  The first thing I would say is to restart your iPhone.  Then tap general > storage & use of iCloud.  In the iCloud section, the amount of 'Storage' has changed?

• ESX 4 Local Storage Name Changed - can't change back

  Recently, I move my VMware farm.  When I got to the top, one of local storage devices came back as "Local (1).  I've never had one (1) about this before and now all VMS are orphans.  When I try to change the name back to just 'Local', he says that there is already, which it is not.  Somehow, VMware has become confused!

  Anyone knows how I can bring the 'Local' and the virtual machine without having to remove and re-add?  There are some VM who really "may not be moved" because of a restriction of the application.

  as you mentioned several blades, I assume you are also using vCenter Server.

  How have you tried to rename the data store, by connecting to vCenter Server or directly on the affected ESX Server?

  Maybe the vCenter DB contains an entry in database 'outdated' that block any operation rename.

  I saw similar problems when I tried to rename a data store, while it is directly connected to an ESX Server, which was managed by a vCenter server.

  I managed to rename the data store, but more or less immediately after it was renamed from the original name.

  So if possible, I would

  • disconnect/remove this host ESX to vCenter
  • connect the vSphere Client directly to the ESX Server
  • new attempt by renaming the local data store
  • Check the changes are permanent/accepted
  • Reconnect/add a return to vCenter ESX host

• Storage - 5 ESX &amp; HP Blade Storage expansion

  Current context:

  • Runing ESX 5 HP BL460 Blade Server standard
  • HP D2200sb PCIe Storage Blade consists of 6 146 GB drives & 6 empty bays
  • 5 virtual machines exist on a single data store

  Requirements:

  • Repalce the 6 146 GB hard drive with 12 300 GB hard drive and store the virtual machine.

  This will work:

  1. Insert 6 300 GB HDD in for storage of balde
  2. Create a new table
  3. Present this as a data store
  4. migrate the virtual machine to the new store using storage vmotion
  5. remove the old store of 146 GB
  6. Remove the disks from 146 GB of storage blade
  7. Add more 6 HDD for storage balde
  8. Add to the existing array consisting of 6 300 GB drives
  9. Range of Vsphere
  10. create additional data warehouses

• Precautions of vmotion esx 3.5 to esx 4.0 storage

  Hi I have two clusters in my vmware environment. a cluster is runinng with esx 3.5 update 4 and another runing with esx 4.0 which is newly built cluster.

  all LUNS are visible on two clusters when we machine cluster of 3.5 to 4.0 cluster migration. We will do so by storage vmotion as we have some 6 to new storage in the new cluster.

  Please tell me what precautions it takes when we vmtion 500 GB virtual storage machine cluster of 3.5 to 4.0 cluster.

  We have almost 10 linux machine to migrate on the new cluster.

  Please suggest me.

  If this machine is not RDM, you can first make a Vmotion and run in ESX4 host, after that you can make sVmotion in the new host.

  Upgrade hardware version 7 is not a must, so you can do this when you will be able to stop your machine prod.

  I use ESXi to run a few rarely used VMs.  ESXi is running a server with internal storage.  ESXi having no backup capabilities, I would install another ESXi server and to keep the two synchronized in the case where the primary server goes down.

  First of all, is it possible with ESXi?  Or do I need to buy an ESX license for two servers and also buy and use VMotion to keep synchronized?

  Second, what is the maximum RAM ESXi or ESX 3.5 will support?

  I use ESXi to run a few rarely used VMs.  ESXi is running a server with internal storage.  ESXi having no backup capabilities, I would install another ESXi server and to keep the two synchronized in the case where the primary server goes down.

  ESXi backup can be performed using the latest version of Veeam Backup. So, that exists now.

  First of all, is it possible with ESXi?  Or do I need to buy an ESX license for two servers and also buy and use VMotion to keep synchronized?

  You could look at VM level replication (Doubletake, etc.). VMDK (vReplicator, Veeam Backup) level replication. Or watch in Xtravirt XVS or HP Lefthand Networks VSA as alternatives.  These last two options will synchronize local storage between multiple hosts. XVS is limited to 2 guests and 1 handles LUN but VSA more. XVS is also free.

• Combine the output of Script of ESX, VM, network, storage, and output in Excel

  I have 6 scripts (written by Luke and Robert) who are used to extract information of the box of ESX as shown below. I want to combine the scripts into a single and output in excel. I have a csv file with names of servers esx in it. The combined script should take the entry of the name of the csv esx server and run these scripts and export information to an excel spreadsheet. I need a workbook with each server esx excel as a table in it.

  ESX - report.ps1-> extract info from esx host

  VM - report.ps1-> extract info VM

  Teddy - report.ps1-> extract info ESX physical network adapter

  PortGroup - report.ps1-> extract portgroup info

  scsiHBA - report.ps1-> extract info SCSI & HBA

  Report.ps1-> info report data store retrieves data store

  Firewall - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

  Time servers - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

  DNSserver - report.ps1-> need to be written (gave joint excel spreadsheet format)

  I have attached the format of the expected output excel workbook and scripts.

  There was a bug in the script, the Get-View in the teddy bear (report 3) and the portgroup (report 4) not took into account that the mode of VIServer ran in "multi".

  Which should be fixed in the new version attached.

  The new version also includes the name of ESX for the reports, 7, 8 and 9.

  You are on the right track and we have created LUN between 400 and 600GB and limited to 10-15 virtual machines by storage and it depends on what size your guest drives consumption but limited to 15 helps reduce conflicts reservation iSCSI & disk i/o. I create a nice clean windows 2003 R2 and load all the antivirus agents, applications, nicely and convert them to model. Deploy new virtual machines of model and create additional vmdk on top using existing LUNS available. For file and database servers, we use RDM for the slight performance differences but the lack of flexibility of VMFS for you can choose between. I would use however VMFS anytime now for any purpose. I would create LUNS for databases, the logs files and operating systems if you can manage. Curve your LUNS with appropriate RAID 5, 10 and usually 10 is ideal for the basic data but lost 50% overhead charge in disk space and it should be good for OLTP and the rest of the applications can work very well with RAID 5.

  I have a virtual machine on a 1 TB drive, I configured 750Go, however my vm was interrupted with an error - not enough space, I can't make instant etc..

  How is that possible? I'm not an expert vmware ;-)

  The output of the status of the disk space is caused by the virtual machine running on a snapshot. This snapshot has already passed to close 180 GB.

  What I would say is to backup the virtual computer (power off) and then remove the snapshot from the "Snapshot Manager". Due to the size of the snapshot, this could take a while, so please be patient.

• ESX host think client has connected CD but doesn't have a customer?

  I had a VM I want to storage vmotion, but I get unable to act thus think the ESX host that a client has connected CD/DVD. No one has any console open to it.

  Vmotion message is:

  Virtual machine is configured to use a device that prevents operation: device "CD / DVD Drive 1" is a device connected with remote support [/ quote] "."

  When I go to change the settings for this virtual machine, it says under the CD/DVD Drive 1 that it is connected to another customer. Not called Vmware support, they have got no idea, tried to restart pass and vpxa, but neither helped either.

  Someone has any idea how to solve this problem, without power down?

  If the CD is connected to the client device connection persists until it is manually disconnected or connected person CD closed session (vSphere Client). Even if the VM Console is closed connection persists.

• No storage has left my iPhone 6 even if I deleted a lot

  Make sure that the deleted photos are not only in your recently deleted album. Go to the Albums > album recently deleted, press Select, select photos and press DELETE. If that isn't free storage, you may need to back up and restore the device.
