Listen to fax in

I replaced an Office Jet 7410 with a 8600 Pro premium.  The 7410 has a feature that allowed me to pick up the phone and if it is a fax, press 123 on the phone.  The device would then and I would hang up the phone and the fax machine would come thru.  The 8600 Pro has this feature?  It was very useful for me because I have the same address and fax number, and I'm not usually in the room where the fax machine.  I can't find any info on this subject in the manual

Sorry, this printer has that EXACT function, but it has something that will distort between the ring of fax and the phone ringing.

First of all, make sure that everything is properly connected.

1. a line should be from LINE 1 directly into the wall.

2. the phone should be plugged directly into the LINE 2.

3. go to your settings of the printer.

4. go into the fax settings

5. go in distinctive ringtones

6. change to the desired. This will make your fax machine have a different ringtone to your phone line real

I took 20 minutes on the phone to find someone to get me to tell them what the problem is.

Finally, I asked if I could please tell him what my problem.

He said yes and asked if f I have the black cord that comes with it.

I said 'yes' and he pulled the plug (1 line) on the 6480.

    He hung up on me!

in any case, I wasn't going to go through the introduction of 20 min. again, only to find out if he could answer the question.

    So here it is.

When I connect the black cable supplied with (for a single line I think) telephone jack of the cable modem (they provide my dgital phone, internet and Cable only ESA, no data dedicated line because I have to go through a flurry of faxes from time to time at home.)

Here is the document on the implementation for different kinds of digital lines (think VOIP is not listed) that could work however, the fax modules used in probably all HP AIO are for analogue telephone lines only (the kind of Ma Bell telephone lines that have nothing to do with computers).  So, you could be just out of luck unless you want to pay for another standard analog line in your home for the fax.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but makes no sense you need to beat your head in frustration on something that is not likely to ever work.  Oh and another thing - make absolutely sure that the telephone line is connected to the fax to send/receive is the one supplied with the printer, they are not your average phone cords that come with phones or you can pick up at the local super store.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830: Receive faxes with a HP officejet pro 6830 w / answering machine

I had an OLD officejet model that could receive faxes even if the answering machine was not connected directly to the fax machine the 6830 manual says that it must be directly connected.  My current Brother printer does NOT receive faxes because of this problem.  Anyone know if I directly connect my machine to this model (Officejet 6830) to make it work?  I won't buy it if it will not work.

    Hello @JPJ408,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are looking to buy a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 6830 for fax purposes. While the User Guide advise you to plug the answering machine directly on the back of the Officejet unit, it is not necessary.

If you have a fax with an answering machine on her line, the only requirement is that the fax is set to two rings higher than the answering machine. Most of the responders are put back on 4 rings. As a result, you would set your Officejet to automatically pick up on 6 rings. In this way, when a voice is heard, you can manually respond to the call before the answering machine to pick up. If you are not home and then people can still leave messages on your answering machine. If you have a fax to come through, do not respond. The answering machine will pick up after 4 rings. At this point the fax machine "listen" on answering machine message and if fax tones are detected, the fax will take over and receive the fax.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

  • Officetet Pro 8630: Outbound Fax error 340 on HP 8630

I try to send a fax in black & white 1 page through the ADF on a HP 8630.  Transmission fails every time with error 340.  I checked the error on this page, and he advises trying to turn off the machine for 10 seconds, what I did without result.  He also says that it may be a problem with the receiving fax machine.  But I tried to send the same fax to the same beneficiary with another fax machine, and it goes through fine.  In addition, the fax recipient is hosted by k7.net e - fax service, so I doubt that they have problems with their 'machine '.

But it is there that it gets even more strange.  A test, I tried to send a fax to the same number of receipt using my computer and the 8630 fax driver, and the fax went through fine.  Then I tried to send the initial fax using the glass on the 8630 instead of the ADF, and who went through as fine.  So apparently the 8630 unable to connect that receives the fax when sending the ADF, but it can during the sending of the glass or the fax driver.  That makes no sense at all.  Then I tried to send a fax using the ADF test to a different number of receiver, and it worked fine.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi @gurs,

Welcome to the community of HP.

I understand that you get "340 error" when you try to fax from the ADF of your HP Officejet Pro 8630. I will do my best to help.

Based on what you explained in your first post, given that you can send by fax both the ADF and the glass of the scanner, the printer has full functionality. Looks like it's a question of power, or a line problem.

When you use the scanner glass and ADF the printer draws more power. Make sure your printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector or power bar, which ensures the printer becomes full power.

Also, try to change the Mode of Error Correction (ECM). The connection of the telephone line can be noisy. The telephone lines of poor sound quality (noise) can cause problems of fax. Check the sound quality of the phone line by connecting a phone to the telephone wall jack and listen to static noise or other. If you hear noise, disable the Mode of Error Correction (ECM) and try to send a fax again.

To change the setting of the ECM from the control panel
    1. in the Control Panel printer display, press and drag your finger on the screen and then press Setup.
    2. press on the configuration of the fax machine.
    3. Select advanced fax setup.
    4. press on the Mode of fixed error to turn on or off.
    5. Select on or off.

If this help will testify of my answer by pressing the 'thumbs up' below, or click on the button "Accept as Solution" if I helped you reach a solution.

I hope this helps and have a nice day.

  • Answer question 6500 wireless fax

I was just off a cannon MFP HP 6500, instructions aren't really good!

My question is that the HP can be set to auto-answer, which is a pain when you also have an answering machine connected to the line, so I turned off auto-answer, I just used the land line and noticed the MFP out of Eve as Canon has done, this means that the 6500 will listen to the line (even with auto answer off) and if she hears a fax carrier will pick up? I hope that the answer is Yes and that's what would make the gun, but there is no mention of this feature in all the instructions I've read.

    David

    Hi David,

I work for HP and noticed your post. Since I am familiar with the printer you mentioned, I thought I will answer you.

This printer will be picking up the incoming fax when he hears the fax tone, even if the line was actually answered by the answering machine. So that this works, there are a few conditions.

    (1) the printer should be set to auto answer. Is there a button to auto-answer on the right side of the front of the printer next to the switch.

The fire must be turned on.

    (2) the number of rings must be set higher than the answering machine.

If the answering machine takes up to 2 rings on the printer 3 or more rings. (This will essentially turn on listening)

The number of rings can be set by pressing the setup button on the front panel of the printer, right to the Basic setting Fax arrow, select OK, then right arrow to rings before answer.

    (3) the answering machine must be connected to the printer and not any other wall jack in the House. In this way, the printer can control the answering machine records the sound of incoming fax, etc.

I hope this answer helps. Im not tech support im not sure it is adequately fits your needs.

  • HP LJ 1536 dnf MFP: 1536 Fax installation issues

I'm on a land line telephone CentruyLink. The line comes out of the wall in the 1536 and comes out on a phone. Is there another phone connected to this line in my house.

The FAX is set to automatic and two rings. Using the test HP Fax number, the phone rings, I answer, I get the FAX noise, hang up and the FAX is printed.

BUT when I telephone number using my cell phone, it rings, I pick-up and cell phone noise Telec.

This use to work properly, but now I'm having trouble. I spoil the putting in place or is there something wrong with the Fax/printer? Or maybe Qwest did something for the line.

    Hey @DanielF,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject.

When you use a phone line shared with your fax, phone and answering machine you would have normally established for the answering machine takes first.  You want the fax machine must be set to answer 2 rings after the answering machine. With this configuration, you would be able to receive faxes, answer messages and telephone calls on a phone line. When you will be sent a fax that is generally a good rule to have the person who sends the fax call you in advance to give you just a heads-up that the fax will be sent to you. In this way, when the fax is sent you just listen to the answering machine pick it up after 5 or 6 rings. Fax answering tuned and if fax tones are detected the fax answer. If you're not home you will still be able to receive faxes and answering machine messages.

If you prefer this Setup, please follow the steps below to configure you fax.

Step 1: Set the answer Mode:

    1. Click on the button Setup (key) on your printer
    2. Right arrow to Fax Setup and select OK
    3. Select OK in the basic configuration
    4. Right arrow for Answer Mode and select OK
    5. Right arrow for TAM and select OK.

Step 2: Set up the rings before answer:

    1. Click on the button Setup (key) on your printer
    2. Right arrow to Fax Setup and select OK
    3. Select OK in the basic configuration
    4. Right arrow for rings to answer
    5. You will be able to set this to 1 ring to 9 rings. Remember, this must be set to 2 rings higher then your answering machine. If your answering machine picks up suite 5, set the rings to answer on your fax to 7. If your answering machine picks up suite 6, set the rings to answer on your fax to 8. The difference of the 2 ring will allow your printer enough time to 'listen' to the answering machine and raise the fax if fax on the line.

Please also define Mode of fixed STOP error and fax (V29) at Slow speed in accordance with the instructions in my previous post.

Please let me know if the steps I provided work for you. Good luck!

  • CTCE Officejet 6500 Fax Modem connection has more

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

HP 6500 Officjet has more.  Time Warner Cable installed a telephone modem TWC eMTA and split the line of incoming telephone into the wall jack, while retaining the original outlet in Officejet 6500 has more connection as indicated in the manual of HP.

However, he then disconnected the connection back to Officejet 6500 has more to the telephone base unit, even if the installation HP statement indicates the connection shall be connected directly to the telephone receiver.

The technician then connected the TWC eMTA modem to the second part of the splitter to the wall outlet.  The phone works perfectly, but in the race a fax test fails a tone detection.

The fax test print States to remove the splitter and connect the fax directly to the wall socket, but remove the separator is not an option, as there is no connection to the eMTA TWC telephony modem.   The manual mentions also using a digital-analog filter or converter, like the Officejet requires an analog connection.

My understanding is that the reason for the direct connection from the HP device to the telephone receiver allows the fax listening to the phone line for a tone and a fax signal and respond to the line after 6 rings and to send a fax.

Don't attempt to send a fax test fax test HP 'No Answer' number statements, which means that the Officejet had no dial tone.

Suggestions for connections that operate, or what analog digital filter or converter to use, would be appreciated, like TWC has no solution.

I thought I had solved this case myself by disconnecting all connections made by this technology TWC and followed the manual of HP.  I started with the newly installed separator and reconnected the separator to the input line of the OfficeJet and connected the output of the OfficeJet directly to the phone base unit.  To get the connection telephony TWC, I connected a second line of the second take of the splitter modem telephony TWC (the latter which is connected to the TWC cable output).  Problem solved: NO - Fax tone, a tone phone and yells, but none of the calls incoming.  To get the incoming phone calls, had to disconnect the line from the phone base unit and reconnect the unit on base of telephone modem telephony TWC by result, incoming and outgoing calls, but not the Officejet, so no fax tone.

    =================================
I am not employed by H - P & I do not look for congratulations, fair solutions.

Gemini02: Thanks a lot for your attempt to help.  It turns out that he didn't need an analog filter or a converter.

'Knowledge-information technology-better than you' technology contract for Time Warner Cable didn't know what he was doing in a first step in dealing with the HP Officejet, or much else, as his only totally disconnected from the Officejet actions.

First of all, to the phone outlet, where the incoming landline connected initially to the Officejet, he installed a useless Dispatcher and reconnected the Officejet to it (a line now dead).  The connection to the Officejet was to be performed to a modem (direct line), Time Warner phone instead.  All of the remaining connections should have been left as they were.  Instead, this tech then connected the telephone base unit Panasonic TWC telephony modem (where a live telephone connection) and the outgoing line of Officejet to the second connection on the split bar newly installed (a deadline) and therefore no dial don't tone for the Officejet.

As I had no idea about the operation of the outlet now amended, there had me time again unplug everything and realize that the incoming connection was not this splitter connected outlet and , but in fact the modem telephony. TWC

Connected the Officejet directly to the modem telephony TWC, culminating in the Officejet tone.   The outgoing line the Officjet directly linking to the Panasonic phone plant, leading to the tone at the telephone base unit.  Sent a fax requesting a return fax, resulting in 4 traffic lights and answering machine pickup, and after 6 rings, received a fax.  The splitter is unplugged from the wall dead and thrown in the trash.  The problem is finally solved.

Thanks again for all the responses.

  • Office Jet 6500 (All in One)-Modem, fax and phone on one line

How to make connections of cables for that the 6500, the computer (dsl) modem and the phone can share one telephone line?  Instructions for the 6500 show must be connected directly to the phone jack and the other devices are then connected to the 6500.

    Would this work?

    a. telephone jack using #1 port on back on officejet 6500 connect.

    b. connect another line of port #2 to the rear of the officejet and divide it to modem and phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll forgive me explained is not setup and operation. When you receive a phone call, your answering machine will answer the call first. Once he does, the fax will listen to the call and hear fax tones. If she hears fax tones, it will pick up the call and start receiving the fax. If she does not hear fax tones, it leaves you alone the phone call. This is why the TAM must be connected to port 2 - EXT and the TAM to answer the call first the value.

Press or drag upward on the drive down to see the current reading and controls screen.

    Then stir and repeat

Also on the playing screen, you can go back, put in pause or fast forward a song, control volume, playback of the song, lyricsand more.

Swipe up on reading to display your queue up next, that lists all the songs that you have selected for the current playback.

Drag the songs with to rearrange the order, or swipe to the left to remove a song you want to ignore.

  • Why do I may for listening to my own music?

    Hello

My daughter has an iPad, where she purchased songs in iTunes.

She wants to listen to these songs also on his phone of Samsung.

When she tries to download music from Apple app store Google play, she needs to buy a subscription to Apple's music to listen to the songs that she has already bought from iTunes.

If this is the case, Apple is in charge it twice for the music she wants to hear.

I hope that we have misunderstood the situation and that Apple can explain how she can listen to the music she bought in iTunes.

Thank you very much in advance for the advice.

    With sincere friendships.

Apple music ≠ iTunes! Apple music is apples service - subscription streaming will not get access to the music you already own, but millions of other songs as well.

What you are looking for is how to get the music purchased from iTunes on your Android phone. This, still once, ha nothing to do with music from Apple. Maybe this web page (and many others like him, just google for it) can help you: https://tunesgo.wondershare.com/android/sync-itunes-music-to-google-play-android .html
