I'm in a lot of trouble at the moment, and if I can't solve this problem, I have to pay over $ 300
Thank youHello M.
Remove the battery and the AC adapter, press the power 1 minute button to reset capacitors.
Next step the unit only with the power adapter and press ESC at startup, and then choose F10 option.
If the problem persists perhaps your HARD drive may have problems, then test the device without a HARD drive.

My sisters notebook froze and she turned off the power switch, when she turned on the screen was black and a password box appeared when I entered the password, the XP loading bar came as usual and then I had two options at the bottom of the screen. We want to press F9 for and the other was to press F10 for BIOS Setup utility, after seconds, the screen went black and then appeared again the password and the circle continues. The laptop is only 1 week and I don't know if it's something she did or if it's a technical foul, I would be grateful if someone could help me or if I should take it to a technician. The laptop is a Compaq Mini 110 and it works on Windows XP Home Edition.
Hi, your sisters Notebook is under warranty and it could be a hardware problem.
As the laptop is only one week.
I suggest that advise you your sister back to the place where it has been sold since.

2430-101 stops at Toshiba-Logo (BIOS Setup/Boot-selection products deadloop)
Hello.
I have a serious problem with my Satellite 2430 101:
The system stops at the start after reaching the TOSHIBA Logo. Pressing F2/F12-key appears common waiting messages ("enter in BIOS-Setup" / "entering Boot Device selection Menu) "), but the system hangs and then upward in a deadloop (you can hear the fan turning after a few seconds). Restarting with Ctrl + Alt + Delete system works perfectly, but as soon as it happens
This is what happened before the last stop:
I simply restarted the system (OS: Novell/SUSE Linux 9.3 kernel 2.4.xxx) and usual stop messages appeared. Then there was strange messages, which resembles BIOS-output (I'm sure it's no message-Linux)-I remember only something about "Boot PXE" and that it was an error message. After waiting some time (about 15 minutes), I rebooted manually by pressing the power button.
I tried unplugging everything which has been connected to the system (including ModularBay devices) - without any result. I use the old BIOS 1.10 because there is no BIOS-update to the 2430-101 available in the downlads (maybe that was the problem). I also tried out the hard drive - even without a hard drive, the system displays the same behavior (if the hard drive is not the problem)...
I hope someone can help me with this, because I need my laptop for my work...
Thank you

Hi Rico,
Have you tried to boot in SafeMode (PF8)? This should at least help you in your system to check for any errors.
You can also try pressing them ESC when starting so that you can see the progress of the BIOS and the error messages.

Portege Z30 - cannot access the bios Setup
Hello
I can't enter BIOS setup when starting. Pressing on F2 allows me to enter the master password and HDD/SDD (confirmed validation), but the screen freezes at the "Toshiba configuration utility' graphics without any progress.
This problem began to appear quite suddenly, I enter the setup of BIOS several times before without any problem. The only change that's happened that I know is an event of disruption/recovery failed.
My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the start-up of hi-speed system. Can anyone confirm that? Is it possible to force it to boot normal start time? I'm using Linux, so I can't use the Windows of Toshiba Utilities.
> I'm using Linux, so I can't use the Windows of Toshiba Utilities.
That s bad:(dans le Toshiba HW Setup vous trouveriez un paramètre pour modifier l'option vitesse de démarrage.)> My suspicion is that the laptop is now in the start-up of hi-speed system. Can anyone confirm that?
Hmm in my opinion, if the start-up speed would be set to fast, you wouldn't be able to press F2 and enter the BIOS password. However, in other cases, if the startup mode is set to fast, you can enter the first INS key BIOS and press the F2 key
Give it a try.

To access the BIOS Setup on Pavilion G62 running Windows 7
I'm trying to fix a virus Malware white screen and in the process, I need to be able to start my laptop from the USB key. By pressing "ESC" annoys me to the Start Menu and which lists "BIOS Setup" as F10, but I can't scroll down to this option nor the fact by pressing F10 (or any other listed functions) get no response.
Am I being dumb here or the Trojan horse has disabled the ability to use the function keys. If the latter is there anything else I can try please?
Hi Malcolm,
It is always interesting to try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds. Plug the power adapter (leave the battery for now) and see if the keyboard responds.
Another option would be to connect a USB keyboard (if you have one available).
If there is no change, can you post back with the complete model number and the laptop Nr - see here for a guide to the location of such information.
Kind regards

How to install and configure an SSD 256 on my laptop HP ENVY 17-3290NR (3D)?
I'd appreciate some advice how to add an SSD 256 (Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256?) to my laptop HP ENVY 17-3290NR (3D). The laptop came standard with a 80 GB mSATA + 1 TB hard. I would use the SSD 256 as the stand drive and install the operating system and programs on this drive and store all the data of the 1 TB HD.
What should I do with the mSATA SSD 80 GB? Where should I install the SSD 256? HD slot-1 or slot-2? Thank you in advance for your help and instructions on how to proceed.
The current specifications: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC
- Name of the PC: HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC
- Product number:
(Personal information edited by moderator)
- Serial number:
(Personal information edited by moderator)
- Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
- Microprocessor: Intel (r) Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz
- Systems of memory: 16GB
- Map of systems: 1852 71.14
- System BIOS: F.0B
- Hard drive 1: INTEL SSDMAEMC080G2H
- C: 73.01 GB (6.31 GB free)
- F: 1.22 GB (0.62 GB free)
- Hard drive 2: WDC WD10JPVT-60A1YT0
- D: 911.37 GB (866,27 GB free)
- G: 20.14 GB (2.1 GB free)
It's interesting. Normally a bootmgr error message means that the bootloader is corrupted and hard disk not 'dead '... Replacing the hard drive is a quickie shotgun method to solve the problem.
Have you given up on the SSD?
The office (w/ASUS Crossfire V formula-Z mobo) I use this type, has the same SSD that you asked. I used the method that I described in the previous post to clone the OS for the SSD. The SSD is the startup disk.

Acer Aspire V3 - 772G - BIOS setup utility menus have disappeared
Acer Aspire V3 - 772G - BIOS setup utility menus have disappeared
I have install this laptop brand new, pre-installed with Windows 8.1 for my sister-in-law who bought it. The installation went well BUT the 16 GB USB device I bought such as advised by the literature of Acer to store the recovery partition was not large enough, 14.4 GB physical capacity. Acer the book says to use a 16 GB or more, so I did. I naively thought that a USB key which has been marked 16 GB would be appropriate. Not the case. I had to buy a bigger but am still waiting for delivery.
So I decided to any HARD drive to save the work I had done, but found only the Acronis Backup and Recovery DVD would not start the image. I went into the utility configuration and adjusted the start parameters to inherited and modified device priority. Acronis wouldn't so I did not continue. I went back into the configuration utility, use F9 to restore the default value and to my astonishment that the DUAL boot option was now gone and Windows startup option was also gone.
This means that £800 this laptop is now unusable. The installer standalone reconfigured without warning. Nowhere is there at - it advice or advice do not use the Setup utility when it erases the features that cannot be recovered by using F9 to restore the default configuration. If this isn't a serious design flaw, I don't know what is.
I am deeply worried because the idea of a BIOS setup utility behave in this way seems so unlikely that I wonder if anyone will believe me. How are the Setup utility has been designed to self-harm like this?
Your suggested action works! Thank you very much. You saved my life.

I hope someone can help me. I changed a few settings in the BIOS Setup, and now I have just a black screen. I changed the main boot to the DVD player device. is it possible to reset to original settings?
I am running Windows XPclint341,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum. We cannot guide you more precisely by changing the BIOS settings that the BIOS settings are specific to your motherboard. However, most (if not all) parameters of the BIOS have an option to restore the default BIOS (sometimes called "default opitimized"). It may be an option in the menu that you highlight, then press enter or it can be assigned to an F key and States at the bottom of the screen, press F? for the default settings. I hope this helps. If you are still not able to reset, check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the BIOS. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

I'm not a computer Wizard so I hope to give you the correct details.
The botton 'Start' on the left side is very used to activate the menu. However, I am not pressing the windows key on my keyboard or by clicking the button on the screen with my mouse. The problem is intermittent, but extremely frustrating, because when the menu pops up that I can not go on with my work. By clicking the button on the left on the desk with my mouse can temporarily solve the problem, BUT the menu appears again a few seconds later.
Sometimes when using any program or watching a dvd. Sometimes it stops for a while, but just at the point where I think that it has sorted itself, he returned.
I ran Windows Defender and a registry cleaner - I'm about to try AVG anti virus. If this does not work, I'll go out of my mind.
I hope there is a simple solution to this... Help, please!
I spoke with Neelabh Sinha Microsoft based in New Delhi. Several minutes of trashing the problem, we discussed the possibility of RF interference with my Microsoft wireless keyboard or mouse as a signal low resistance warning came a few times. I discovered that, even if I did not use the keyboard wireless at the time, he was placed in storage always batteries. Unknown to me, a book had fallen against the keyboard. Despite my my laptop in a downstairs room far away from the location of the keyboard, the receiver picked up stray signals from it. I was using a mouse without a wire with the receiver close to your computer and laptop was tested almost all the signal received from the keyboard. However, some of the signal got through and are in conflict with the orders that I was typing on the laptop. Standard keyboard strokes became orders of service and it is these conflicts which were manifested on the screen.
Thus, in the future, when you use don't not my wireless keyboard, I'll make sure that the batteries are taken to avoid a recurrence of my problem!
I appreciate the time taken by the Member of the community who responded to my question. I'm embarrassed that the cause was so stupid and banal, and yet he had such a profound effect.
Just to say that the keyboard and mouse Set wireless Microsoft performed more than adequately. Perhaps too well...! Top marks to Microsoft to make such a competent piece of kit that works even when separated by walls, a spread of two-story between transmitter and receiver.
All points must go to miss who thought that "outside the box" to identify the likely cause of my problem. Respect!

When starting, it not recognizing my DVD drive more. I went into the bios setup and it does not appear in there. I have to re - install the bios? or ....???
Hello
If the drive does not appear in the BIOS, there is a hardware problem - either with the player, wiring,
or the motherboard interface circuits.Check with a real computer store (the one that makes its own internal circuits and not of leeks and poster
