Limitation of the CPU Alienware 18

I've had my AW 18 for a month now and it appeared that shortly after that I started to use that performance was not where it should be.  Make a long story short, the whole issue of limitation is perfectly relatedn post of this forum.

Bottom line, all of limitation and heat/fan issues that occur can be resolved with a BIOS updated so please Dell and Alienware, help us.

Be courteous to the brother Chris and bear in mind that he is the Messenger. He's here for our benefit and deserves our respect. He is not personally responsible for the problems that everybody knows.

If you know the correct settings to use and use the tools, the 4930MX can run 4.3 GHz without problem. It can also run 4.5 GHz or 4.6 GHz without problem. I'm talking of all hearts, not one base... and under 100% load. So, to answer the question, you don't need to wait for Dell at all to turn the CPU at this frequency. For those who have a doubt about the ability to overclock the CPU, take a look at these screenshots.

It is an undeniable fact that the fans are not working. It compromises all exactly the same way... games, professional use or overclocking. It is a problem faced by many customers, and I hope that it is only a matter of time before it is resolved. For those looking for assistance with cooling while we wait for an updated BIOS update to fix it, there is something you can reduce the severity of the problem... read more.

I have repasted CPU with Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra and it helped to compensate for the lack of fan activity. It is a liquid metal TIM who did a phenomenal job of heat transfer, but it can cause serious if it is not used with great caution. With Ultra liquid, I am actually able to run 4.5 GHz and TIM change of phase full of markers that caused a thermal shutdown before the fans begin to turn using the stick or thermal paste IC Diamond.

Heating liquid Ultra slow CPU which allows enough time for the latency in arrays of fan 'catch up' and confirm the temperatures are really too hot and the fans actually need to come, and fans end up by begin to run.

Discovered this album to get advice on the application of the Ultra liquid. You will find a description of text under each photo.

After the use of Ultra fluid, I was able to make this 1080 p video at 4.3 GHz with a maximum base of 83 ° C temperature. If you watch the video in 1080 p, you can look at the times in real-time.

Hi, im having trouble finding the exact chipset of the Alienware 51 i7 x 3770. I bought a new case, the food and the gpu for the project. I also jumped the gun and the waste of money on a motherboard with a lga1150 socket that I thought would work, but was wrong in the end. I noticed on the stock x 51 mb he had 115 x lm on the socket, but I wasn't sure if it was the code of real socket or something else.  I would like to know if someone could inform me on which card code mother socket would support my cpu or direct me to any suited cards Mini ITX mothers who will support the i7 Alienware 3770.

  • Alienware 17 4 beeps after the replacement of the CPU

    Hello

My, one month out of warranty, and Alienware 17A worked well until Christmas morning.

When I tried to put one I had no sign of life except 7 beeps.

From my research it seemed like the CPU or the motherboard.

I decided to play and replace the processor i7-4710mq.

After following all the steps according to the owner's manual and carry anti passive gear, I have everything back together.

When I tried to start it again, it gives me 4 beeps which I believe is insufficient RAM or RAM read/write.

I have two laptops Alienware 17 identical so I replaced the ram in the laptop to work with this ram and it starts fine for ram, it would seem that the ram is good.

I'm looking for one direction a little bit to what else could be causing these 4 beeps please.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

This looks like a problem with the motherboard. A failure of the CPU is quite rare, and since you have already replaced the CPU and tested the ram with another system, which leaves the motherboard, which is the only other component that could cause this kind of problem.

  • Limitation of the Virtual Machine's CPU/memory resources.

    Hello

My question on the tab "resources" with VMachine settings (I hope I picked the right branch here)

In this tab I put a booking/Limit for CPU/memory for current VMachine.

I have a cluster about 6 ESX servers with resource by default and a VMachine inside pool. VMachine have 1 CPU. Each ESX have 2 plugs with 4 core per socket. Each base equal to 2, 83GHz. Def.

In this case, which by default configuration for an average CPU for this VMachine limitaion - 132582 MHz? Because in practice ESX server can give only 1 CPU for this VMachine and this CPU will have 2, 83GHz only...

Also, I put 100% of CPU - 132582 MHz booking here... But in true VMachine will never receive this resource...

Same question about limitation of memory...

When this limitation will work? For what porpose such booking/limitaion here?

Re: But, if I'm going to make a mistake and this CPU for VM value reserve, which is more physical limitation - it reduces resources processor for other VMs on a value that is more than the physical limitation of the virtual computer?

No, the reservation only guarantees that if a virtual machine wants to take a large part of the resource at a given time VMware should give him.  If there is ever going to be a situation where the virtual machine is in fact to consider that much so it never gets allocated to this virtual machine and the amount of the resource remains available for other virtual machines to use.  Similarly, if the virtual machine just does not use the amount of the booking to a point in time, he let this resource can be used by other virtual machines.

If a virtual computer uses only 1 GHz on a core 3 GHz system, at a given time but thereservation is 2.5 GHz, 1.5 GHz between its use and booking that is not used at this time is available for other VMS to use.  That is only if there is a period of contention between VM and VM CPU wishing to use mean 2.8 GHz it would be guaranteed to get 2.5 GHz independently of the parameters of the actions on the VM from other virtual machines.

It is essentially the same thing with memory except that the memory usage is not as CPU flunctuate and VMware must also use more complex methods to reallocate the memory, but the leaders of the way in which it is shared using actions, reservations and limit is the same.

  • Distribution of load among the groups, only one thread limited to physical CPU (& memory)?

I was not able to discern, documentation, I read so well how the load of a virtual machine is distributed should the load exceeds the limits of one CPU heart.

At what level is the distributed load between the physical processors cores and especially between physical servers?

At the level of the Virtual Machines,

At the level of the process.

At the level of the threads, or

    Somehow secondary thread?

I'll ask another way; the ESX provides virtual processors that exceed the capacity of the hearts of single-processor or single servers, which also has the ability to run a single thread that consumes the entire capacity of the virtual processor?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

There is good documentation for this issue?

    AiwarikiaR-

I don't think that it is wrong, unless you only have 1 VM.

If you have more 1VM, with the processors maintain will almost always help them performance.

best place to like this doco is VMWorld transcripts and VMware classes.

  • HP Z600: What processors am I limited with the hpz600 workstation?

    Hi, I have a HP Z600 that I bought refurbished. The vehicle currently has 2 x Xeon X 5560 2.8 cpus.

I am struck with this configuration cpu load limit (I run the intensive 3d modeling software), and I want to improve.

Am I limited with the motherboard on these workstations?

Which processors that you would recommend? (I looking for a quite intensive help and have a few hundred dollars to spend).

    Thank you!

anti1, older versions of the Z600 support microprocessors Intel 55xx only, later versions support as 55xx 56xx CPUs.  The best way to determine this is to boot the system, enter the BIOS F10 setup and look at the date of starting block.

If the boot block date is 03/01/2009, the system supports the 55xx only processors.

If the block start date is 07/01/2010, the system supports processors 55xx both 56xx.

-C' is the block of start date, not the date of the version of the BIOS.

-There is no way to update the boot block.  (There are several discussions in this forum about this)

If your system has the block to start later, upgrade to a 6 core CPU 56xx will give best performance.  I think that the frequency of the processor 6 c is 3.47 GHz, although there is a 4 processor 3.6 GHz.  Your application supports multiple cores?

To get an idea of any increase in performance, look at the reference site of CPU of the pass mark for the top processors of range, here.

Based on these landmarks (I know, they are markers without real object numbers), you could get about 70% performance increase by using a X 5690 6 3.47 GHz CPU core.  Is it enough for your application?

  • Wanting to upgrade the CPU in the satellite L20 196

    Hello

I'm new to this forum but have owned this laptop new a moment right now. As time has passed I noticed he has aged rapidly in recent months and needs a boost of speed.
I upgraded the RAM, a matching pair to 1 GB (896 MB showing, guess that's graphic shared?), but still not quite quickly enough.

My question is, can I upgrade the processor to a Pentium M or at least a faster Celeron?
If Yes, then what is the best possible processor that will be compatible? Autour Googling, I see I'm not alone on this idea, but all the info and comments where other L20 and not my model 196 in question.
Do I have reason to believe that the limits are 400 Mhz FSB, 1.5 GHz and 478 pins for this laptop?
Finally, I replaced and rebuilt a lot of PC in the past. A laptop (my L20) is much more difficult to remove and replace a CPU?

Thank you and look forward to any comments thereon.

In General, the CPU upgrade is not supported. More info on what you can read under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

To be clear. Your Satellite L20 is really not the best laptop and on the scale of 1 to 5 when 5 of the best, I give your laptop 2. This laptop is designed for day-to-day activities like Office, internet, watching movies, listening to music and writing emails. So I think that with the preinstalled operating system and well set to own and 1 GB of RAM, it must have enough power for this.

I don't know what you want to do with this good old classic, but if you need laptop with more power for games or multimedia activities, I think it's time for the new laptop computer.

Please don't be crazy on me because I did not offer exact answer, but I just want to be realistic and honest with you.

  • ENVY 17 3D - no overheating, no surprise, but suddenly the CPU is too

Since HP has really managed to kill the line of envy and merge it with the Pavilion dv line, brand envy low poor quality material pavilions, I still use my old, real envy 17 3d 1195ea apart elitebook workstations brilliant, because his only able successor, the 17 line 3200, is no longer available for purchase , and something more recent (envy j# line) is low-middle-end consumer crap.

now the line want 1000 overheats as soon as it is powered on without news, I could manage quite well by opening to the top of each month and cleaning inside, same repasted CPU & GPU some 3 months ago, making the time decreased by 10 degrees in general.

However, since a few weeks I meet some really strange and excessive overheating of the CPU (although the 5850 m GPU was overheating mainly of firs to date).

It is idling at 65-85, but with each burst (happening several times a second), it reached 99 to 100 degrees for a fraction of a second. That is to say. times are constantly jumping up to 100.

pull up something really stressing, as a game (CS - because its bound processor) or an application with emphasis on the CPU, makes the scope of the CPU 100 degrees in less than 1-2 minutes, leading to the heavy restrictions and ergo great performances.

even strongly linked to the GPU games keep the GPU at 90-95 degrees (from my experience in the past, during bad weather the GPU begins to 104 degrees, so no question of limitation at all), while the CPU gets up to 100 and the throttles.

now my question - is the only explanation for what the thermal paste has become dysfunctional? That is to say. repasting it would solve it?

or else maybe the reason for this?

    Thank you

OK, repasting has a job well done. now, I'm back at temperatures around 85-98 for two, CPU GPU & under medium to heavy load. Surf and light load remains at 70-80 degrees.

so I can't tag this thread as resolved, even if only a 'real' solution would be a different cooling system, IE. a second fan heatsinks more/more thick, Gill more...

or a REAL new Envy 17 3D, IE. no desire to brand pavillion.

  • You can remove the CPU of a heatsink fan without removing the radiator?

Well, I play games on my laptop and I think I have exhausted my fan. It's about does not and I get an error when I start my laptop (error 90 b). I want to replace it with the right fan but I would also save time and money by removing just the radiator cooling fan. Is it also possible to prevent overheating with the new fan in my laptop? Is another question, possible for the processor to change in this laptop?

Laptop: HP Pavilion G7-2269wm, Windows 8.1

You all rest of the warranty!

screw on the radiator fan & I would like to only by the fan.

Reconstruction will require good thermal paste like artic silver ceramic (good for laptops) also check how all chips in contact with the heat sink as if not under a load or using the soft thermal pads do editing of the slipways (measured correctly) copper will have big gains for cooling & life of the material.

CPU is variable, but upgrade options will be limited, consult the manual of the hp (support download) for possible options of better equipped models of processor...

  • Windows media player network sharing the CPU excessive service

After you have enabled the sharing of multimedia files, I find that this service runs continuously and consumes about 25% of the time processor. In addition, Windows Media Player uses also a surcharge of 25% when they are active. I have a quad core cpu and even if it is a considerable success on my computing speed.

    I've tried several things:

Deleted then recreated the home group

People with disabilities and rebooted Media Sharing

Rebuilt the windows media player library

Looking for corrupted hard disk files

Run my computer for three days without rebooting! (Still not enough to complete the indexing!)

None of them worked.  In addition, when windows media player is active, it seems to be constantly updated in the library. (I think this explains the 25% CPU usage).

I have search databases, etc. online and although this problem is frequently mentioned, the only "solution" was to disable sharing... which seems a little extreme and also limits how do I use this feature because I have to restart it whenever I wanted to stream a file.

    Help, please!

    Thank you...

Well!  I have an answer.  Apparently with a large media library (I have several thousand titles and 150 gigs of stuff) it takes forever for the library index for distribution to work properly.  After several days of 50% use of media player and the service of streaming media... they finally stop! The CPU usage is back to normal... the library is indexed and all is right with the world. I would like someone from Microsoft said this long ago... and I really hope this helps others with the same problem.

    Hello

I highly recommend not to turn on your computer until the fan is replaced.

Is your PC still under warranty?

You may not use the original part.

All you need is to have a CPU for a socket 775 CPU fan (LGA775). I recommend that you choose 90-92mm fan size due to the limitations of the original business space.

You will also need thermal interface (I recommend Arctic Silver 5 or OCZ Freeze Thermal Interface material)

material can be purchased at any store for PC. You can also have the fan replaced in a PC shop little charges.

The original p/n is 5188-5525 to the heat sink. Source reference: HP PartSurfer

  • Technical limitations of the server VSphere Essentials?

I'm running the free VSphere hypervisor and the vSphere Client. It seems that there are a ton of limitations in the free version. So far, I stumbled upon:

    (1) failed to move a virtual machine from one storage location to another

    (2) unable to set "Promiscuous" mode on a network adapter

The list of documents things which should be available in the client, but did not exist (for example, the tabs together or options). For me it will be continue to occur as I continue to implement my VM.

I work in a small business environment, but still have needs of which is apparently offered in some of the other products (for example. VMotion, VCenter?). But I use only two virtual machines on a single server with 1 CPU and that's all that I will probably have need for a while. Is there a way that I can know what are the technical limitations? I don't want to buy the product and know that I am still limited.

    Thank you
