LightRoom5 mobile catalog

Thus, a frustrating day.

Scenario:

  • School with hundreds of students.
  • Lightroom license
  • Journal of students on multiple devices.
  • Lightroom catalogs do not work on the network because Adobe thinks it is "unstable" (everyone manages adobe, get a grip or use some decent coders!)
  • Opening and logoff scripts created to copy the catalogoue worms and destocking log power netowrk
  • Script copy good files, permissions seem OK.
  • After the opening of a new PC, the initial run of lightroom ignores the file I created in %appdata%\adobe\lightroom\preferences that points to the file on the local disk and instead acatalogue prompts me to create a new catalog

Someone at - it experience with this scenario?

I need to have a user pick up their catalog when they log on one computer, even if they have not used before.

Thanks guys, I now understood that.

In case it helps someone else, that's what I did...

Launched Lightroom and created a new empty catalog in C:\lrcat

Copy the c:\lrcat folder AND the %appdata%\adobe\lightroom\preferences\lightroom preferences.agprefs 5 to my netlogon on the domain controller.

Created a group policy and logon script with the following:

  • Problem Mobile catalog to a new computer

I'm trying to migrate to a new computer Windows.  I got the transfer of user data by a store of the local computer, and they did a brilliant job.  On my old computer, my user data were on C:, but on the new computer, C:\ is a SSD boot and data are on D:\.  In particular, active Lightroom (raw, tiff, etc.) were C:\Users\Owner\Pictures, but are now in D:\Users\John\Pictures.  I understand that there is a symlink in Windows that handles the change in the location of the user profile and practically my all programs were able to manage the passage of C:\ to D:\ automatically.  But not Lightroom.

When I start Lightroom and open the catalog, all the thumbnails are the exclamation "Miss Photo" and all files in the files of the low owner Panel have the question mark.  If I look at the link of the folder in the metadata Panel (see below), I see the folder locations are hard coded in the catalog.  Lightroom does not use the symbolic link.

    Folder points to C drive.png

What is the right way to get the catalog to point to the correct location?  I simply right click on owner? in the Panel of the records (see below), select "Find the missing folder", and then navigate to D:\Users\John?  It seems that this easy solution that I tried to do it without asking first. Or is there another / better way?

    find missing folder.png

Under Lightroom CC (2015) Windows 7 64 bit.

I simply right click on owner? in the Panel of the records (see below), select "Find the missing folder", and then navigate to D:\Users\John?

    Yes!

Don't forget that you have at least two backup copies of your catalog and all your photos.  It is easy enough for readers to fail, but the risk increases when material changes.

  • Files and mobile catalog

Currently my catalog and photos are inside a directory c:/current (shortened to simpliicty path!) and I want to spend the entire batch to a new location on the same drive, c:/NewLoc.

How? I see a lot of explanations to other readers or machines but cannot find an explanation of a "simple" move to another directory on the same drive!

    Peter R Hawkes

    Peter,

Probably the simplest thing would be to move the contents of c:\current to c:\newloc using Windows Explorer:

-Firstly, in lightroom to make sure that all folders that are subfolders of the current (or sub-sub-folders, etc.). You may need to click on a higher level, then choose 'add a Parent folder '. Close LR.

-Now, in Solution Explorer, select the contents of the current and drag them to Newloc.

-Now, double-click the LR catalog that you moved. LR is open.

-In LR, the current (and its subfolders) will be "?" on them. Right-click on the current and choose 'find the missing folder '. Go to NewLoc and click OK.

You're done, except maybe to go into preferences/general tab and setting which catalog to use at startup.

  • Lightroom New lost mobile sync to restore storage catalog?

    Hi all

I'll try to explain this as best I can. I didn't save my catalog on my computer before formatting my computer. When I created a new catalog LR obviously, I lost my mobile catalog and my 400 images + disappeared. I don't understand why this has happened, the new catalog LR on my computer, overwriting the old. The issue I see is that I use 22 56 GB of storage, which I suppose is the previous catalog. How can I return this space? So I do not use a half my storage capacity for «lost photos»

  • Lightroom Mobile not automatically import pictures - Android

Somewhere along the way, probably over the last month or two, Lightroom Mobile ceased to import pictures taken on my camera for the Lightroom Mobile catalog. I can import them manually, but I got the device set to automatically import. It is always. No idea how I can fix this? Of course I tried reboot etc.

Could you check in the settings (icon of Lr left superior collections veiw) Lr Mobile if adding auto photos + videos is always enabled. If this is not the case, just reactivate the parameter and the value of your collection of target for automatic import again. Let me know if this helps. -Guido

  • Lightroom mobile lost everything

I had about 30 photos on my mobile of LR app, when I logged in my LR Office for the first time on my laptop. He asked if I wanted to replace the catalog on the laptop with the mobile catalogue and I said yes - so he does the exact opposite and wiped my LR mobile catalog!

    Hello

He asked if I wanted to replace the catalog on the laptop with the mobile catalogue and I said yes - so he does the exact opposite and wiped my LR mobile catalog!

The prompt says if you pass a new catalogue for synchronization, all data currently being synced in Lightroom for mobile will be wiped.

Lightroom only synchronizes and maintaining data in a catalog at a time. Which is exactly what happened.

Resynchronize data from mobile Lightroom for synchronization across this collection on your desktop/laptop.

    Kind regards

  • New Mac synchronize collections from the existing collections of light room Mobile, what is happening? How can I fix it?

I created an account of lightroom through my iPad and iPhone.  No problem with lightroom it or the PC I have.  Well, now I have a MAC and got the cloud creative apps lightroom and photoshop on it.  Open the ambient light and there is no file not found.  All he wants to import comes from the local disk.  I tried to click on synchronize with mobile and invites me to "remove all synchronized data?

    It also States:

"Lightroom allows you to synchronize a single mobile catalog with lightroom.  You currently sync "Lightroom Catalog.lrcat".

"Do you want to delete all the data synchronized with Lightroom Mobile and synchronize this catalog instead? This will remove all data mobile Lightroom to your mobile devices.  It deletes all the pictures stored on your computer. »

I don't want to delete what is currently on my mobile.  There is no data on the Mac store.  That's what I'm trying to add mobile.  I want that all my data on mobile that I can't see on the two iPad iPhone no problem, to be opened on Mac.  How can I fix it?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

You cannot synchronize 2 different computers with LR mobile even if you use the same catalog on both computers. Whenever LR opens a catalog, even the same, on 2 different computers the file gets catalog a unique identification number, and it is this identification number is used to mobile LR for the synchronization of the collections.

Which to correct a catalog PC. You can move files in LR to keep the changes, and then copy the catalog. He got a little complicated when I tried and I found myself from scratch any movement. I ended up with double copies because I moved t bad but can be done. Thanks for all the help and tutorials, etc.

  • Lr using mobile as a travel Editor

    friends,

I want to use mobile lr as a publisher of travel with my iPad.  I download my JPEG files to iPad, their importation to mobile lr and editing. When I get home I plan to let sync (copy) lr collections of my iPad on my desk. I tried at home as an experience and it seems to work, but I don't remember if the images of size would be synchronize or smart only previews. I know that it won't work (yet) with the RAWs, but even with JPEG files, it would be a great step forward.

    Thoughts? Thank you!

    Steve

    Hello!

You should be able to sync collections directly from your Lightroom into Lightroom Mobile catalog. Then they would be available on your iPad. You will need to should not download JPEG files on your iPad to do this. Changes that you make in Lightroom Mobile will be synchronized in Lightroom and vice versa.

  • How do you combine Lightroom catalogs?

I intend to make a trip and I'll take along my MacBook Air to process my photos using Lightroom.  How to combine this catalogue of RAW images and the processing of the files with the existing catalog on my main computer at home?

I have a catalog of travel on a large map SDXC on my Macbook Pro. If I do edit, rating and keywords etc on the road. I have then import the mobile catalog in my main Lightroom catalog on the desktop computer and erase the card ready for the next trip.

  • Export OF Mobile Office

    Hi all

New to the site and looking forward to learn as much as I can about Lr5 and photography in general. In particular the composition.

In any case, here's the situation. I have installed on my desktop and laptop Lr5. Do a bit of travel and have tons of photos imported to my laptop this trip. I want to move them all over my office without overwhelming it and files.

    -Pictures of the laptop-> desktop

I export the mobile catalog, and then import this catalog in my office? Should I also copy all photos as well?

If someone knows a link to a good tutorial it would be very appreciated!

Thanks in advance for the help.

    See you soon,.

    Rob in Brunswick, Me

If you export as Catalog on the laptop and select "include negatives", your photos will be copied to the location that you specify for the catalog. You move all this to the desktop somewhere (anywhere) and then on the desktop in Lightroom using file-> import from another catalog

    Hello
I have AQ and Prod OBIEE servers running on 2 linux servers... I want the catalog of QA prod with the Catalog Manager.

We have recently installed obiee and all these days I am download QA RPD prod with EM and mobile catalog of QA prod since the backend using scp... since I had the only customer in my machine

Now, I have installed obiee costume machine in windows and I Catalog Manager now and I want to move the Catalog Manager.

Can someone explain to me the steps to do this please?

    -Thanks in advance

    Hi Siri,

It's okay, where you don't need old references, delete folder 'ABC' of the catalogue of prod and then paste the folder of QA. It will not retain the old references.

Archive and copy /paste does the same job. Archive of the term here does not mean that backup. If we simple objects to be moved across the catalog, Oracle suggests to use the feature archive / Unarchive. Hope that answered.

  • The best way to travel in order to bring the laptop images

I have lightroom on a laptop and desktop system

EM. Wonder about the best way to put the photos I take while traveling to desktop system without losing data lightroom.

On both computers, I keep photos in folders by date.

In the past, I just copied the files of the laptop and then imported these files in the catalog of lightroom on desktop.

Is there a way to tell lightroom to take the lightroom for mobile phones catalog info and import them into the one on the desktop?

I save metadata (xmp or jpg files) images after having been edited so I know who get most (all?) of the catalog info when I just copy the photos on the desktop and then import it.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Paul,

I would like to keep a structure of the same folders on the laptop and the desktop (not necessarily the same drive letters, but the same structure). Then I would be:

    • Copy the image files from the laptop to the desktop
    • By using the catalog office, do an import of the catalog to the mobile catalog
      • Use "add new photos to catalog without moving.
    • If the drive letters containing the original match, it's all there is to it
    • If drive letters containing the originals do not match, all you have to do is 'Find missing folder' on the top-level only imported folder

    Beat

    PS:

    • No need to write the XMP data, because it does contain all the information anyway catalog (virtual copies, collections, flags, fireplaces,...).
    • Please note that the parameters of published services NOT imported when you import the catalog.

  • Moving from one computer to another - PSE 5

The time has come to move image files and the catalog from one computer to the other.  Currently, I have pictures stored on a pc, but have developed my catalog of files on a laptop computer that accesses the computer via a local home network.  The laptop is Windows 7, and the old pc is Windows XP.  Successfully, I've updated the laptop recently and have catalog resident on her, transferred by the migration of W7 option.  The catalogue, however, do not attach tags and appropriate legends and yet I can access the images on the old pc successfully once I have reconnect, in batches.

The old pc is about to die and I would move the image files to a newer version with Windows Vista.  At the same time, I would like to transfer my laptop catalog to the new pc and make it work on my new laptop.  I installed the program PSE 5 on the new pc and was looking for a way to move (I'm not really sure of what 'on the move' {means, but I read it in a few discussions, seemed important to use PSE 5 program to accomplish this step} but could not find a move command in the section of the FILE that does not involve an intermediary device such as a CD) , as opposed to simply using my local network.

Can anyone guide my through the steps necessary to restore my catalog on the laptop and transfer the images from the old pc and the mobile catalog for the new pc?  I can still access the catalog on the old laptop if necessary file, but its screen is tempermental and not likely to be visible for a long time.

I use PSE 5 especially for its organizational capacity related to the tags and captions.  I know that the software has advanced at least 3 generations from PSE 5 and I would consider an upgrade if the organizational aspects are higher in the new versions.  To facilitate what I want to do?

This type of difficulty facing many users when migration is required for all purposes.

    Still hopeful - David

Backup and restore order through you move all the images from the old pc to new pc. In case you want to move all images to the network location, it will be a separate process and you can use the command MOVE to make.

  • Sync mobile LR catalog on two computers?

So, I have my office with my hard drive storage in what I have all my photos to empty. I also have mobile LR synchronized in this catalogue. I am trying to open LR on my laptop (both are Windows btw) and look at catalogs synchronized with this computer, but all I see is the ability to move catalogs and my old catalogs from when I was using my laptop as my main. Is it possible to establish how far I use my desktop computer as my synchronized catalog it and view these catalogs on my laptop without having to make file transfers? I can see the images on my Galaxy s7, as all catalogs appear there, but for the life of me I can't understand how it worked. My apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find a specific answer to this.

I'm never home and my laptop does not have a lot of space - could it be developed with smart insights? Still, I don't know what I'm doing here and I hope you all can help.

You cannot synchronize 2 computers the way you want. From your desktop, you can create collections with Lightroom that can be shared and then you can work with these images on your mobile devices. In addition, with your laptop, you could go to adobe. Lightroom.com and have access to these collections. But you cannot access catalogues on other computers using the cloud. The catalog must be local to the computer running Lightroom.
