It doesn't seem to be any advice on the Microsoft Web site. What can I do?

  Uninstall this update and download the KB954430 update and install it in safe mode.

  Here are the steps to uninstall the update:

  1. in the programs and features, click the link updates installed.

  2. scroll down until you find the update you want to delete, select it with the mouse and then click on uninstall.

  3. Windows Vista will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the update you selected. Click Yes and the uninstall process will begin.

  4 depending on the size of the update, the uninstall process may take from several seconds to several minutes.

  To use the safe mode option, follow these steps:

  1. reboot your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.

  2 use the arrow keys to choose Safe Mode from the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.

  Try following the article below and run repair to reset the Windows Update components and verify if the update is still available to install.

  If the problem persists, click Start and in the start search box type cmd. Right-click on CMD in the list and click Run as administrator. In the type invites the next and press to enter.

  ren %windir%\System32\msxml4.dll msxml4.old.

  1) click Start

  (2) in the start search box type appwiz.cpl, and then on enter.

  (3) click on see the updates installed in the left pane.

  (4) select the update (KB954430) from the list and delete the update

  (5) download the standalone update and install in manually on Microsoft site.

• Error code 643 trying to update XML Core Services 4.0

  I get an error code 643 trying to apply the following two updates by using Windows Update in Windows 7 Home Premium;

  -Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64-based Systems (KB954430)
  -Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 for x 64-based Systems (KB973688)

  I tried to update more than 10 times without success.  I get the error details: Code 643 for updates.

  Each update else installed very well so far.

  My system specs are:

  Windows 7 Home Premium
  HP Pavilion dm3 Notebook
  AMD Athlon Neo X 2 Dual Core processor l.335 1.60 GHz
  4 GB OF RAM
  64-bit operating system

  I noticed that there is no file msxml4.dll on my Windows/system32 folder.

  Disable all Firewalls and try to install the updates and the stand-alone installation (download manually).

  Reset the Windows Update components

  Please install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility from the link below

  Once you have with this uninstall Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0
  (KB954430)

  And then try to install it from Windows Update.
