• 9.2 CC InDesign crashes when you open the data merge Panel

  I have a document that is in a book (for multiple files) with cross-references to other documents in the book. I also almost all of the content in an inCopy assignment in order to manage in multiple versions/layouts with the same content. All references are separated InCopy as page numbers vary from book to book.

  That said, so that other documents in the work of book very well, this one is having issues. Whenever I try to view the data merge Panel, it crashes. I had a similar problem with other files where if I try to select a merge data source it would break. I've solved the problem of the registration of a copy, the deletion of all pages of the document, by selecting the data merge source (who now works with any content on the pages), and then copy and paste the content on the pages back. Not sure why this works, but it did.

  The problem is that I tried the same solution on this document and it worked until I tried to click on the data merge Panel after you follow these steps, inDesign crashes. If I open the data merge Panel, THEN open the document, it crashes as well.

  I'll try to redo this with panel data fusion open while I copy and paste content back in and see if I can refine the problematic content if that is the question.

  Hello. I have problems to define the path to the image properly to merge images into my document. The data merges correctly, then not issued with the source file, but the images will not bind. Have tried serval variables: for example including with and without the "Machintoch HD" root directory path and "/" and with ":" and with the name of folder only. A copy path directly from indesign links Panel. At a loss. Am I missing something simply or is it too complicated?

• Export unique PDF pages to InDesign after the data merge

  So I got this hitch with my last job that I can't move.

  I'm generating nearly 700 labels of bag with the help of the data fusion which is each in their own PDF file with a unique file name.

  My current process is:

  1. Open my file in InDesign.
  2. Data merge all labels like "creating a merged document.
  3. Run a script that does some minor changes and then automatically add bookmarks based on a paragraph style.
  4. Export a single pdf file containing all the labels.

  Now, that's the thing that I meet. Initially, I thought open the PDF in acrobat and then divide the file based on the bookmark names - that works very well. However, I also need convert the text to outlines text, then the fonts don't get replaced by our supplier in China (long story). Ideally, I discovered Acrobat can do it himself, but unfortunately it can not be used for several single paged pdf files in the Action Wizard. If I vectorize the text before you split the pdf file, the bookmark naming convention does not seem to work...

  I thought that this might work, but if there was a script that could export PDFs page of InDesign itself and use the paragraph style name. And then I could put just a pdf preset to underline the text. I can't find anything like those well...

  So there's my pickle. I would be grateful for your suggestions!

• Switch to numbers in the data merge

  I have a strange problem with data merge in CS6. We are merging the addresses and when the address field starts with 2 numbers (like 11-100 Main Street or 11 100th Street) the fusion of data passes these numbers (so we are left with 100-11 Main Sreet or 100 11th Street). Can you help me understand?

• Find the empty entries after the data merge

  I would like to know if it is somehow possible to search for empty entries after that data merge is complete?

  The "Scriptures" are shown with visible hidden characters, as you can see in the attached screenshot:

  

  Can I copy and insert in the Find/Replace window, but nothing can be found. I think that these aren't real hidden characters.

  Any Solution?

• Problems with the data merge

  I created a file in excel with 966 lines all in column A. I have saved as a txt file and created an Indesign document with 966 pages.

  In the InDesign file, I put in place a text box with the font and size, I wanted then he centered in the document. When I do the merging of data in the master page shows only the text of row 2 in every single text box on each page.

  I tried searching and tried the other boxes and do not master pages. Why can't I get my text to display in the order in all pages?

  If I send someone with screenshots or call someone for a step by step which would be very useful.

  Line 2 is selected, because the first row should be used as a header that describes the content.

  With regard to the merger itself, you have no need create a 966-page document. Create a document 1 page with your domain in place, and then perform the merge. InD will create automatically 966 pages, or as many as it takes to use all the data. If you want all in the same document, I wouldn't put the merge field in the master page, but on the page of the document instead.

• How to get Hebrew characters to work with the data merge?

  I'm trying to work with the fusion of data with Hebrew characters and get gibrish on the Panel, merge and export.

  I tried to replace the Unicode CSV file and change the language but it still doesn't work.

  I worked with the fusion of data previously in English and it works perfectly.

  Any ideas? is this a bug? forced software?

  My apologies to Farsi language people everywhere. I got a text from a Farsi text file to compensate for this file delimited by tabs of fusion. I'm not talking, so it's likely servely nonsense.

  The editor of text used here (first screenshot) is the Open source NotePad ++. I'm not using the ME version of the code.

  I had this problem when I ask myself on my data merge info I origionally put phone and mobile phone on the same line which resaulted in the cell phone number split in two, as the column was not wide enough to display both side by side. I then moved the cell phone up to the next line but the problem number, then I had was that this would leave an empty line whenever I could meet someone who has not had a cell phone number. Anyone know how I can reduce this empty line when the phone line is empty?

  I try to create a very large document (50 + Pages) to print the information that I need the slug, fired from a CSV file.

  When I do, I get an error message "cannot create a merged document because no placeholders are present. If please add items in the Panel data for the pages of document merge and try again. »

  I have to back up the text field to the chart/printspace Board of the document, and then manually move after the merger for each individual page. This is a HUGE drawback.

  Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

  When you set up your text box in the slug area, set the text box to align to the bottom. Then pull the upper part of the box upward just enough so it's barely on the bottom edge of the page. That's all what it takes for the fusion of data examine the spaces reserved to appear on the page.

  I have a dell with esxi Server installed. the internal data store is raid 5 totalling 2.4 TBS guidance. The esxi see the 2.4 together and says its available. I was under the impression that it should be 2.0 tb max. This makes 2.4 going to be a problem. I installed it forget the limitation, then remebers. but it seems ok. Please notify.

  You will only be able to use 400GO. Reconfigure the table and create disks of 2 or more logical to break to the top of the table.

  You should be able to click on the link to the warning and access to an open cursors screen which will show you the warning and critical levels, as well as your recent history. On my machine, it seems that the default value is 1200, which is far from my normal use - it's the kind of humor that warning message was sent at time of my use to a minimum. Why it checks how to is one of those mysteries of the universe. You could try setting levels in the settings screen to manage, but on older versions on my platform, which has been a challenge.

  There are two ways to set up the model of fusion. You can put your placholders on the master page or on the live page. If the placehlders are on the master page, only the frame (s) with placeholders, as well as other grouped objects, will be duplicated. On the live page, ID will try to duplictate EVERYTHING on the page, so you must be very careful about installation and sizing of objects.

  I want to be on the LIVE page... How can I do this? Got any other sort but can't get several records for the life of me to come.

  It is the opposite of multiple records per page. Make x copies of a single record on a page, put x sets of organized placeholders as you want on the page. A good way to do it is with Edit > step and repeat after you set up the left superior set. Now merge as one record per page.

  After you set the preferences you must call the changeText() method, as

  myStory.changeText ();

  But it is a static solution.

  You can use a dynamic solution to define a good characterStyle and take advantage of the nestedGrepStyle style applied to this part of your design.

  For each character 'b' could be applied with your characterStyle automatically, no need to run a script.
