when a new Simulator is detected and UAC seems to stand in this action.

Turn off UAC (at your discretion, of course), then re - install would be an option to test. The other would be trying to install in a directory that your user account has or is governed by the UAC differently than the directory "Program Files" (computer desk or C:\).

    Kind regards

  • Need a Clarification on the installed component and run Simulator Configuration

    Help!

I need clarification on what the plugin Eclipse is telling me. There are two parameters that are confusing me. For components installed (found under preferences/Window/BlackBerry JDE/Installed Components), I have a choice of 5.0.0 4.7.0,4.6.1, 4.6.0 4.5.0 and 4.3.0.

Depending on which component I select when I go in the tab Configurations.../Simulator/course walk, I see a different mix of devices.  In all cases, there is a default Simulator.

Initially, I assumed that each JDE component supports a mixture of different devices, and that is it compiled correctly, I would be assured that the app would work for all devices on the tab run Simulator Configuration.  In my tests, I found theopposite.  I also assume that, for each component of the JDE, there is a 'default' Simulator that was representative of all devices in the drop-down list run Configuration Simulator.  In my tests, am not sure what actually represents the Simulator 'by default'.

Can someone clarify how to JDE and Configuration simulators run installed interact and a developer show how to ensure that their application is running on a mix of devices?

When I finally get to the point where I am ready to deliver, what are the points of decision of installation?  Is it enough to simply require a specific version of an operating system (for example 4.7?) or do I have to create a grid and check the two model number and version of the operating system?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Not (rightly?) MDS Simulator using rimpublic.property

I'm testing an application that manages cookies on its own, so I tried to change the rimpublic.property parameter:

    application.handler.http.CookieSupport = false

but the MDS Simulator still manages cookies.  I then changed the value of WebServer.listen.port to 8010 and the MDS Simulator still load the web server on the default port 8080. This suggests that the MDS Simulator is not correctly read the file rimpublic.property. Initially, I had problems of file with Vista so I changed the permissions on everything under the directory "C:\Program research in Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS" so that all users have all permissions. That always has not contributed to the problem though. Anyone has ideas or information, why this is happening?

I'm v4.7.0 JDE running and modifying this file specifically:

    C:\Program search in Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS\config\rimpublic.property

    Thank you

    Joe

Well well if someone has the same problem, I managed to get this to work finally.

I reinstalled everything - the JDE, all my simulators and the JDE component Package (this can be unnecessary, given that I didn't tried the next step until after I did - twice). Then in the JDE, I put the directory of MDS Simulator - CS to use the version installed by the Installer component package to 'C:\Program research in Motion\BlackBerry JDE component package 4.7.0\MDS' (Edit-> preferences, tab Simulator MDS - CS). I also had to change the properties of that directory and give total control of the users group. And of course the rimpublic.properties file is now in the directory "C:\Program search component Package Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\MDS\config".

It works, but one of the problems is that the instance of MDS - CS turns off automatically when I close the Simulator. But I can live with that.

  • BB JDE Howto add different simulators

Hi all, new to this so I'm sure it's stupid, but I jumped a whole day trying to find all the docs...

BlackBerry JDE running on Windows 7 64 bit, I just the default installation work and functioning of Hello World, now would like to run a simulator different (8330).  Have installed 4.3 and 4.5, which should support the 8330, but still do not see them.  It doesn't seem to be a way to connect the dev environment Simulator installation, in addition to the copy of a bunch of files.

I guess I need a tutorial on how overall JDE dev environment available are-folders, files, file extensions, etc., what is needed where.

    Pointers?  Thank you, Steve!

Found, you must copy the start controls since the Simulator launch .bat file in the preferences for this particular Simulator.

  • Eclipse plugin JDE and 4.5.0 simulators

I have Eclipse with the JDE plugin runs very well but can't seem to change the default Simulator for a given version. For example, when you use the 4.5.0 Simulator game, Eclipse will always run the Simulator 8300 but I really want to test with the 8130 Simulator. I have the same problem with 4.2.1 still running 8800 sim card - I can't change for the 8700-blue for example.

I can run the 4.5.0 8130 Simulator manually using the file standard 8130.bat but I want to leave running within Eclipse.

I tried tweaking different files but can't Eclipse to change what Simulator it runs. Could someone tell me please in the right direction? Is there a secret file somewhere (I tried to change some of the RC files, but that did not help). Is there a registry setting? Or--shudder--is this hard-coded?

I use Eclipse with JDE plugin 1.0.0.22 3.3.1.1.

    Thanks for your time.

In fact, you can change it from within eclipse itself.  Simply edit the 'run configurations' and 'edit configuration' settings to implement a new Simulator.  It is also in the same place where you can configure other settings for the device Simulator (i.e. PIN for use, clear the NVRAM etc. etc.).

  • Clean.bat not in all simulators?

I can find clean.bat in the simulator that comes with JDE. But in the simulators that I downloaded separately (for example, BalckBerry_Simulators_4.5.0.55_8320.exe) and used with JDE, I can't see a file clean.bat anywhere inside the Simulator model. They don't clean.bat at all? How do you clean them?

These batch files are usually more then necessary. I tend to use for every directory of the Simulator:

    forfiles -p "C:\tools\rim\simulators\4.7.0.75-9530" -d "11/27/2008" -c "cmd /c if @isdir==FALSE del @file"

It will delete all files in this directory and after the date... then set the date for the next day, the Simulator was shipped.

  • Add Simulator to Eclipse JDE-Plugin

    Hello

I want to add a device-Simulator Blackberry JDE Plugin Eclipse.
I copied the SimulatorCommand8310-Vodafone and Vodafone SimulatorDirectory8310 of SIMULATORDIR\SimPackage-4.2.2.154_8310-Vodafone.rc to EJDEDIR\plugins\net.rim.eide.componentpack4.3.0_4.3.0.8\components\simulator\SimPackage-JDE.rc, but it does not work. Is there another file, where I have to change something?

Thank you very much for your help!

Plugins eclipse comes with the Pack 4.5 component. To use the other packs component and simulators, in Eclipse, you must download the update of the Eclipse software for the JDE component Pack you need. You can find them in here:

    http://NA.BlackBerry.com/eng/developers/javaappdev/javaeclipseplug.jsp

You can then select the comoponent pack to use in the window-> Preferences-> BlackBerry JDE-> installed components.  This allows you to use the simulators available for the component selected pack.

  • BlackBerry JDE fails to start after the installation of Simulator Tour 9630

I use JDE 4.7.0 on Win XP + a bunch of simulators.

After the Tour 9630 Simulator (v 4.7.1.40), I installed the JDE does not start.

I tried to run ide.bat via command line - it does not give error messages.

I tried to reinstall my JDE (with deletion of the dir of installation in order to remove settings from JDE is) - it did not help.

I am now able to run the JDE again after that I uninstalled the Tour 9630 Simulator. But I really need this Simulator because I develop an application for the round.

    What could be the problem?

Thanks to Marc post here the solution I managed to solve this problem.

    The solution is:

    1. install the Simulator
    2. Make a copy of its installation directory
    3. uninstall the Simulator
    4. manually create a new Simulator in JDE by using the copy of the directory
  • Simulators clean.bat versus own simulators Eclipse... cleanup option

When I run clean.bat since the directory: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 5.0.0\simulator it opens a DOS window and take clean actually almost 50 seconds.

When I choose the option Clean simulators of the project > menu BlackBerry in Eclipse it runs for just a second or less.

What is the project > BlackBerry > own simulators doing? He can't call the clean.bat file.

the bat file is a bit archaic, because it defines the attributes of each (original) file, remove everything without attribute and removes the attribute once again, something like that.

the right files are hardcoded in the eclipse plugin and so the code takes much less time to decide what to remove.

  • Cannot run the simulators that come with 4.7.0.39

When I try to start the simulators the

    C:\Program search in Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.7.0\simulator

book directly with the .bat files or through the JDE, I get an error indicating that these three files are missing (in this order):

    net_rim_bb_medialoader_sonic_networks. COD

    net_rim_device_apps_internal_browser_smil. COD

    net_rim_bb_help_wizard_images_9500.cod

When I copy files with the same names of the simulator which is downloadable separately (4.7.0.41), it tries to start, but then I get:

JVM error 543 - incompatible files Java System installed

Is there a way to get around this?

    Answered my own question...

    It works now that I deleted fs.dmp - 9500 and 9530 - fs.dmp.

  • Dissappearing requests for OS7 all and some simulators OS6 after reboot

    Hello

Applications that I load into some simulators to disappear in the menu after I closed and reopened the Simulator. Files saved as notes vocal files will remain on the filesystem through the Simulator interrupts and refills. Applications and persistent stored data disappear.  The problem seems to occur only on simulators for the current generation of BBs. These are simulators which lose applications:

    9330/6.0.0.436

    9850/7.0.0.144

    9850/7.0.0.261

    9810/7.0.0.261

On simulators and other devices, this problem is not upward. I use both the 6.0 and 7.0 compilers and stock BB d (without hesitation).

I don't mind reload the application but I fear not enter data that must be stored persistently. If the problem persists, I will not consider writing an application that loads the persisted data in the store, but I really want to do. Anyone know a solution to this?

    Thank you

    Scott

What version of Windows are you using?  Is - what the Simulator have access to write to the directory, they are installed in?  Also, check that you have not activated BlackBerry JDE settings that erase/reset memory when simulators start.  To check click on the Edit menu, choose Preferences, select the Simulator tab, choose one of the Simulator is you listed and then click the memory tab.  Check any of the boxes that erases the memory at startup are checked.

  • necessary assistance in operating a MIDLET JDE 5.0.0

    Hello

I developed a MOPED by using Netbeans IDE and the application works fine in all Ericson, nokia devices and simulators. I have to run the MIDLET in a Blackberry Bold 9700. But I had problems when running the MIDLET in the 9700 even Simulator. The MIDLET compiles and is built successfully, when I run it and go to the Menu-> downloads in the simulator of 9700, I couldn't find my app (mainMidlet) in there. I also checked the other files in the Simulator, but in vain.

"" Initially, I had the "module (mainMidlet) there are verification errors" and I removed all the System.out. println() statements in my code and I could find my MIDLET in the downloads of the 9700 Simulator folder and when I clicked it, I got a pop up alert in the Simulator saying 'module LWUIT contains errors of audit'.  I also get the following "the source code not available" message in screen JDE (see the attached screenshot".

Can someone help out me. I've been breaking my head for 2 days trying to understand the reason.

I discovered that by changing the type of 'project' in the project properties of the JDE to 'MIDlet', I could find my MIDlet application in the folder downloads of Blackberry 9700 Simulator. Please find the attached screenshot for the same thing.

  • Simulating the different devices in the JDE

    Hello..

Currently with my JDE 4.6 it only allows me to simulate a storm and the 8900. I want to simulate my app on a few different devices (to see how it looks and feels more small/more large screens). I was just wondering how to install of new simulators for my JDE and where can I get them out?

I'm new on this and any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Devices come usually with of the JDE. You can download new devices by downloading the new JDE versions. You can then run the emulator from the command line and choose to install the application in the menu. Point of the dialog in the JAD/COD that you created and it will be installed in the emulator. Of course, you can simply use the new JDE to build and run your project but if you try to maintain compatibility with a version of the OS, but testing on the new devices, which tends to work ok.

    Thank you

    Rick
