  • Has lost all contact with BEFSR41 router via network

    Hello

    in this thread: -.

    http://homecommunity.Cisco.com/T5/wired-routers/BEFSR41-v3-activating-UPnP/m-p/101243/highlight/true...

posters describe the problem that the original password is damaged if UPnP is enabled.  A poster gives the password which is replaced in an arbitrary manner, but when I tried (after having the same problem), I couldn't make it work and he had to restore factory settings and repeat the configuration from scratch.

Now, for some reason, I can't do it yet!  "admin/admin" is no longer accepted, and if instead, I try to open the configuration using the Wizard installation CD I get an error message saying "unable to connect...". "and tells me to press the"reset"button (which of course I did, nothing helped).  However, ping the router produces an immediate response with success and my internet access is as before.

Please, what can I do to get out of this endless loop?  There are some configuration changes, I need to do and I can't!

If your router works fine then you don't need a re-flashing the firmware on your router.

As far as disable UPnP is concerned, maybe it's a bug in the firmware.

  • With BEFSR41 VPN woes

Recently, my employers (who must remain anonymous for reasons of my future employment :-)) 'modernized' their VPN.) The previous version was based on remote access to Microsoft - I think that this one is as well - but it's been well inside brand. After the upgrade, I can no longer connect VPN through my BEFSR41. All I can read the chimps trained on IT support is

The following ports must be open on your ISP, router and firewall to create a VPN connection.

    L2TP: 1701 TPC Port
IPSEC: The port UDP 4500 (NAT - T)
    Port UDP 500 (isakmp) ~.
Protocol IP 50 (Encap Security Payload)
    Protocol IP 51 (Authentication Header)
The IP 47 GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) Protocol

Although the previous incarnations nothing would be changed I did conscientiously ensure that port forwarding has been enabled for these 3 appointed ports (and 1723 for pptp). No change. The 2.4 - complete default reset firmware update. No change. Put the laptop computer IP address in the DMZ. No change. Trace the connection via wireshark and it constantly does not receive the Change Cipher Spec and requests for recall that followed - but I don't see anything obviously wrong before that. Of course I can't be given the Protocol so I can't be sure that my reverse-engineering is correct. If I leave the linksys out of the loop and connect directly to the cable modem I get a link - and a family whining about no internet :-).

If anyone has any ideas on what Miss me, I would be very grateful.

You said: if I leave the linksys out of the loop and connect directly to the cable modem I get a link - and a family whining about no internet :-).

Do you mean that you have no problems to connect to your virtual private network when you connect your laptop directly to the modem? If SO, make sure you give the static IP address on your laptop that is not in the range your Port Forwarding router DHCP...

    Try this McKieus

I had exactly the same problems that you described with technical support. I found this link in a post by Basiltoo on 12/15/2008. It worked for me. Previously, I had the x 86 machine error when loading the software upgrade. I have a 64 bit system. There are still a few problems with some of the options, but most of the time it works.  The link is http://update.linksys.com/autoupdate/

I also uninstalled LELA however add remove programs and restarted before I installed the new version. On the new version, he has a place where it asks if you have a 64 bit system. If you choose the download you receive will be correct and you should not get the 'x 86' mistake.'

He seems also to stop correctly in this new version.

    Good luck.

    It worked for me.

  • Linksys BEFSR41 connection with modem router getting not real internet ip

Hello, can someone help with this problem. I connected to a modem router linksys BEFSR41 router. But when I watched the status in linksys BEFSR41 router, it gives only an IP from the modem router and no real internet ip address.

can someone give me an answer.

    Thanks in advance.

Don't string two routers. Fill the modem/router or don't use the BEF as a router, but only as a simple switch (or replace it with a standard ethernet switch).

  • Configure BEFSR41 V.2.1. to use as switch with ADSL ZTE Modem in Bridged mode

I found a thread of 2009 who has a link that could help me with this configuration, but the link does not work.

I have a Linksys BEFSR41 V.2.1 and need to set it up, so I can use it as a switch with our ZTE 831 ADSL Modem, which is in bridged Mode.

The IP address of the BEFSR41 changed to avoid a conflict with the address IP of Modem ZTE ADSL, which is 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1.

If the PC is connected directly to the ZTE ADSL Modem, I can access the Internet and I can access the Menu of Configuration of Modem ZTE.

If the PC is directly connected to the Linksys BEFSR41, I can access the Menu of Configuration Linksys.

If the PC is connected to the Linksys BEFSR41, and which is connected to the ZTE ADSL Modem, I can't access the Internet, and I cannot Ping the ZTE ADSL Modem.

Please give me a URL that indicates how the Linksys BEFSR41 should be configured to use as a switch with my ADSL Modem from ZTE in bridged Mode.

My belief is that after I have the Linksys set up, I then plug the ZTE ADSL modem in the Linksys unit and use it to DHCP.

DRM for your time and help! Lanny

    1. I never told of any change on the Advanced Routing page.

2 do not connect the internet port for ZTE with this kind of configuration. You cannot use the internet port.

    3. Once you set that you can use the remaining LAN for ethernet devices ports in your local network.

  • Problems with the new modem DSL and Linksys BEFSR41

My Speedstream modem died and I had to buy a new modem.  At this time of year, it is difficult to find exactly what I wanted and I ended up buying a D-Link DSL - 2320-B.  I got the Linksys BEFSR41 (old version 1, I think) for years and it has always worked well.  I have problems to get an internet connection through the router.  With the modem connected directly to the network card, as now I have no connectivity problem.  I had to change the IP address on the Linksys BEFSR41 192.168.2.1, as the modem is 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 as the old Speedstream.  I couldn't see a way to change the IP Address of the new D-Link.  I have my ICS TCP/IP set to auto obtain IP and DNS.  I was previously created for a fixed IP of * provided by the router.  Even with the setting on the router to "Obtain an IP address automatically", I can't to the internet with the router in the middle.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Your modem is a combination of the modem and the router. The problem occurs when you try to connect another router behind this configuration and end up having 2 servers dhcp and nat 2 (for port forwarding and other issues, creating in some cases where even branded products use ip addresses will clash and devices will not connect at all when him are interconnected).

To avoid the situation described above, it is recommended that you enable the full Bridge mode on the modem / router that you currently connected to the internet and let your new wireless router controls all the functions within your local network and the internet connection (you must enter all the details in the new router, including Internet service provider username and password).

  • Strict NAT with a BEFSR41 router

So I play frequently on my xbox 360 and I like to browse my computer when I'm waiting for a match. With my old router, same brand and model, all I had to do was do port forwarding with the ports recommended on xbox.com and enable upnp and I had no problems to connect to games, joining friend games or assembling them mine.

So when I got my replacement router I have activated the same options as before but kept getting the strict NAT message when I start a game and none of my friends could join my game and I couldn't join them. So I enabled the DMZ and clone the MAC address of xbox 360. He got rid of the NAT strict message but I noticed a significant drop in the speed of the internet, yet none of my friend could join my game and I couldn't reach them.

So I had to unplug the router and connect the xbox directly on the modem I have while waiting for the replacement router and I could do all the things as before. So it leads me to believe that there is a problem with the router. I have a linksys BEFSR41 v. 4.3 router and modem motorola with a DSL connection.

Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you are right that if the modem acts as a router, it should be filled if you want to connect to another router... If your modem is full you will not get the internet light on your modem (it will remain off)...

Once you configure the modem in Bridge mode full you must configure the type of internet connection of your router in PPPoE and enter the correct user name and password provided by your Internet Service Providor (ISP)... Once done, click on save settings...

Click the status tab and search for an IP address, if you get 0.0.0.0 for the IP address click on the Connect button and weait... Power Cycle your modem and your roputer for a minute and see if you can go online... Once you are online, you can make the settings as shown in the previous post for your X - Box and it should connect...

  • BEFSR41 v4.2 with AT & T DSL & PPPoE Config - help!

I'm about to set up my first DSL connection, which will use PPPoE and a Motorola 2210 DSL modem provided by my ISP, AT & T. The DSL modem stores the user ID and the password. After I get the DSL up (which I think I can handle via a manual installation rather than installing the software provided by AT & T), I will install a router BEFSR41 v4.2 for my new home network. The v4 manual says that I also need to enter the ID and password for PPPoE supports as well as a service name. If the modem is to store the password, why do I also need to put them in the router config. ? In addition, the v4 manual says I need to enter a "service name", which I do not think that I know and do not know what it is supposed to look like. I think I can handle the rest of the router config, but will also enjoy a lot of tips or tricks with this particulare configuration. Thank you!

My DSL and home network are up and works fine. After I discovered that the Motorola 2210 is a gateway and not just a DSL modem, I knew better what I was dealing with. I used the simplest option, which was to implement the BEFSR41 for DHCP and PPPoE about the 2210, changing the router IP address to 192.168.0.1. I discovered that I had to use the AT & T software furnished to completely configure the service - manual install only did part. After that I got DSL service set up, I moved my connection PC Ethernet back to the BEFSR41 and 2210 to the router cable. Worked like a charm!

  • With the help of WAP54G connected to BEFSR41

I have a desktop connected to my BEFSR41 Vista Home Edition. My WAP54G is also connected to the BEFSR41, providing access for two portable Vista Home Edition. All machines have Internet access. The problem is that portable computers cannot access the desktop computer to add desktop for printing printers remotely or map drives. All the machines see through the Vista Network Center link and sharing 'To see the entire map' (which is pretty cool).

Via ping, the desktop machine can see TWO laptops, by name AND IP address (as well as the WAP54G and BEFSR41).

However, through ping, portable computers cannot see the office by either its IP address or name. Returns the ping by name: request Ping could not find office-host. Please check the name and try again. Laptops see the router & wireless access point.

I'm at my wit's end, I tried EVERYTHING imaginable to make it work, but I obviously missed something because it's basic network functionality. The wrinkle is that I recently replaced my BEFSR41 v2 with v4.3. There is either a parameter that is not correct or Linksys omitted a very important element features between versions. The v2 enabled it works without problem.

    Help!

    Joe

GV & brickmonkey - you were both correct. The Norton 360 firewall was the culprit! I do not understand why it worked with the previous version of the BEFSR41, because I have never changed this setting since installing Norton firewall.

Let me know if you're ever in Nashville - margaritas are on me!

  • My problem with the BEFSR41 & Type of NAT Strict

This has probably been discussed so many times, but I am at my wits end. I have tried almost everything on the web on how to get a NAT for this router and nothing has worked. I try to get an open NAT to connect and join some games that host friends on the LIVE service. There are, I could join their games without a problem. Now, for about 3 months now, I can not join their sessions. She'll tell me that they are reachable, then tell me that the sessions are no longer available if I'm trying to reach. Cannot join their parties either. Strange thing is that, after a while I'll be randomly able to reach just 1 of their lobbies and hear only that person. I'm starting to think that I will always have this question. I changed a lot of things in the router I just reset it to the factory and compatible UPnP settings. Is that what I can do to fix this? I am desperate at this point. Sounds stupid, but it really gets to me. I can't understand for the life of me why I can't change.

EDIT: I should probably say that the problem is with an Xbox 360. The network settings are now automatic, as manual did not help either.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hear what you all have to say.

    David.

You can follow this link and it will help you set up a static IP address on the XBOX.

  • BEFSR41 v.3 works do not with my DSL

    Hi all!

Here's my problem: I have a CenturyLink DSL connection in my house and his works fine. I just got a new Linksys BEFSR41 v.3. I'm setting up for my PC, Xbox360 and BD player. Everything works fine when I plug them into the DSL modem 1 by 1 but when I try to put the Linksys 'in the middle'... nothing... So I'm sure that this isn't my DSL modem or connection.

All the lights lights Linksys as they should (power supply, ethernet and the internet), but for some reason any, it seems not to get trought the internet router. When its connected and I pull up my internet browser I type 192.168.1.1 and it takes me on the linksys config site. Without the router at the same address, go to the Westell website because it is my DSL modem. Everything looks good on the site config. All the IP address, MAC, DNS address are there and still no internet access on any of my camera.

I tried every possible settings I can find on the net.

Thank you and sorry for my bad English

    Solved thanks

In the Linksys config page, I changed the IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1 and everything works fine now

    Thanks again

  • Please help me with my BEFSR41 v 4.3

I have had this router for over 2 years with no problems.  Then had to replace my computer and shit has hit the fan.  I called tech support and they want to give me money for their help.  So now here I am hoping someone can help me.  I followed the guide step by step in I came across an obstacle.  I reset my router and I entered the program installation and click on MAC address Clone.  Then I clicked on the status tab and my IP address is always zero.  The instructions said if this is the case click on the version of IP address and renew the IP address.

Well, that's where I'm having problems.  Rather than see the IP address to release and renew, theres 2 icons that shows DHCP release and renewal.  Please can someone explain what I need to do?  Thank you

"Liberation of IP address" = "DHCP release.
"Renew IP address" = "renewing DHCP.
