License transfer window to Apple

I bought a license for Photoshop CS4 Windows on February 18, 2010. This machine crashed and has been recently replaced with an iMac. How can I download and transfer my license on the new machine, Apple (different platform), I still edit images in CS4?

You can switch only CS6 platforms. CC allows you to use either. You are out of luck with CS4:

  • License transfer Windows 7 Ultimate from old machine again.

I am a IT consultant and in this crazy business for nearly 30 years. I currently have three computers, two desktops and a laptop. I bought the laptop and the old office of Acer with Vista Ultimate. In the meantime, I've updated for Windows 7 Ultimate. I recently bought a new computer from Dell with Win 7 Home Premium desktop and my two primary readers left the old office of Acer and get in the original drive that has Vista Ultimate on it. Therefore, I do not use the license for Win 7 ultimate I bought. I want to improve the Win 7 Home Premium to Ultimate on the new office.

I can't count the licenses of OS I bought Microsoft directly or indirectly over the years, and I don't want to pay for another unnecessarily. Can I use the existing license upgrade on the new Dell?

"GreyH" wrote in message News: 0d2381ed-0ba1-4221-9132-2e2f05104dee...

Thank you all for the quick responses. Now all I have to do is to identify which license I have on my laptop and that one was on the old desktop computer. Is there a way to match a license with a machine?

    Thanks again.

Use Belarc Advisor - it'll show all licenses MS installed on the machine, as well as several other useful bits of data :)

You can reinstall and transfer your Windows FPP retail as many times as you like - there is no limit.

However, there is a limit to how many times you can use the online activation. After awhile, you will need to use the phone activation when reinstalling.

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own qualification license XP/Vista/7). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • Transfer of license of Windows 8 on another computer

Can I transfer a valid purchased license of Windows 8 on a computer, that I do not use one that I use?

I bought two upgrades Windows (in Windows 7) license under the terms of a special offer, but only found out later (and after the expiry of the offer) that the second purchase didn't pass, and so I don't have an activation key valid. At that time I had already used the key on computer A and did not for the computer, that computer B. b is the one I want to use regularly, leaving unused computer, so glad I remove Windows 8A computer in order to use the license on the computer B.

I think I have to activate Windows on computer B over the phone and remove the license from the computer activation front on computer B. How do I practice? Does this mean that boot from a Windows CD, reformatting and abandonment of any attempt to install the operating system on CD (so that the reader will be absolutely empty)? I note the license key or any other information of the computer has ('on' screen or elsewhere) before doing this? (I'm not talking about back up my data here).

The computer is now installed on is preinstalled with Windows 7, all you have to do is use the recovery partition to restore the Windows 7 computer then go forward to reinstall it on the other computer.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press F8 on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

If you had installed Windows 7 yourself, then proceed as follows:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Transfer of a license of Windows 8 to another motherboard.

Hi everyone, I hope that I can get a bit of advice on a bit (or what seems to be) complicates the question, I'm going to.

I bought a PC has some time there as well as an OEM of Windows 7, which, at a later date, updated to Windows 8.
Now, I recently bought another motherboard to replace my old H61 and would like to transfer my license of Windows 8 for the new motherboard.
I will be reuse everything in my computer, but with the new motherboard (CPU, hard drive, etc. remain)
I would be able to deactivate my license on the current motherboard and reactivate it on the new motherboard?
I don't mind doing a reinstall full, however I quite a considerable amount of data on my hard drive that could take a long time to back up. If one assumes a second question would be; can I just hook everything back up to the new motherboard (including the operating system and all data on the HARD disk) and then turn it back on there?
Is there any problem in doing this? as at the time, I wouldn't reinstall anything as such.
Thanks a lot for any help in advance.
    Best regards

Windows 8 is an upgrade requires a qualification license on any computer, it is installed on even if it can be transferred.

The license of Windows 7 would be such a qualification license except that because it is an OEM license it can be installed on a single computer. The primary component that defines a computer is the motherboard, even if you transfer everything because you replace the motherboard is a new computer.

Therefore, you cannot install the original Windows 7 OEM on the new motherboard license legally and is a limitation specific to the upgrade of the EULA for Windows 8 that you can't use it to make an illegal installation of Windows 7 in a legal installation of Windows 8.

You will have to purchase a new license for the new computer that might as well be Windows 8.1. However, you can transfer your license to upgrade existing on another computer eligible (XP, Vista, Windows 7) so you can recover at least part of the cost.

There is no process to 'disable' for Windows licenses.

  • How to transfer a license of Windows 8

I have a pro license of Windows 8 and installed on an old laptop.

I want to install Windows 8 on my laptop today. Is there a way to disable the existing windows license and activate it on my new laptop?

I got this license in India and I reside now in Germany.

    Thank you

Well, the first thing you'd have to do is to withdraw the license of the current computer or at least uninstall the product key then proceed to upgrade the new laptop using the same key.

    On the old computer:

Press the Windows key + X

    Click prompt (Admin)

At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs - upk

Press enter, this will uninstall the product key of the computer and to the evaluation mode, you are now free to use it on another computer.

Update the computer to Windows 8 Pro:

Press the Windows key + X

    Click System

    On Windows, click the link:

Get more features with a new edition of Windows

Click on the "I already have a product key link.

Enter your product key and you will be promoted to the Pro.

Because the key was already in use, you may need to reactivate by phone:

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then click run, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    4. choose the option "activate phone".

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

In regards to the old computer, if it came with an earlier version of Windows such as Windows 7 or Vista, use the recovery partition to reinstall or to reinstall the older version of the original install media.

  • Licensing, transfer of licenses

I have Windows 7 installed on a portable computer, the motherboard stopped working and because it is old, I'm replacing it with another that I have. Can I transfer windows 7 on my other laptop as the former, can not be repaired and the pc / details deleted from the license.

    Hi Pete,.

If you bought Windows 7 from a retail source... not OEM (coming pre-installed on a PC), then the answer is YES.

The main limitations are mainly with versions delivered OEM pre-installed on a PC. They can ONLY be used on the PC it came with. When the PC dies, does the Windows license.

Commercial versions can be installed on ONE PC at a time as OEM. But if this PC dies and is laid to rest, you can reinstall to a new PC.

License Office is a little different, you can install a Home PC/desktop and a laptop.

    I hope this helps.

  • Issue of license upgrade: Windows XP Home - > Win7 Pro?

    Thank you

Microsoft licenses allow an install WinXP Home to upgrade to Win7 Pro through the 'Upgrade' of Win7 Pro edition?

    Thank you

Yes, Windows XP Home Edition can be an eligible license, but you will need to do a custom installation, there is no direct upgrade path from it.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

If I need to re - install windows I have to install my copy of Windows 7 oem first and then install the upgrade of windows 8?
I thought that the new license windows 8 would take the place of the old 7 oem?

Well, it does, but you are moving elsewhere, but you cannot benefit from rights eligible OEM Windows 7 license to another machine, because the OEM for Windows 7 license was already tied to the first machine that it has been installed on.

The machine that you transfer the Windows 8 license must have a previous qualification license (XP, Vista, Windows 7, or even Windows 7).

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
