Lack of data instant recovery

Hello

When I try and run a backup job everyone failed to backup with the following message is displayed:

Cannot create capture instant for {name of VM}, error-3948 (exception of api vcb)

Someone has an idea what is because I can't see any problems configuration causing this and research the host event log, it seems successful to create snapshots and then just remove them again? I am able to take snapshots of the guests with no problems.

He works?  Make sure that name resolution works front and rear for guests and the host.

    My laptop is Toshiba Satellite A210.
    Through training the sales package is a system recovery with factory settings.

    I tried to restore the information through various programs (R-Studio, FileRecovery, etc.). I found the files, but an attempt to restore grants that size 0 bytes.

    Hello

    Using the recovery DVD everything will be deleted from the HARD drive.
    And if I say everything I mean everything. All partitions, the data, the files will be deleted.

    Sorry, but I don t think you will be able to restore files deleted using common software
    Perhaps a specialist would be able to restore it but it s always about money, you know I think that this rescue procedure is not cheap.

  • A broken chain instant recovery

    Nice day

    A virtual machine with a guest from Server Windows 2003, with VM tools, ran smoothly on ESX 3.5. After an interview, I noticed that there are a number of old clichés, made by a too aggressive planning, which was set a long time ago. I clicked on 'Remove all' in snapshot Manager. After several hours, the machine off seemingly without user intervention. An attempt to power it produces the error "Ramdisk parent has been changed since the child was created. At this time, I made some copies of the files and started trying to make sense. The VMDK are:

    Size

    Name

    CID

    ParentCID

    parentFileNameHint

    342

    x.VMDK

    43c2386f

    FFFFFFFF

    229

    x - 000019.vmdk

    3abd27a5

    0f81d0e9

    x.VMDK

    236

    x - 000001.vmdk

    3abd27a5

    3abd27a5

    x - 000019.vmdk

    And these are the scopes:

    Size

    Name

    32212254720

    x-flat hard

    251721728

    x 000019 - delta.vmdk

    63488

    x 000001 - delta.vmdk

    After a lot of searching on Google and reading (BTW, very informative site on the recovery of the vmdk for http://www.sanbarrow.com/sickbay.html), I spent almost 3 days, trying to find a handful of important files in there. I tried to fix the CID string to each combination, even leaving aside the tiny snapshot numbered 000001. I copied the files to my Fusion, while a colleague tried cloning in an ESX. The only thing that we have is to start the box as he was about 3 years ago which is about his age; Unfortunately, the files I need are in the 000019 snapshot, or lost forever.

    Being a truly desperate attempt to recover files bit, I wonder if there is a way to force the ESX, ESXi, or merge to use the snapshot, regardless of the change on the parent disk. Or maybe is there something I forgot. Pointers appreciated. A professional recovery service isn't out of the question, but I'd rather take the opportunity to learn a little bit.

    Here is a brief summary of what I did...

    We organized a session remotely via RDP.

    First of all, I've corrected the CID - the snapshot tree chain is broken - one using instant 000019.

    The other snapshot contained no data at all - I discovered while inspecting the delta file with a hex editor.

    After that this hotfix, virtual computer could be launched again but unfortunately snapshot 000019 was so corrupt that the virtual machine cannot start more.

    He said "ntdetect.com" is missing.

    Then, I started the virtual machine with a LiveCD MOA and noticed that the disc was not readable at all.

    I tried the usual procedure to recover a lost with testdisk partition table.

    That did not work either.

    So the next step was to try a raw recovery with Ontrack easy recovery.

    I was able to extract about 14 GB of data the vmdk corrupted and copied into a new vmdk, I added to the virtual machine.

    I don't know what 14 GB of data is actually usable - that should be checked the file by file.

    Summary: Unfortunately, there is no chance to recover the virtual machine completely - I hope the extracted data to be useful if

  • Re: Satellite P100: need to backup data using Recovery CD for Vista

    I have some problems with my laptop and I want to know what should I do a backup of my files before I put the vista recovery cd or I can put it like that?
    My installed l will be ok without backup or im going to lose them?

    Hello

    The use of the recovery CD Toshiba Vista redefines the laptop to factory settings. This means that you will get the same State as at the start.

    The recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and installs the image of Toshiba which contains the Win OS Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

    If you have installed all the important data and files on the HARD drive, then I would recommend running a backup before you start the installation from the recovery CD.

    I try with GetDataBack, but I found nothing.
    As an extreme idea, recovery disk Labs could operate effectively?

    In General before the installation of recovery begins any HARD drive will be formatted and new partitions will be defined. All the data saved on the HARD disk will be deleted.

    In any case as far as I know that you can recover deleted data using a third request for the part.

  • Simple question about data backup recovery

    Hi all

    It is the first time that I will propose Vmware Essentials Plus Kit as a solution to one of our customers.

    The solution will be X 2 DL180 server with 2 TB of storage each connected to an IBM iSCSI SAN DS3500 series.

    I want to be able to provide this scenario HA, and also, I want to use the data recovery backup to perform backups of virtual machines OF SAN DL180 server, so in the case of the SAN has very serious injury and can not be brought back online on the same day, in order to start the machines directly from the DL 180 servers.

    I would like to know if it is a supported scenario.

    Thank you

    Very welcoming. Unit vDR is certainly worth using because it allows long-term storage of backup and in a space images relatively small. Restoration of 10 mV because of a collapse of SAN he would not provide a simple and fast restoration.  The same 10 script ghettoVCB clones could be high in a few minutes.

  • Using primary data backup recovery

    Hi all

    Here we have an environment dataguard with db1 (db_unique_name) as primary and db2 (db_unique_name) Physics of the standby database. We have configured dataguard in environments of 10 g and we don't use a grid control. And now we want to configure rman for incremental backups. After you set up, we took full backup successfully in the newspapers of the previous day and archive. While the test case we dropped a primary data file and tried to get it back. It displays the following error. Also when I tried "overlapping backup" since the primary, is to show that all backups taken to sleep are "expiration". But the same backups show as 'available' RMAN connected standby mode. Can someone help with this problem?

  • Incomplete data file recovery

    Hello

    I use oracle database 10g (10.2.0.10) in RHEL5. I want to make a point in time recovery a backup data file. Through RMAN, I published the following command

    RMAN > run {}
    2 > sql ' alter session set nls_date_format = "dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss";
    3 > set until that time August 21, 2011 13:04 ';
    4 > restore datafile 4;
    5 > recover datafile 4;
    6 > alter database open resetlogs ;}

    But RMAN made a full recovery. Yet once again, I deleted the data file and restore the backup data file. Now, I wrote the following at the SQL prompt

    SQL > alter session set nls_date_format = 'dd-mon-yyyy hh24:mi:ss ";
    Modified session.
    SQL > recover datafile ' / u01/app/oracle/oradata/ORATESTDB/datafile/o1_mf_users_751h7fmh_.dbf' until August 21, 2011 13:04 ';
    ORA-00274: illegal until recovery option

    It displays the above error. But I am able to perform incomplete recovery of the complete database using RMAN same as above.

    Done datafile point-in-time recovery is not possible? or is there something wrong in my approach?

    Kind regards

    007

    A data file can be recovered to a point in time which is incosistent with the rest of the database.
    (why? Data integrity! A table with several extensions that can cover several data files. You can't have some scopes with data from 12:05 and other extensions into another file of data retrieved using data from 10:05! Even if it's a single datafile tablespace, you will violate referential integrity (whether or not they are applied) If, say, the SALES table has entries until 12:05, but the SALES_LINES table has entries until 10:05!)

    You can make a Tablespace recovery time by using an auxiliary Instance and then copy the tablespace back. You must maintain integrity.

  • data file recovery status

    Hi guys,.

    I have problem with data file in my Oracle 9.2.0.7 EE database (Red Hat EL 4 machine). I agree that this data file is in a State of RECOVERY, and I don't now exactly that. Because it is to develop the database I have no backup for that I couldn't do recovery.

    My question for you guys, is possible to somehow remove this datafile?

    As you can see someone has already tried to ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE ' / db/test.dbf ' DROP off LINE and there is no singular no results. TABLESAPCE have 10 datafiles so I can't get it right...
    We do not have this dataile, its empty and I just want to remove from my database...

    There is not directly from the version 9i way (AFAIK) falling specify data file for tablesapce. So for your case, you must create the new tablespace and need to move all the tables, indexes and clusters to this new tablespace and after that, you can drop old tablespace (so using this way you can avoid this problem). In addition to move the tables you can use ALTAR TABLE SKIP command or export/import utility as well.
