  When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

  Try to get data from old floppy disks can be a nightmare.  For starters, the magnetic media is not particularly stable and the disk may simply have deteriorated.

  More likely, however, that you use in the problem of the "media descriptor block.

  There seems to be at least 3 solutions of workarounds for this problem:

  1. find a Win95 computer with a floppy drive and use it to read the data and transfer it to support more modern.

  2. use a disk sector editor as described in 140060 KB (which may or may not work, depending on whether your current disk can read the disc even if Windows allows it to try)

  Error code 24 characters long drive Self Test (DST) would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the startup problem you describe.

• Portege R100 laptop computer does not start after a while without food

  Well there is some time, I bought a beautiful used R100 - a laptop Toshiba in passing - but now, she has developed an annoying problem. Whenever it disconnect the laptop from the power supply for more than 2 hours about (don't know if this is not longer) I can't begin the R100, even if the battery indicator is green. After pressing the powerbutton the power led lights in green, and nothing happens. The "solution" to this problem is to give the R100 some time in this 'turned on' - State and after 15 minutes, I am able to start the computer (turn market again).

  I think that this could be a problem with a battery on the motherboard that is at its limits and needs time to gather enough power to start the computer.

  I hope you can help me identify the problem with my beloved laptop :)

  New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab.   Step 1: I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and check if the problem persists.

  1. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

  2. What is the brand and model of your computer?

  3. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?

  I understand that you are unable to start your Windows 7 system. To prevent your system from automatically restart, try to access the menu advanced startup options by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. Select the option disable automatic error system reboot. Also, I suggest you try the following steps of diagnostics to verify if you are able to reach the office in one of the following modes methodical.

  Method 1:

  Please follow the underlying steps:

  Step 1. Disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse.

  Step 2 I would like to start your computer in last known good configuration.

  If method 1 does not work, go to method 2.

  Method 2:

  Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.
  Start your computer in safe mode

  Step 2: If the system works fine in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

  Note: See "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as usual after a repair.

  If method 2 does not work, go to method 3.

  Method 3:

  As you cannot start your computer at all, I suggest to run a Startup Repair to repair the damaged boot system files and try to boot into normal mode. See the section: How to use Startup Repair in the following link.

  If this does not help, try to boot from a disc to install Windows 7 on the Windows recovery environment mode and then try to run the Startup Repair tool and check if you are able to start normally.

  You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the recovery Windows (WINRE) environment to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

  • A master boot record (MBR)

  • A boot sector

Note: When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the problem, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe

  I just reinstalled the operating system a few days back. But yesterday it did not open. Just a white screen came. So I restarted once. The problem was not resolved. So I restarted once more.   Immediately after the power at startup by pressing the ESC key. This should open a menu with the F2 system optionally Diagnostics. Press F2 to run diagnostics.

• HP 620 laptop computer does not have bootable CD or HD.

  My HP 620 laptop boot no HD or CD, I tried to do a reinstall. I started to the reinstall and he asked me a driver clear any leave but only gave me an option to navigate. I get the error message of the 620 HP no matter what CD, I put in 'non-system disk '. I have reset the BIOS to default and I tried the CD win7 and it started, but I would have done the MS DOS to clear to leave them. No idea what to try next? I try everything. I'm running the Sanitizer on disc from the start menu now the I'll reset the BIOS again and try the MS BACK CD? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  Problem is solved. I had to run the menu boot disk Sanitizer a do a clean install. I was counting on far to give the laptop so data loss everything was fine. Has taken some time, but everything is in place and works very well.

  I have a hp pavilion g6. When I press the power button I hear cooler work, in the keyboard lights are normal, the hard disk is turned on but the screen is black, not clear at all. I got it to a technician and he told me that there is a problem with motherboard and bios (personally I don't think he had any idea what the problem was). He told me to send it to hp but I need as soon as possible. I tried to press the power button for 30 sec with no cable and the battery but nothing. There is also no sound from windows startup. I tried to connect with another screen, but also nothing. Please I need help fast.

  Well, to me this looks like your motherboard as well.

  Here is why I say that you are not able to access the bios menu, I hope you have tried several times to enter this menu. You also tried hook laptop up to a second monitor, normally if it just a screen and then issue you would still get an image on the screen.

  Also if it was a problem with the graphics yet would you be able to access the bios menu, only the bios menu uses only the basic drivers needed.

  This computer you will need to fix it so that the issue to be decided. If you are still currently covered by warranty I would recommend contacting HP support service. Their number is 800-474-6836.
