Libretto 110CT: reloading Windows hard disk

The hard drive on my 110CT Libretto was erased, Amacom CD Rom drive is no longer recognized, so not able to reload Toshiba Windows 98.
Appreciate any advice
Mike

Hello

As far as I know on the download from Toshiba site you can download the floppy start-up but just for Toshiba and Freecom. Unfortunately, if you use another drive you do one with driver for your Amacom player on it. Only in this way you will be able to install it.

Otherwise, you can visit Toshiba service partner and ask them if they can install it for you. I'm sure he can't cost a lot of money. They have Toshiba external hard drive.

Finally, I must say you n don't need to buy a new laptop just because your HARD drive starts to hurt work in such cases purchase a new HARD drive and replace it

  • Windows hard disk error message

I just got a strange error message that popped up while I was surfing around Facebook.  Before you do anything, I want to be sure that it is legitimate and not somebody trying to make me install a virus or something like that.  And if it is legitimate, I want to know what I would do to this topic.

    The error message says:

"Windows has detected a hard disk problem.

Back up your files immediately to prevent loss of information, and then ask the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or replace the disk. »

Then it gives me two options:

    "Start the backup process."

    "Ask me later".

If the drive fails before the following caveat, you may lose all the programs and documents on the disk. »

So, if I click on the button "Show invisible characters", he says:

    "For immediate action."

Because a disk failure will make you lose all programs, files and documents on the disk, you should back up your important information immediately.  Try not to use your computer until you have repaired or replaced the hard drive.

    Which drive is a failure?

The following hard disks are fault condition:

  • Serious teething problems (problems of ubuntu-windows, hard disk problems boot loader)

I have a laptop ASUS K50IN with recovery partition windows preinstalled on the hard disk (Windows 7, Home Premium edition, 64 - bit).

I formatted the entire hard drive with Lubuntu installation dvd, I used Lubuntu, for a few weeks with success.
(I used a removable drive for installation.)
After that, I wanted to do a dual-boot system (windows-ubuntu).
I deleted the windows install Summary Lubuntu with recovery partition, so I downloaded a version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit and burned to dvd (I have my product key from the back of the machine). Downloaded from: msft.digitalrivercontent.net.
I deleted the partitions lubuntu until windows install with windows dvd, made a partition for windows (with the 100 MB system reserved required),
and began the installation process which took place successfully, but it failed to restart after the installation. As much as I remember came problems.
I had a few bad boots, but I managed to run the new windows 7, made some configurations, programs installed on it. I always have problems with reboots. (It was stable when I have manged to get into windows itself.)
I searched the net and found that ubuntu uses grab as boot loader, and it isn't getting deleted with the simple formatting even with a windows installation.
I tried to repair the boot loader of windows to the Master Boot Record by running the command from the windows installation disk prompt (many tries to start).
    I tried these commands unsuccessfully:
    /fixmbr Bootrec.exe,
    /FixBoot Bootrec.exe,
    /RebuildBcd Bootrec.exe,

(by the way these commands responded succession of repair)

    Bootsect/nt60 SYS/MBR,
list not found no operating system compatible hits.

(Auto repair could not fix problem.)

Then I used DBAN to completely wipe my drive.
I used the values in interactive mode (PRNG:mersenne twister, method: DoD short, collar to check: last).
Ran for 9 hours, crushed 3 times, has completed successfully without errors.
I read that it removes the MBR sector too.
I tried to start the windows installation disc, and it shut my computer when it arrives at the end of the second bar with "WINDOWS IS LOADING of FILES.
Same problem with the installation of ubuntu dvd.

Same problem with the DBAN disk.

Same problem when booting from the hard drive.

Keeps turning itself off in unpredictable ways. Sometimes, I managed to get in installation disc menus, then comes the turn off.

Above all it stops early in the boot process.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion x 10 2-n100ns, which has a record of 32 GB mem and a 500 GB SATA hard drive.

It came with 10 Windows Home 64 bit preinstalled on the 32 GB drive.

When the update of the anniversary 10 Windows was available for installation, it started, but could not say that it does not have enough space.

How can first question - I install the update? Is this possible?

Second question - I would like to install and run Windows 10 since the SATA drive.

I made a disk image MEM can I restore to factory if necessary.

When I run Windows 10 Setup from a Setup USB key and select clean install, I have the option of disk to install to and I can see SATA and MEM.

I deleted the partition on the SATA drive, which now appears as unallocated space.

However, the installation cannot continue on the SATA drive I get the following message is displayed: -.

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port. »

How can I install (and run) 10 Windows on the SATA drive?

    Thank you

The 10 from the USB windows installation was successful.

All existing partitions have been deleted from the mem 32 GB drive and the installation program has been authorized to create new partitions for recovery etc..

I now have 10 with the anniversary update installed and running windows...

  • Windows hard disk recommended Dimensions?

    Hello

Long story short, a couple of our Windows virtual machines run lack of space on the C:\ drive.  To avoid this problem in the future, is there a recommended size for hard data Windows?  FYI the VMs in trouble have a 40 GB hard drive, perhaps something close to 60 GB would be a better fit?  I am considering getting new virtual machines have a C:\ strictly for Windows drive and a separate hard drive for the 'data '.  That's probably what I should have done from the first day.

This raises another question, is it possible to increase the size of a disk Windows C:\ with VMware?  Or are you a bit stuck with this size?

Accoring to extpart documentation , it is supposed to be used on basic disks. I have not tried it on a dynamic disk and wouldn't recommend it.  Attach the drive to a different approach of diskpart VM and use would be probably preferred with a dynamic disk - that or use gparted to do.

I do all the Windows boot volumes basic disks and have not ran across a reason yet to justify / require the use of a dynamic disk of OS.  I would avoid dynamic disks for the OS volume, simply to be able to use extpart on them.  It is quick and easy and requires no downtime for expansion.

Unless you're something like replication or very precise specifications of performance, I find that it is usually best to leave the volumes to the OS and data (vmdk) in a single folder.  If performance or other reasons come into play, you can always separate them later, with other options or Storage vMotion.

The idea here is to keep things simple, so I use Basic for the volumes to the OS disks and keep them in the same folder/data store.

    Hello

To reinstall Vista using the recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

To reinstall from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you change the Boot order and follow this information:

How can I do or what number to call to get reloaded Vista.  I have two computers even.  HP Pavilion a6300f.  Both are about 2 years old and all original.  In November 2009, the motherboard on one of two computers went wrong.  In December, the other motherboard has gone bad.  I bought a new motherboard for the first and reloaded all the original hard disk, fan, CPU etc. etc.  Tried to use the OEM recovery disk, but he would not allow it.  I would like to be able to challenge the two machines, re - install windows vista and then move to W7 to correspond with my new computer... but I can't get Vista to recharge.

It's nothing to do with Microsoft.

    You use HP recovery media.

You will need to contact them about problems with their recovery media.

You have changed the motherboard and their OEM recovery disks include drivers for the motherboard of origin for your model computers.

In order to install the Windows 7 upgrade version, you must have a system of eligible operating Windows installed and activated.  You cannot install a version upgrade of Windows 7 on a drive blank.  The installation procedure you do not insert a Windows disk in the drive for verification, eligible operating system must be installed.

If you do not have a qualification system of operating Windows installed with an activated genuine license, then you can not use the version upgrade of Windows 7 - you would need a license of Windows 7 "full version".

    In summary:

    1. a Windows operating system to eligible address must be installed.
    2. the Windows operating system to eligible address must have a genuine license (product key) and it must be enabled.
    3. to upgrade, boot on the eligible Windows desktop, insert the Windows 7 upgrade disc in the DVD player.
    4. when the menu appears, select custom (advanced option) to a clean install procedure.

You should be able to repair the installation, if your installation one fall. I suggest create you a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to spare you the trouble if your computer one fall in the future.

You can work around this two ways, I would suggest that you create a System Image (backup) of your installation of Windows 7 after installation of Windows 7 in order to save you the trouble if your computer loses the system failure or instability. Since you are in possession of a valid license of Windows Vista for this computer, you can use the following method to do a clean install with upgrade support:
    http://www.winsupersite.com/Win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp

You can then re-enable by phone:

    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person.

  • Location of the bookmarks on an old hardrive that is not Windows, running but the old hard disk files are accessed through another hard drive.

The old hard disk does not run Windows, so access to the usual file through Windows Explorer or Firefox has not worked for me. The old hard drive is now a slave drive and all files are intact and accessible via the new Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

You have Windows configured to display the hidden files and folders? If not, do it as soon as the first. http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=Windows-7

Then, what version of Windows do you have on the old drive? Your profile folder must be on the way there:

    Windows XP and earlier versions:

    \Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

    Windows Vista and later:

    \Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

If you find multiple profile folders, see the recent order. You find a subfolder named bookmarkbackups. This article describes how to restore the .json files, you will find: restore bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer.

  • Problem with external HARD disk - cannot mount the mac partition and can't unmount the partition windows

    Hi all

Need your help. I have problems with my external hard drive. I worked on it yesterday when the cable is a little detached and disassembled my intestinal HARD drive.

    Here are the specs:

1 Macbook Air 11.5 "running on El Capitan (10.11.1)

2 Buffalo Ministation external (1 TB) HARD disk divided into two: a Mac partition (for time machine) and the other a windows on FAT32 partition.

Before the accident yesterday, it was working OK.

Now, when I connect the HARD drive, it turns on but the Mac partition cannot be mounted (it does not appear on the Finder. I opened disk utility... just load forever and does not work) and the Windows partition is visible... but I can't take it apart without turning my computer.

I can assemble and disassemble a USB stick very well.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Maybe you can explain a little better.

I would like to make some general comments before having your replay.

It is not wise to use TM on a disk with apple unformatted or partitions, it is preferable to have a dedicated TM drive also.

For TM, the rule is that the drive is about 3 times the size of the boot disk.

Normally you 'survive' a good step disassemble the drive external, but in this case with a another partition formatted on this subject, I'm not sure if that do not corrupt the disk, especially since the Windows partition is bootable. I have suspct the partition GUID on the TM partition table is corrupt.

I propose to start the disk completely: in DiskUtility select the 'higher' level (name of manufacturer) and the Partition, one OS X Extended (journaled) partition table Partition GUID. And use it only for TM, is not too big for this.

Have another drive formatted NTFS for Windows.
