  First of all, once you unscrew the keyboard, open the clip that secures it in place and reinstall the keyboard by ensuring that it is completely down. After that, now the flat cable in place, close the clip. Then, make sure that it is not lost and that it is seated correctly. Then turn on the laptop and see if it works. If this is not the case, try an external keyboard. If an external keyboard does not work, the keyboard on your MB controller is dead and you need a new MB.   My 6100 Pro Sam just being away from usual mother board and power Board replacement with Toshiba, but now I have a strange keyboard problem.

  When I turn it on, all the keys are working. After a few minutes, '3' is not working, then 'r' fails, then '5', ' 7 ', ' 8',' 9 ', ' 0' to stop working. Another reboot with the internal keyboard and an external keyboard to the PS2 is still defective (some keys work, others do not), but the outer one works properly.

  Right under the keyboard of your pro 6100 is the VGA graphics controller (the keyboard cable plugs on the same map). It is normal that this part become hot during use.

  It is strange that your problem appears after a while and not immediately.

  It could be just a bad relocation of the keyboard cable (it's a thin layer as a movie negative photo) which easily appears there, but... it may be something more serious, too. (Especially since you had done upgrade where the material had to be changed)

  I have a light keyboard Logitech model Y-UY95. When the awakening of the mode standby the keyboard does not work.  Anything can be typed. I have to restart Windows 8 and then it works again.

  Had a similar problem on a HP Elitepad 900 go to sleep and not waking up... update the firmware/bios fixed it.  This known problem when I called HP, was not documented any wher however

  Hi, thanks for the response. I have a keyboard and shortcuts will turn off. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I did run by pressing Windows key + LeftShift. I did a few tests now and there is something to deal with the Windows key + Fn (dell laptop). After pressing that firefox combinations see keyboard. WinKey + LeftShift operate again. Thanks anyway!

  I'm not quite sure that all this, but my hypothesis is code KBC m is missing in the BIOS.
  Satellite/Portege Z830 keyboard does not support keypad so maybe that's the reason why the numeric keypad on the keyboard can not be activated.
