  I have a model all-in-one 22-3020 who Support Assistant who kept harassing me to do a BIOS update.  I followed the instructions, he made a back-up and then the utility went down.  When you are finished, I continued to use the computer without a problem.

  Can anyone offer any other suggestions on how to try to restart the computer?  Is it possible to connect another monitor using the USB or HDMI so I can see if the F10 key is me to get into the BIOS (although I suppose that the repair people who would have thought).

  I'm the only one who has had my computer in brick by this utility that comes on the computer?

  Not the F2 and F3 keys is not a function in the BIOS. The screen cannot be cleared up or dimmed inside the BIOS.

  For the issue of screen resolution, the resolution provided for within Windows should also be the resolution on login/Welcome screen. Try to reset your resolution in Windows (without an attached external monitor), and then restart it a few times to see if the resolution sticks throughout the boot process.   The normal to access the BIOS path will be to press ESC then F1 during startup. This will give you the BIOS menu. Some laptops use ESC to show the progress of the POST and F2 to enter the BIOS menu.

  F8 will allow you to start in safe mode.

  F12 to select boot device (disk, CD, etc.).
