Keep your PC until it is done. Updated 27 47

My laptop Acer Aspire V5-571 is running Windows 8.1 and hung up during an update for about 4 hours now. When I shut down and restart using the power button, it returns the same blue screen with the circle of rotation points, displaying the message "keep your PC until this." Updated 27 of 47 "installation. The keyboard and the touch screen do not respond. I'm running Avast free antivirus and do not any recent change in hardware or software. Basically I can't do anything with the laptop at this point. How can I get out of this situation?

Hello Yann,

Thank you for your response. I waited about a day for the update to restart, but the locked condition has not changed. The PC was completely insensitive to the keyboard and the touch screen. Then, I did what you are not supposed to do and powered down and back up with the power button. That I go back to the previous message without change. Then, I turned off the PC and removed the battery for about 10 minutes, thinking I had nothing to lose. When I reinstalled the battery and powered, the update is resumed at the 27 update and finished.

I guess the update file has been altered because of our internet connection is slow. The PC seems to work normally since the update.

I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

    1. are you able to boot to the desktop?

    2. do you have support for Installation of Windows 8?

    3. have you connected external devices other than the keyboard and mouse?

If you are able to boot to the desktop, then I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

Note: When you use the 'Refresh your PC' tool, your computer will render you the current Windows installation to the original installation version. This method requires you to reinstall all updates that are not on the installation. Applications that you have installed the drives or Web sites will be removed. You will find a list of applications on your desktop.

    Method 2:

Restore to restore the date before the problem started with the help of the system and check if the problem persists.

My sons laptop has problems - try to turn on and it would maintain a black screen for a few seconds and then turned off and turn and repeat until I've done a hard stop.  I am able to navigate to the top after repeated attempts.  I could take a quick and complete hard drive test and it passed... Finally, I restored to factory and spent the last 8 hours going through the update process.  It works fine and restart without problems until recently - I followed the instructions to reboot to perform an update, but he had served in the "shutting down" mode for almost an hour I did a firm hard down.  It took a few attempts so he could begin after that, and when I did I had a message on the svchost.exe and thought that might have something to with him... found a site that has a download that is supposed to fix errors and am curious if that is recommended or whether there is another solution or possible make my misfortunes.  The site is: http://www.exe-error-advisor.com/svchost-exe.  I don't know what's happening - the computer works very well when it turns - to be fair, I did also made an update of "HP Total Care Advisor" who has nothing and after I rebooted I could not make it work... If you select the download updates but let me choose... option, no update will install without your approval. Suppose an update will require a reboot and does not approve the installation of an update until & unless you are ready to restart.

You can change the AU for the "updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" setting. Once you have done this, you will need to approve the updates are downloaded, the updates are installed and where they are installed.

I prefer "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" setting.

  • is - it safe to download? "Keep your drivers up to date.

#3 Tip: Keep your drivers up to date
(Works with all versions of Windows)

    Download Driver Detective (0.99 MB)

    Adam
Editor in Chief, Windows tips & tricks

Driver Detective and other programs of this kind are a waste of money and of electrons. I strongly disagree with this trick in any case. The first law of Driver Updates is "if it's not broken, don't fix it". Normally if everything works, you want to leave things as they are. The exception is that heavy players usually want to update their video and sound drivers for every last bit of absolute performance of the equipment to get the best frame rate. If you are not one of these people, you need not update your drivers, if there is no problem you're trying to solve. If you are faced with a problem, so here's the information on the search for drivers:

Never get the drivers from Windows Update. Bring:

    1. site of the device mftr. ; OR
    2. site of the card mother mftr. If the material is on board; OR
    3. website of the OEM manufacturer for your specific machine if you have a PC OEM (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the Web site where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

    1. read all documentation that you got when you purchased the computer.
    2. If the computer is OEM, access the site Web of the OEM for your specific model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
    3. download, install and run a program of inventory of the free system like Belarc Advisor or System Information for Windows.

  • Just how I'm a veteran disabled in a Veterans Administration Hospital is going to be able to keep your windows 7 crashes my computer

Just how I'm a veteran disabled in a Veterans Administration Hospital course in order to keep your windows 7 locking up my computer and putting pop ups all over my screen. I have a Toshiba 1 years with a broken modem computer and so I can never go online to validate and it locked up my computer, so I bought a new better version of Windows 7 called the PRO version to replace Home Premium and now he is locked up, saying that it is not authentic. I'm starting to hate you - all at Microsoft as MY only time spent here has been playing games on this new computer with broken modem. My wife who lives in Texas bought this thing so since I am in Tennessee she can't stop. Here is my email address I want one of you, acquisition cards fresh rich to do something before going on facebook with my old to old to play dell games and tell the world how you - all to former fighter in this country now. E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

I ordered my Windows 7 PRO to Microsoft online of my old Dell, but he wasn't a download, and they should have sent me the numbers with my new box product, but they did not. Microsoft online sent what they thought was my internet address, but I could not see any emails, so they have my money and are happy and I have a piece of plastic and no numbers and I am not happy.

I suggest you hop on the Microsoft Store website and check your order history.  It should show what you ordered there.  You can post exactly (copy and paste) that you have ordered from here here (do not include product key.)

I assume that you chose "ship" among three given choices:

    1. DOWNLOAD + backup drive (add $14.95)
    2. Download
    3. Ship it

I'm not sure how they handle that - but I guess that they * could * keep your product key handy in line as well (since you suggest they we sent to you) and if that's true, then maybe you can retrieve your product key from the same web page, different link.

You said that they you sent product key, if I understand, but you have never...  I would ask them to do it again and check the address that they gave to their first record.  I stay on the phone with them while they sent and no crashes until you get the key to product by e-mail.

    • Dial the 1-800-MICROSOFT (1-800-642-7676) for technical support of the product in person, or
    • Call 1-877-MY-MSSTORE (1-877-696-7786) relating to your order of Microsoft US Store and get help with downloading and installing the software

I'd be surprised if the area they've sent you did not have a product key.  Maybe they do this now to prevent hackers down the product keys for good boxes they ship - but... it would be a little 'out there' for me.

On (in fact) that box of yours, I think that you should have:

    and

So you're saying that none of these things are there?  If they don't ship their software with the product key, I can see the second is not inside the box - but the first should definitely be there.

If all else fails - perhaps you should return; Although since you opened the box - you can not qualify. They can make an exception; all you can do is ask.

In other words. It synchronizes my main use Firefox on my main computer with other devices, so that they see what I've done on my main computer (what I want)

    OR

It synchronizes what I do on each device with the other?

    OR

You can choose which of these cases?

NONE of this is mentioned on the page.

AND there is no link to additional information or settings.

I guess I'll stick with XMarks (in which all this is clear)

(To add to my disappointment here, there no option to select to be notified of responses!)

There is no master device - changes triggered from any machine which will appear on all other connected devices.

Here are the General information relating to the recovery.

Contact Sony for the exact details.

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Basic tips to keep your printer running longer.

Everyone whats to get the most for their money, but many people do not know or realize, that you have to put in a little effort to keep things smooth.  Just as if you want your car to last for 1 million miles, you need to do regular maintenance.  If you want printer last more than 2 years, you must do a regular maintenance for her as well.  Granted it is not oil to change, or the transmission to the service, but there are rollers that need cleaned and nozzles that need to rinse.

For all the problems I have all come to work on printers, one I saw put more that it's fair share of printers low is the simple paper jam.  The jam itself is rarely the culprit.  The error message is normally what causes the need for replacement.  The error message might get stuck on the screen and turn your printer brick quite expensive.  The best way to avoid this problem is to not get a paper jam.  Paper jams are actually fairly easy to avoid.  Just a simple cleaning of the rollers with a lint cloth (coffee filter or lens tissue are best, but paper towels work in a pinch) and bottled water are the best things to use.  The lint cloth and water bottles are free of contaminants and ensure that any partial microscopic don't stay on the rolls.  If you're wondering which rolls to own, a good rule of thumb is just to clean one of them you can see and reach safely.  Remember to turn off and unplug the printer before performing any cleaning or before you get into the machine.  You must clean the rolls at least once every six months earlier if you have a problem of dust.

The next thing I saw leading printers must be replaced, was a print head that was out.  If the printhead goes out, the only options are to replace the print head or the printer if the print head is not replaceable.  Which can be expensive anyway.  The best things you can do to keep your print head is to let your printer is a regular maintenance, clean the print head no matter when you replace an ink cartridge and align the print head no matter when you replace an ink cartridge.  The steps to follow those who depend on the printer you have.  You should be able to find more information a cleaning and print head alignment here.

Something I have seen a lot, but never really caused replacements, were related to food.  Most of the customers of HP don't know that the printer they bought was built in the surge protector.  It is to have important information.  The reason why it is important is because if you plug a surge protector in an another surge protector, or power strip protector, the device you're trying to power, no matter what it is, will not be able to get all the power they need.  This is very true for printers.  Printers have a sleep mode, which reduces the power they use.  When the printer goes to wake up, it consumes more energy than normal, and a power strip or surge protector, be read as a hint of power, however the built in surge protector knows what is happening.  The first protector of power surge or power strip, will block the necessary extra power and cause errors on the printer.  To avoid this, simply plug the printer directly into a wall outlet.  If a socket cannot be made available, use an extension cord to power the printer from another outlet directly.

These are the three main things I noticed that cause people to have to replace their printers at the beginning.  Now these things won't keep things of bricking of your printer, but it will go a long way to prevent them.

    I hope this helps.
