LifeDrive

According to your instructions for the error (error Sys0505) (0.841), I deleted the following files of my LifeDrive: MY PALM ACCOUNT; MY HEEL PALM BEAM; MY TREO ACCOUNT; AND MY TREO SYNC. However, when I sync with the "office crush unit", these files reappear. When I sync once more with the "device replaces the office", I can not sync at all. By the way, this am I ordered a Palm Treo 800W from Sprint and I'm worried that I might have the same questions cela this new device.

The best way is to delete these files again and go to start my computer C:------drive - program files and look for Palm or PalmSource. Then look for the name of your profile and rename the backup folder Backup.Old

When you hotsync, none of the items in the backup folder will be synchronized to your handheld.

  • LifeDrive power switch broken switch

Help.  My Lifedrive is 4 years old and has worked well for the old technology.  However, the power switch broke.  In other words, it slips easily rather than move the on/off switch and does not have the power or not.  The last position has been LOCKED.  So I can't enter the data.  A soft reset brings to the top of the screen, but the screen has half shaded numbers and does not recongize being touched or tapped.  There seems to be nothing that works.  A hard reset is not possible because the on/off switch does not work.  Most of my data is synced with my computer.  But I did an interview with oral history and voice Memos do not sync for palm desktop.  So my questions are: 1) does anyone know how to activate a locked Lifedrive with a broken switch for power on / off?  (2) someone knows how to retrieve voice memos to a unit in this condition? (3) does anyone know how to fix a switch broke on a palmOne Lifedrive?  Really hope someone can help.

This is what it looks like after removing the plastic shell.  The piezoelectric speaker is attached to the plastic shell.

Disconnect the battery from the motherboard.  I use a small Flathead screwdriver to separate the connectors softly.

    Remove the battery disconnected.

Write it now, numbers 1 to 4 on the pieces of blue plastic that supports the microdrive; in this way, you won't get lost as all back you together.

The microdrive is connected to the interface of CF. There is a sticker of warning placed on the lower part of the microdrive and interface see cut carefully through the sticker between the CF card and the microdrive with the tip of the knife.  Gently, remove the microdrive from the CF interface with a flat head screw metal or equivalent.

Now the microdrive (in my case, a memory of 32 GB compact flash) is half disconnected from the interface CF.  Continue, making sure not to damage the delicate pins.

    Congratulations!  Completely unplugged.

Remove the microdrive (or CF memory).

Disconnect the cable of the microphone of the motherboard in the same way you did to speaker wires.

Unplug the connector for cable film gently with a plastic or equivalent flat head screw.

You don't want to have cables delicate film cut by accident, so be careful.

Unplug the connector for a another movie cable gently with a plastic or equivalent flat head screw.

Remove the two very short torx screws.

Finally, the motherboard is thrown, and you can see what happened to the switch.

The central internal switch at the top of the motherboard has proved to be in the locked position.

One of the two legs of the plastic piece was found to be broken.  The other leg looked ok.

I slipped inside switch to the unlocked position manually.

Another picture of the internal switch.  If the internal switch turns out to be broken, refer to

http://1src.com/forums/printthread.php?t=121887 and order a new switch from Mouser Electronics, www.mouser.com
    Part number: 688-SSSS7A0101
    Manufacturer part number: SSSS7A0101
    DESC: SP3T W / BACK WINDOWS
    Switches slide ALPS SMD
    RoHS: compatible

I think that your internal switch is not broken.

Put the motherboard back such as the plastic piece can slide the internal switch to turn on or off position.  Be careful not to break the other leg healthy in this process!

Put everything back together carefully.  You start your Lifedrive, you will notice that the date and time are the default, put it so well.   Good luck to you!

  • Update browser/Blazer lifedrive

I used WiFi a lot while the holidays to make my Internet browsing, but I had problems & couldn't do certain things, like the cat on facebook, messenger, or watch videos on Youtube, etc... & I received a message asking me to upgrade my browser.

How would I do that? Y at - it an update on this site for blazer Lifedrive? I have already installed the Lifedrive 2.0 update.

    Thanks in advance!

    1. There is no update of Blazer.

2 Kinoma.com used to sell a program called "Kinoma 4EX" which could stream videos from youtube.com.  Unfortunately, they cease to support PalmOS earlier this year.  It is always possible to download a Youtube video to the home, convert the .flv to .avi or .mpg file, then load this onto your SD card for birding with a video player like Coreplayer, or it's free alternative TCPMP.

    3. I think That Mundu Chat now supports Facebook IM.

  • LIFEDRIVE WIFI DOESN'T CONNECT IN SPAIN

My lifedrive worked as in a dream in England, after getting help here. I installed the new palmdesktop 6.2.2 & driver update 2.0

But I just arrived in Spain, & there are cafes WiFi everywhere, & I just can't connect my Lifedrive. I wait & he sees the network loads, & signal, but after that I try to connect to the WiFi network coffee, it goes just around all networks WiFi which are close & all of a sudden, networks that have had the signal, they read no signal.

I don't think that this problem has to do with the change of country? as she worked in England. I have change the date & time on time of Madrid, but has not made a difference.

I don't know what to do next.

    Thanks in advance!

I thought that I would be entitled to a response to my post, as in Spain, I found out what the problem was.

In Spain, the way you connect to the Internet on a WiFi coffee is different in England. Whether you are in England, you first connect, & then you must give a user name & password to enter. in Spain, you need to enter a WAP or WEP key before connect you to the WiFi network at all.

  • BT connection between lifedrive & e2

When I try to link to the top, I get an error cannot open serial port?

The reason for linking up is for the game. And have no problems of implementation in the device validated through bt prefs. Can someone help?

Hello and welcome to the Palm support community.

I haven't played games on both Palm OS devices via a Bluetooth connection, only life IR beaming.  So I plugged two of my TXs and one thing is certain, it works fine.

First up, I'd start is to ensure that your Lifedrive has all the updates that are available.  There seems to be three of them, an update of the system, a security update and an update of bluetooth wireless networking.  Click on the help link at the top of the screen, and then select the handheld computers > Lifedrive > downloads.

The next thing to try is replacing devices where begin you the pairing.

When you get the error message?

  • With direct supply through Griffin PowerBlock load LifeDrive. Can it be done?

I don't like having to recharge the LifeDrive via USB to the computer.  So, I got this usb Griffin powerblock that I use to power my Zune player.  The power plug match the power of the LifeDrive specs.  I was wondering if it would FRY my LifeDrive by connecting the side usb in usb - next to the power supply powerblock.  I ask because I see other sites that the connector end of the power (the LifeDrive) is small and NOT like that of the connector used for power and synchronization via usb only.

A bit simpler: the powerblock I plugs into the wall and the usb cable plugs into it.  I'm afraid that somehow power not only to feed the correct contacts (to load), but power also to other contacts that synchronize the device to the computer, effectively blowing my LifeDrive.

Someone at - it experience with this dilemma?

    Thanks again

If you connect the USB cable into another USB port then the device should be OK. USB standards means the function of each axis in the conector and tensions, they are universal for any cable USB/port.

You can do a search on Google for a power running to your lifedrive.

    I found one on ebay.

  • Problem with Lifedrive Manager on a Machine MS Vista

I used my Lifedrive for a long time since a MS Windows XP Home Office successfully.  This summer, I got a new laptop which has Windows Vista Home Premium.  I am able to use the Palm Desktop software and hotsync for the XP desktop and laptop of Vista.  I am, however, problems with Lifedrive Manager.  Whenever I start the laptop, I get a message that the machine could not initialize "PalmOneRemoteLibrary."  I ignored the message because I could do everything I needed up to today.  When I tried to start the LifeDrive Manager (impetus provided by a message that asked that I install my photos using LifeDrive Manager), I got the PalmOneRemoteLibrary error message.

I realize that this machine can be a relic, but I really like it, and I did a lot of use of it.  My LifeDrive machine runs Palm OS Garnet 5.4.8.  I recently put a mass of images on the internal drive using 'Training Mode'.

Am I correct the LifeDrive Manager is inevitably incompatible with Windows Vista, and which is the source of my problem?  Any difficulty that I could try?  Any other ideas?

Hello blue8star and welcome to the forums of Palm.

The LifeDrive Manager application, unfortunately, is not compatible with Windows Vista.  Palm said they aren't going to release a update for the abandoned PDA.  (By the way, I have a palmOne LifeDrive and always use it often.)

To load on the LifeDrive bulk data, you have the right idea, use the Drive Mode.

  • I can not connect the Lifedrive to Internet via bluetooth or Wi - fi

I've had my lifedrive for about 4 years now. It was a gift, and I've never used it that much; Only, I downloaded some pictures, songs & used the calendar; as I didn't have a computer of my own.

Now, I have a computer with Windows Vista, & I was hoping I would finally get some use out of my lifedrive. But first, the cd accompanying software was not compatible with Vista (& I can't find any way or find a compatible download), & the most important thing is that I can't connect to Internet on my lifedrive via Wi - fi or even bluetooth. This function, I have never used before, so I'm starting to think that it's something wrong from the factory.

When I connect to the Internet in a WiFi zone, & then I try to open the browser (blazer), it resets every time, & I can read this message: "memory Mgr.c, line: 3759, Word-non-aligned handle.

When I try to connect to the Internet using bluetooth through my laptop (cable modem) Internet connection, I get this message as soon as I click on 'connect': ' errorerial: Timeout. " Could be a bad cable or defective Modem (0 x 0305)»

My computer & lifedrive are paired, & this pairing has worked in the past.

I did a hard-reset of my lifedrive, as this seemed to be advised in your site, but the problem persists.

Any ideas, please? Because I'm in the point to get rid of him.

    Thanks in advance!

Have you installed all the updates last driver for your device?

You cannot simply connect to a computer via BlueTooth and go online without establishing a PPP portal.  Take a look at softick ppp here:

  • LIFEDRIVE & Vista

Is there anyway that I can get my Lifedrive to work with Vista 32 bit?

I was never able to make it work. When I install the software that came with my drive, it screws upward with my computer, so since the day I got it, I've been able to use it as a removable disk, or send/receive files via bluetooth.

I've looked everywhere & can't find the updates, new downloads, nothing that addresses this issue.

Us Palm, lifedrive homeowners completely alone? Or am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance!

All the way back on 20 January 2008, I've tested the LifeDrive with Windows Vista and Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  You can read my notes here.  The only thing I would add now, some two and a half years later is that PalmHotSyncSetup of Pimlico (free) lets devices to HotSync Palm OS running Palm OS version 5.2.1 and who do not have the PIMS Palm reinforced installed.

  • Best browser for Lifedrive

I have a PALM Lifedrive with the browser Blazer (v4.1).

I know that the Blazer is now quite old, and it is not updated.

So, what's the best browser alternative (and recent), paid free oy, that I can use for the Lifredrive?

    Thank you.

Blazer is the best you'll find... Opera Mini has been tried by a lot of people and proved to be unstable.

Another alumnus is "Xiino.  It works pretty well to loading large pages that chokes Blazer.

  • Problems with lifedrive

I have a drive of life in mexico city, one day it stop working, I can not find someone to fix it because they said there are no longer any new hardware to buy, it's the truth? Is there a place to fix it?

Hello and welcome to the Palm support community.

I merged your two threads separated in this one.

You do not say how your Lifedrive is broken, but places like www.usedpdaparts.com and www.directfix.com get good customer user for their repair services.

There is no new Palm PDA to replace your Lifedrive.  The latest Palm devices are the Pre and Pixi smartphones.  They can be used to sync with your Palm Desktop (contacts and calendar) DonnΘesa with the use of one of several third-party applications like Chapura Echo.  It costs $40.

  • try to install the software on vista laptop lifedrive

I put my lifedrive software disc in and the computer will not install the software or just does not recognize.

The software on the CD is not compatible with Vista. You will need to download Palm desktop from our Web site. The drive of life Manager software is not available for Vista.

  • Usable for Lifedrive mobile phones?

I got a palmOne Lifedrive and sometimes only Mobile phone net is availlible for the Internet.

Only the listed old phones work with my lifedrive?

OE also all modells with bluetooth?

Hello horst37, welcome to the Palm support community.

Best hopes to connect to a cell phone lie with those that use network (those who have a SIM card in there).

There is a company that sells drivers for more modern than those listed in the Palm phones.  You can try before you buy one of these:

  • LifeDrive won't reset or quick erase

After 3 years of perfect operation, my LifeDrive has started to freeze-up frequently; two or three times a day. A few days later it froze and started spontaneously, reset procedure without my press the reset button with the stylus, but it could not reset. Simply, it froze on the initial screen to reset and stayed there without any symptoms of progress until the device's battery is out. I tried to reset the device manually, more than once, without progress and variation in my results.

Then I pressed the power button while pressing the button Reset and selected the fading fast (up) option to reinstall everything and just get a clean start. Unfortunately, the unit freezes right on the screen white and gray fading fast without any progress. I even left connected to the charger so that the battery is not extinguished until the process can be completed. But even after leaving a few days ago, it still froze at the same place without symptoms of any progress.

The progress bar does not appear when I try to reset (mild, hot or hard). Only the screen logo of LifeDrive or erase quick screen without progress.

Is there a solution? Is there an economic solution? Or should I just accept my LifeDrive's dead and go out to buy an iPhone?

    Thanks for the quick response.

I did some research online myself and found not only documents, but a video that shows the LifeDrive performace side-by-side: MicroDrive CompactFlash vs. The CF has not only is more stable (not), but it is MUCH faster than the MicroDrive, and there is less of a supply to the battery line.

Here's the video. It helps if you speak Spanish, however: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1tfcn_pdacolombia-videocast-10

I'll go ahead and get a pre-formatted CF LifeDrive and myself put in place with a LifeFlash instead of a palmOne LifeDrive; see how Plug and play it really is.

    Once again, thank you.
