Linux KVM and EqualLogic

Hello

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem with KVM and ISCSI.
If we're going to restart a controller on our EqualLogic SAN or there is no disruption to network on the storage network (for example, a member of the pool move us)
KVM you can throw a wobbler and go of their filesystems read-only (guest centos 5.9 with virtio pilot).
I have read a few forums that indicate you can set values for timeout to drive on the clients themselves, but this is not possible using the virtio driver, which is what we currently use.
Is it possible that we can load KVM to suspend the virtual machine, if there is a failure of storage and take back them when the store comes back online (I think that vmware for it)?
We are running Centos 6.4. There seems to be a werror = 'stop' and the rerror = 'stop' options to achieve this, but if I try to put these options in the XML of libvirt for a VM, libvirt seems to be to remove.
Thank you

This was solved by using/dev/eql to the disk instead of ISCSI and dev/disk/by-path path (using virt - manager)

a startup code? What type of boot disk that you use? Sounds like something from another program.

  • tab KVM and vm is not available in the console kvm the Mmic

    Hi guy,

    Nice day!

Today, I spend all day looking for the solution to this, but it was a bad day for me. I have access to the server cisco UCS 220 M3 Mmic and when I clicked the button on console kvm on the page group MMIC, the kvm and vm tab does not appear on the console kvm page. When I clicked on the virtual media in the menu, it's only to create image and enable vm media, there is no "Add images" option available for me to download the ISO image of vmware on the server.

I tried to update the firmware for MMIC and BIOS, but no luck for me. Grateful if someone can help me with that!

Attached is the retail version MMIC to share with you

  • HFM 11.1.2.4 Linux Exalytics and Linux 11.1.1.7/9 ODI

    Hi all

We have installed HFM 11.1.2.4 on Linux on our Exalytics server, supporting now.

We have ODI 11.1.1.7 installed on Linux in our work environment and ODI absolutely perfect with our tools such as Essbase. ... And other planning.

On the Installation and configuration, we found that ODI 11.1.1.7 or 11.1.1.9 on Linux is not supporting HFM Exalytics Linux. Please let us know if there is an ETA for this availability...

More research, we found that 11 ODI on Windows does not HFM 11.1.2.4 on Linux support and both must be on the same server.

Then we spent at HFM 11.1.2.4 and 11 ODI on windows and found 11 ODI not supported for HFM 11.1.2.4 which is really confusing... to correct us if this isn't right...

We cannot have EPMA or FDM in our environment... We have worked on these tools wrt POC and concluded that they do not fit in our needs.

We have the DRM in place and works effectively with Oracle DB so we use ODI for the mapping between Oracle DB as source and EMP as target also vice versa.

Please let us know if HFM can be directly connected to the DRM and vice versa for the management of metadata... Thanks in advance.

I think you should focus on most of the questions to the Oracle espeically if you want an ETA.

ODI knowledge modules exist for HFM 11.1.2.4 not and will not, if you are looking for integration then maybe look at FDMEE

    See you soon

  • StarWind and EqualLogic coexisting

I was wondering if someone could comment on access to StarWind and EqualLogic provided LUNS simultaneously on the same ESX host.

The hosts are configured "optimal" for the EQL with two vmks on a vSwitch with two NICs currently.  Put network is also configured for the EQL - flow control to 1 q buffering enabled.

    Hello

I was very happy to buy my Toshiba netbook.

First of all, I configured the system ready - to reach the time Ubuntu-desktop, the first and everything was fine. Then I browsed menus and soon found "Aktualisierungsverwaltung" in German - should be 'Updatemanagement' in English - and began. After that I got a slow system, no sound card and later downloaded bios-udate 1.6 does not work too.

I bought the DVD LG (~75US/~60Eur) burner and restored with the Remix DVD Ubunto system. Who works well and takes about 10 minutes. I bought a Kingston memorymodule too and I've replaced the original one. The Kingston-modul works fine too.

After that I had read the thread, that work of doesn´t-update BIOS after update Ubuntu I tried again and now I have a good job of BIOS 1.6.

    But I still 2 faullts:

The ' | '. (vertical bar) is not as shown on the keyboard Fn + X - it is Fn + Alt +.<>

The 151-update "package" still damage the system - I tried it for 2 times doing nothing but the restoration, of networking, and update.

The new 1.06 driver sound that I found at Toshiba-Germany and France-Toshiba are dead links (404), the line will help Toshiba now resolve this problem since 2 weeks and don't call back.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

You can download the Setup from the Microsoft page of WIindows disk:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310994/

Then you could install the Microsoft recovery console that helps you use the commands * Fixmbr and Fixboot * to fix the Boot Manager:

I think this should help other rational use the Live like BartPe or WinPE disc to boot up the laptop.

  • Card nvidia, Linux Mint and W520?

    I'm on a W520 possessing a videocard of nvidia Quadro 1000 m, running Linux Mint 17 xfce (64-bit)

Recentley, I came across a situation that required OpenGL 3.3. Best I can tell, my card intel integrated can support above 3.1!

So I went to try to get the nvidia card work. Note to all the world at this point... Installation of the nvidia proprietary drivers directley Apparentley is the worst thing to do.

I went to install the drivers of bumblbee (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bumblebee) and have since been frusterated with an nvidia card not working.

I went to the cat bourdon, scourd the web for my problem, tried to re - install on a fresh USB... Nothing works.

Has ANYONE else been in this situation? What are the steps that you took to get a functional nvidia card?

  • Help to "problem"-WRT54G, Linux, Unix and Windows ".

I have a Linksys WRT54G rev 6, firmware version v8.00.7 011, July 27, 2009.  My ADSL modem is a modem DSL from Westell G90-610014-20 revD.  My home network is 'predominantly' Windows wireless clients and a wireless printer, who don't have no problems or issues between them.  These 2 PC can see each other, share files, print, see internet, etc.  My PDA Smart Phone connect wireless... the grand-kids PSP jumps in full and they are all happy.

Then, a few steps in my box... Multi-boot with Win7 Pro 64-bit, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition 64-bit, OpenSolaris 2010.03 snv_134 and some other OS' are.  It is connected to the #2 router's ethernet port.  This PC connects to the internet very well with all OS' are.  When I start to the top of any OS "Windows" on the subject, I can see the entire network, connect, fileshare, printing, etc. Life is beautiful...

When this PC is displayed under Ubuntu, OpenSolaris or Solaris - I have internet and I can print.  I can see 'only' the router, modem and printer (and not the other PC) I can ping the router, printer and modem (not the other PC through services called) or intellectual property.  I can not connect, fileshare, etc..  In these OS' are I Samba, CIFS, Wins, etc. installed.  My windows clients cannot see my PC either, BUT I can ping and mount the fileshares to this PC via the IP (not via the designated services. If I boot one of this Windows Linux clients, this PC can see my PC with the IP address and name services.  Linux to linux, he'll see, connect, share.  I had 'other recheck my config on Samba, CIFS and wins... and nobody can find any problems there.

I see 'all' clients in the Client DHCP of the router table.  The router is dynamically assign addresses without any conflicts.  The router I ping the Linux/Unix/Windows (my) box.  It cannot ping my windows wireless clients.  All "client" devices have DHCP enabled with autoconfig.

At first I thought I had a double NAT courses so I filled the modem and the reconfig'ed my router to the router to the modem of the equation.  (Now just a stupid modem.)  Time of Internet connection are now vantastic... improved my time to download updates and upgrades and network load is down... BUT, the same problems/no change.

I turned "logging" the router, but as of yet, I have not found where those who connect so I can revisit!  I wonder if I have something to do between the wire &... but that "should" be transparent shouldn't it?  I don't know if "everything that he must have spent, or if something is filtering or stop"it "(?)"  I'm really running out of ideas on what to check, test, change... on what "might" happen.

    Help!

Thank you... 'All' went through on my desktop and my network and I was doing the wrong assumptions.  The last PC for installation on this network was my office, so I assumed that it connect to my laptop, it was a problem with the desktop computer.

What I've discovered, is that it "is" the problem of the laptop (on the contrary), somewhere in the services of the Windows Vista Home Premium network or settings, device drivers, etc..  "Is not" (or at least now) a router or hardware problem.

He kept bothers me, I couldn't ping my laptop from my PC, or my router.  I had no access to customers 'other' Windows until late last night, when I found that 'they' have connection problems and ping the laptop too!  I guess...

I started this laptop on a Ubuntu 10.10 Desktop Edition LiveCD - and then could ping to it to both my desktop PC and my router, configuration this laptop in wireless (same device) and connect to the same wireless network.  Sort, which confirms that this is not a hardware problem on the laptop.  It confirms that it is not a router or network problem.  It narrows down my path to how 'Vista' networking services, device drivers, settings, etc. from Vista. The hunt continues, but this thread is "finished".  The problem lies elsewhere...

  • DCB - Force10 MXL and Equallogic PS6210 - worth it or not?

    Hello all

I have a new 3-blade M620 virtualization environment, 2 x MXL Force10 switches and 2 x Equallogic PS6210 - there is the possibility of using DCB - is it useful to configure DCB, will I get the gains and better stability, or for a small environment should I just use the configuration standard iscsi?

Ideas or alternative options gratefully received.

    Thank you

    Hello

If the switches are dedicated for iSCSI use, then there is no advantage to the use of DCB.  DCB in itself does not have iSCSI faster.  I just made sure non-iSCSI traffic doesn't interfere by providing iSCSI with a higher priority.  All other traffic is going in a "lossy" class of service.

Also, you will need DCB converged network adapters to use BCD on the hosts.  Most of the iSCSI software adapters do not support DCB.

    Please contact Microsoft Community.

I want to tell you that the KVM are you using currently has a problem. All KVM switches generally support the mouse model you mentioned...

So, you can contact the KVM manufacturer in this regard. Or you can use your favorite search engine to buy a new one.

    Note:

  • Linux server and/or version?

Is there the intention to make available for linux guests?

Also, can I use it to connect to my network management server and then jump for my IOS devices?

    Best regards

    Tim

    Hi Tim,.

We evaluate the implementation of a Linux client. You can use a jump server to connect to a Cisco device in the current building. However, you will need to hit the "Refresh button" bottom right of your Terminal Services session once you have successfully connected in the Cisco device supported. To initiate a refresh, you should see the process 'show version' detection and display of IOS. All supported IOS tools should be available then. See screenshot below.

FOR INFO. Make sure you have rights to publish a 'show' version or the update will not work correctly.

Let's automate this in a future release to make it as transparent as possible.

    Kind regards
