JPG file size inflated - Photoshop Document metadata: ancestors

Has anyone experience this problem?

I have a JPG file I have deleted all the image of and filled with white. When I save it, the size 7.89 MB. If I go into Bridge and clear metadata, probably ' < Document: ancestors > ' which contains ' RDF: bag <>"and 100 + lines of hexadecimal code, the file size down to about 150. Maybe I'm missing a file option on photoshop, but it seems that this metadata should be rubbed on the saved file. In addition, no one knows what kind of information is stored in the Document ancestors? Or if there is information from integrated image that could potentially be extracted?

I was able to reach out to Adobe through my work. They mentioned that it was abnormal behavior so that there are over 100,000 lines of Document ancestors and thought it's maybe because it was a model. It turns out that a lot of the art I work with has lines of ancestors, and when you place them in a whole new file, this file becomes the. Many of these assets are CG renders, which too would be new files. While I don't know source of the Document ancestors, I could find a way to eliminate:

function deleteDocumentAncestorsMetadata() {
    whatApp = String(app.name);//String version of the app name
    if(whatApp.search("Photoshop") > 0) { //Check for photoshop specifically, or this will cause errors
        //Function Scrubs Document Ancestors from Files
        if(!documents.length) {
        alert("There are no open documents. Please open a file to run this script.")
        return;
        }
        if (ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript == undefined) ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript = new ExternalObject("lib:AdobeXMPScript");
        var xmp = new XMPMeta( activeDocument.xmpMetadata.rawData);
        // Begone foul Document Ancestors!
            xmp.deleteProperty(XMPConst.NS_PHOTOSHOP, "DocumentAncestors");
            app.activeDocument.xmpMetadata.rawData = xmp.serialize();
         }
}
//Now run the function to remove the document ancestors
deleteDocumentAncestorsMetadata();

Adobe has indicated that these were intended for the medical legal file and contained no sensitive information. I also tested this script with a loop provided in one of the Javascript reference Documents, and while it removes successfully ancestors without opening the file, it does not reduce the size of file until it is opened and saved again. So it must be run before you save on an open file and fit easily in my save scripts. Problem solved!

If you are new to scripting, copy the lines above in a text of the document (no formatting as it can not work) and change the extension of JSX. From here in Photoshop, go to file > Scripts > Browse, locate this script to run on an open file. This can be tedious to do by file, so if you run on several, place the file in a fixed location and record an action that runs this script. If you don't know, once the script is saved you lot this script on the file navigation files > PLC > batch. Because the file needs to be saved to eradicate the ancestors of the document, I recommend pairing your script with a backup action as in a fixed location, as save in as long as actions will remember the folder you saved in.

  • Overview of .jpg file size stop working

    Using CS5 extended (v.12.0.1x32) in Windows 7 Entp (64-bit): my save-as dialog ceased to show an overview of the .jpg file size when the quality slider is defined.  This feature worked fine and seemed just to quit smoking.  Now all I get is the short horizontal line in place and place a certain number, and no matter how long wait, no file size number is displayed.

    Any ideas?

  • Why a jpg file size grows when I OPEN it in Photoshop before you do anything for her?

    I open a jpg file which my trusty Mac tells me is 2.4 MB, but Photoshop has immediately 34.8 Mb in size of the image. It is a picture of 72 dpi which is 59,333 inches width x 39,556 inches in height. I want to REDUCE it to one 17 "(approx.) size 11" for printing, which allows Photoshop to increase the resolution. I UNCHECK resample, and enter a width of 17. I have 17 inches wide; 11,333 inches and a resolution of 251,294 inches. Great! What I don't understand, however, is that - without Photoshop add no matter what pixel (remember, I REDUCE the size of the photo without resampling) - the size of the file is more than 14 times larger. The same thing with each jpg Photoshop I opened: 129Kb photo opens in Photoshop to 482.6 Kb; a 1.2 MB file opens to 5.49 MB, etc. I didn't not do anything at all, but open them. Without a doubt, it's something I should have learned (maybe you) long, long ago, but it has baffled me now. Very grateful for any help.

    The size you see in the finder is the compressed size. When you open it in Photoshop, you can see the enlarged size.

  • jpg file size during "Save as."

    You have worked on a jpg file and want to "save under" it.  You have the chance to choose your compression before saving.  In the elements, it shows the size of the file, so you can choose your compression level to meet the requirements of file size.  CC of Photoshop doesn't have this feature.  I find it frustrating.  Any ideas?

    Use the file export as... or save for Web... also found under file > export. These two options will show the size of the file.

  • Why the JPG file size decreases when Lightroom writes meta data?

    Lightroom uses the files sidecar XMP for meta data history for RAW files. When writing the metadata (e.g. tags) to JPG files, they are written directly in the header of the file. This should leave the image information in the file intact. However, the file size decreases (about 0.02 MB) when Lightroom writes metadata for the original JPG file. As far as I could see, the image information remain unchanged and no other information in the header is deleated, but why decreases the size of the file then (I expect to increase slightly or stay the same)? I work with RAW files for most but sometimes I just versions of the files to work with JPG and I don't want to lose any information.

  • Just installed CS6, but cannot associate the JPG file type with Photoshop.

    Earlier, I installed Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4. Types of PSD and TIFF files work fine, but I'm completely unable to associate the JPG, JPEG or any other variant with the Photoshop program, such that I can double-click on the photo file and open Photoshop and photography. I can associate JPG to bridge or Lightroom or other programs, but when I go to Photoshop, then select Photoshop.exe nothing happens, even not an error message. Does anyone have an idea what is happening here?

    Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit Edition. There is 4 GB of memory in the machine, which is a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop.

    I had the same problem. Initially could only associate JPEGs PS CS5, after removing the PS CS5 I still couldn't join the 6. Fixed after running the CCleaner registry cleaner.

  • Reduction in file size of scanned documents

  • JPG files saved in Photoshop CC 2015 errors in file suffix?

    I use Lightroom and Photoshop CC 2015 on my MacBook Pro retina, Intel i7, OS 10.11.2, 768 GB SSD, 16 GB of Ram.  When I'm done with a PSB, TIFF or NEF editing tool, and I write 'Online', I decrease the bit in 8bits depth, flatten the Image, Assign sRGB Color Space and finally do a ' Save As'filename' JPG.

    About 1/2 of the pictures have something wrong with the JPG suffix so that they can be brought online!  They can be placed in emails, Flickr', Craigslist or eBay.

    Even Photoshop don't reopen, calling for an "unknown file format"!

    Images appear in their appropriate folders, each with the suffix '.jpg '. In the 'Finder' Mac I have to 'Get Info' on each image, change the suffix CPS, then reopen in Photoshop!  THEN I repeat all the steps above, then make a new "Save as" with the same name and the same file, prompting a question to 'replace the file.

    I answer YES and now the Omnium JPG correctly!

    Any ideas?  I is about to fall back to my last purchase! PS 6 extended!

    I don't know if it's important, but make sure your CC 2015 is up-to-date as well.  2015.1.1 is the current version.

    In fact, what happens when you install ACR 9.3.1 on a system with CS6/9.1.1 and CC-2015/9.1.1?  The installer works through ok, or is there an error message?  No matter if the CS6 is installed through the CC app/previous media vs an original CS6 network Versions, where the cloud installed version is somehow more integrated in the world of CC?

    And maybe you want to uninstall CS6 and CC and update CS6 the program completely and ACR, then install PS - CC 2015 and update all the way.  Or maybe you want to install CC 2015 and get it to update, and then install previous Versions section CS6 in the CC application but that's maybe what you did.

    I have two CC-2015 and the CS6 installed from the CC app.

  • Size of the JPG files are really big? Changed to CC worm 2015.

    the .jpg files, I created one year before (and earlier) were around 300 k in size of file for a an RGB color of the file with dimensions 500 x 350 pixels recorded by clicking file, save under, with 12 quality .jpg.

    After upgrading to 2015 CC worm of Photoshop, the same exact files are now saved more than 1 MB? I used the same method to save as before.

    I reduced the .jpg quality to 8 (on a scale of 1 to 12) and she falls down to just less than 1 MB.

    I thought maybe it was because I was adding more graphics, so I created a solid black rectangle same size exact and recorded in CC 2015 and she was 1.07 MB, tried a white rectangle, 1.07 MB. Two solid colors using 8 for quality .jpg?

    Why the huge .jpg in size the file now? I understand using save for Web... etc, but if it worked before using the method I always used, why it does not work now and why Adobe it changed without notifying us?

  • Frame7.1 will not import Photoshop CS5.1 .jpg file

    I'm (reluctantly) in the migration process from Windows XP +.

    Photoshop CS V8.0 for Windows 7/64 bit + Photoshop CS5.1.

    FrameMaker 7.1 works well on XP and W7/64, including the generation

    PDF file. I can import .jpg files written by Photoshop CS. etc.

    ... except...

    If I open a (already imported) .jpg file checked using Photoshop

    CS5.1 and, without making any changes, save it, Framemaker may not

    more import it, either directly or by reference:

    "The filter has encountered an error and could not complete the.

    translation. "

    It seems that the Photoshop CS5.1 writes a file format different .jpg

    Photoshop CS (rhetoric: How can it be acceptable for CS5.1 to)

    change the format of a Basic .jpg file? but I digress...).

    Review the .jpg file original vs the .jpg file of CS5 I think:

    -The new file is smaller (79KB vs 82KO) - Note the two are small!

    -Content (reviewed by using a binary editor) is quite different.

    -Two versions of the same view, in CS and CS5.1 and in

    many viewers.

    I tried various experiments, try to understand this and have

    had no luck. I can open the CS5 Photoshop CS .jpg file and save it

    Once again but Framemaker will not open this version or the other, same error.

    This isn't a question of size of RAM (8GB), to space swap or something else

    associated with computer equipment. All SW updates are up-to-date, etc..

    I have tried to import into a new, by default the template file, etc.

    So, I tried recording in .bmp format and the first time I tried to import it

    FrameMaker died immediately: no trace of the stack, no error message, the

    Framework process had just disappeared. After the reboot, the 2nd attempt, I got one

    black rectangle size correct, but all black = not usable.

    Photoshop CS + Framemaker has worked well for several years, so I don't know

    It is a question of CS5.

    Anyone has any ideas on how to make CS5.1 to generate a file .jpg 'standard '.

    file?

    Anyone has any ideas on how to import images CS5.1 using

    FrameMaker 7.1?

    Please don't advocate the Framemaker to V10 upgrade... Adobe provides a zero

    information on migration (from any version) and the last time that we did

    This cost us several months of work to 'fix' 14 + 50 pages +.

    manuals. We'll stay with XP/CS and 'eat' the new W7/CS5 system

    before FM10.

    Thank you

    I'm embarrassed... I should have tried more of .jpg and .bmp.

    I went to .tif and select .jpg compression and

    (a) I can import the file

  • Adding a file vector photoshop document

    Nice day

    I want to add a vector image (.ai file) to my photoshop document, how could I do?

    Currently I export the vector image in png, then import the png to ch, but it is a raster image, I like it to be vector, as a custom shape...

    Thank you!

    Copy the vector illustrations to the Clipboard in a vector app like Illustrator, then paste it in a Photoshop document, then a dialog box will ask you to paste as a raster image or vector smart object or shape Path.

    You can also use the command set to incorporate a vector file as a vector smart object, but you will not be able to access its vectors with Photoshop tools. By double-clicking on the VSO will open the file in Illustrator.

  • Re: CS5 document drop-down window should default to the size of the document

    I'm not able to do this quite understandable question without a screenshot that shows the drop-down menu, as I couldn't find any reference to what is called the drop-down list. This drop-down list is the default 32-bit exposure with each new file open no matter how I try to change it - option click or save the workspace or vain seeking preferences for some tiny box I might have missed.

    However I am sure that CS4 has enabled this by default everything what I wanted - which, in my case, is the file size of the document - practical when there are many layers in a file blowing the size of the file, because it shows the origin and combined layers of size size.

    Can anyone suggest how I can make this default value to the size of the file permanently.Photoshop Info panel.jpg

    AFAIK, in cs5 if you change one of these settings and then leave photoshop cs5, the parameter should stick.

    However, if your opening or creating a file of bits/channel 32, then cs5 always default poster 32-bit exhibition in the form of a slider to adjust the exposure actually

    and then you have to manually chang back.

    I would try to reset the preferences of photoshop cs5 by pressing the shift + command + Option +, then from photoshop cs5.

    Keep possession of the keys down until you see a dialog box asking if you want to delete the adobe photoshop settings file.

    Because you do, press Yes .

    Also, make sure that photoshop cs5 is updated by going to help > updates of in photoshop cs5.
