laptop screen does not open at startup

I have a hp pavilion g6. When I press the power button I hear cooler work, in the keyboard lights are normal, the hard disk is turned on but the screen is black, not clear at all. I got it to a technician and he told me that there is a problem with motherboard and bios (personally I don't think he had any idea what the problem was). He told me to send it to hp but I need as soon as possible. I tried to press the power button for 30 sec with no cable and the battery but nothing. There is also no sound from windows startup. I tried to connect with another screen, but also nothing. Please I need help fast.

Well, to me this looks like your motherboard as well.

Here is why I say that you are not able to access the bios menu, I hope you have tried several times to enter this menu. You also tried hook laptop up to a second monitor, normally if it just a screen and then issue you would still get an image on the screen.

Also if it was a problem with the graphics yet would you be able to access the bios menu, only the bios menu uses only the basic drivers needed.

This computer you will need to fix it so that the issue to be decided. If you are still currently covered by warranty I would recommend contacting HP support service. Their number is 800-474-6836.

Please answer as soon as possible.

Thank you

This may be a trial outcome disply to connect an external monitor to your laptop and see if you get display it.

You can connect to an external monitor via VGA or HDMI connection.  The usual process to transfer the video output to an external source is to press and hold the fn key and press f4.  Use the arrow keys to select "Projector" only and press ENTER.

  • Video work and laptop screen does not, but I know it's good.

I have a Latitude CPX I am recently used and it seems to work on an external monitor.  I know that the laptop screen/video cable is good because I put it in another CPX I have and it works fine.  I reconnect the video cable to the motherboard several times to be sure, and he did nothing.  I can see the backlight lights up weakly and finally color sort of purge on the screen.  What I don't understand is how the video a normal job and not the laptop screen?  I thought that if a video chip went bad it would work or not.  Any light you can do on the situation would be appreciated.

  • On my Satellite C660-174 desktop screen does not open properly

I'm a newbie here so my question is maybe obvious to some, but not for me!

My laptop Satellite C660-174 (running Windows 7) ceased to open correctly. Everything is normal until my password is entered. Rather than open up to my "desktop" with its icons all on the side I get a page with a banner "Toshiba Leading Innovation" through it and only four random icons on the side.

How to restore my desktop screen and all the icons?

    Help will be appreciated.

It's really not easy to understand what you see exactly.
Can you please take a picture and send a link where we can see it?

I really don't understand what could be the problem, but what you can try is to start your machine with F8 and enter advanced startup options. Choose the entry 'Repair your computer', then press 'Enter '. Go forward until you enter the system recovery options. Try to system restore to earlier date. Perhaps this will help you solve problem described.

    Hi dodger99,

    ·         The screen is completely blank with no message?

    ·         Have you tried booting in safe mode?

    Try the following.

Method 1: Try to select disable automatic system failure reboot from the advanced boot menu options to see if it helps.

    Method 2:

Step 1: Disconnect non-essential external devices and try to start last good known Configuration and see if you can start very well.

  • Recovery Options screen does not open

I support several times F8, I select repair your computer. It starts as usual and brings me to the screen of the user account that I click on the administrator account, nothing happens. Help, please!

    Hi Ashley1123,

What happens when you try to boot in normal mode?  Please provide the error full received message.  If the computer restarts automatically, restart your computer, press F8 , and then select disable automatic system failure reboot in the Advanced Start menu options.  Were there any change referred to the computer recently, such as hardware or software, including the Windows updates? You can use the System Restore, Safe Mode, to restore your computer to a previous working state.

  • InDesign 2015 HOME SCREEN will not open.

New InDesign CC (2015): WELCOME SCREEN does not open. Error message below is displayed when the program opens, from the home screen is set to open when the program opens. In addition, while in InDesign, if you manually open the home screen on the Help menu... same error. (Never seen that before; it did not with the 2014 version.)

This can be corrected? I don't want to just DISABLE the Welcome screen... I would like to SEE what is on the Welcome screen.

    Hi bilglas,

Can you confirm if the home screen works well in Illustrator CC 2015?

Since the 2015 CC Illustrator and InDesign CC 2015 use exactly the same CEPHtmlEngine.exe, it works in Illustrator, but not in InDesign, I suspect that some of its files are corrupt or missing. Could you please try this?

    -Uninstall InDesign CC 2015.

S ' there is all the remaining files in C:\Program Files\ADOBE\Adobe InDesign CC 2015, delete them.

    -Reinstall InDesign CC 2015.

  • Firefox does not open in full screen on the task bar and I have to go over it to see the web page.

Firefox does not open in full screen on the task bar and I have to go over it to see the web page.

Firefox window is sometimes "off screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt. You can delete this file and Firefox will return to standard window resizing.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the start search bar menu type or paste the following and press Enter to drill down to the profiles folder:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

Then, to re - light bars, you can use one of the following methods to view the list of the toolbar, and then select the desired bars it:

To activate the menu bar, toolbar bookmarks or other bars, click it in the list.
